Sep. 9, 2008 Baby Girl is ONE MONTH OLD!
Wow! Our baby girl is one month old and I haven't even posted her picture yet!
Shawna Danielle Huff (named after her daddy...Shawne Daniel Huff) was born on August 6, 2008 weighing 9 lbs 2 oz! She entered this world with only two pushes from her mommy! Her birth was the least eventful birth that I have ever experienced. We were very happy with the hospital staff and the birth experience. Things went wonderfully, and we thank God and give Him all the glory.

May. 9, 2008 Happy Mother's Day to you, and to me!
A mom, who, like Eunice and Lois (see 2 Timothy 1:5,15), makes it her aim to teach her kids the scriptures and not only teach but live a life of genuine faith in Christ before her children, laboring in love to see Christ formed in them.
What an honor I have received! To see what this award is all about, head over to Timothy Moms Blog!!!Thanks Sheila!!!!
Then, I got a real sweet email from my wonderful husband with THIS article attached. Oh, and he said that I'm worth waaaaayyyy more than this! Here's what his note said: ($117,000 might be a good number for the average stay at home but not for you. There is not enough money in the world to fairly pay you for what you do for us. I love you and thank you for being the wonderful mother and wife that you are. Happy Mothers Day from your grateful husband.)
And Mother's Day isn't even here yet! Awwwww.... |

Field Day was loads of fun! Here is a picture of the three legged race:

The 50 yard dash
Taking a short break:
The jump rope contest:

Even the littles got in on the fun....Harmon loved the egg on the spoon race, even though he never left the starting line!

More tug of war

The children receiving their award certificates:

It rained on and off, but never hard enough to stop the fun, although some pretty dirty children resulted! The young adults had a great time too:

Ok you get the picture... It was loads of fun! Next year, you've gotta come! |

Well, without meaning to, I took the day off from school. I had some appointments and errands this morning, so Haley and I went to town together. By the time we got home it was after 1 o'clock. I just had laid Harmon down, thinking I would start straight off on our lessons for today when my sister, mom, and pretty much everyone started calling to tell me we were under a tornado watch. (We got rid of our TV's years ago) So, we went over the emergency plan together and made sure we all knew what to do. After maybe 10 minutes the watch was changed to a warning. I went to get Harmon out of his bed and we all went to the safest place in the house to wait it out, while listening to our local radio station. Thankfully, after about an hour or so the warning was lifted. Harmon wasn't excited about only getting a 20 minute nap
We came out and waited for the watch to end...by the time it did my mom stopped by on her way home from work to check on us...after she left I had to start on supper and now here I am at the computer. So, no school today. I guess we'll have a make up day tomorrow. Life is good. |

Mar. 26, 2008 EARTH DAY PLANS
Ok, we're gonna make plans for Earth Day (April 22, 2008) in advance!
This year, I am planning a Field Day and Picnic for any and all children who would like to be involved! We'll be having three legged races, tug of war, 50 yard dash, egg on a spoon relay races, hula hoop marathons, jump-roping marathons, and LOTS more!
We're also planning to have some baking contests and art contests...we'll be passing out flyers about Earth Day and talking about how to save the Earth's resources. (Find out more about Earth Day here.)
If you have big plans for Earth Day, or a tip on how to take better care of the Earth God gave us, add your link below and don't forget to leave a comment, if you'd like to come to our Earth Day celebration, let me know!

Mar. 11, 2008 Headline: Snow-woman dies in Tennessee
Warm, cold, warm cold... this is the trend that lead to the untimely death of a sweet young snow woman in Crossville, Tennessee. This picture was taken just hours before she melted.
Later that day occupants of the home were seen going on with daily activities. Cooking, cleaning, schooling, sewing...
On a lighter note, we finally made curtains to cover the bare windows (where we took down the blinds)...Here's Harmon's super fast Lightning McQueen toppers...

Shawne and Pa finished the chicken house...
We had my parents 40th Anniversary Party
The caterpillar veggie platter was a big hit
And moved Harmon to his own room for the first time ever... It was strange at first not having him in our room, but I think I'll have time to adjust before the next baby arrives in August!! Harmon really liked that we decorated his room with Cars...Lightning, Mater, and Sally....
One of the cats "Tom-Tom" really enjoyed the new blanket
