Good Easy Breakfast

I got up this morning and I was still half asleep.  I felt hungry so I went into our kitchen to see what I could eat.  But I couldn't find anything at first.  So I looked in the refrigerator.  I saw the eggs laying in the  'frigerator.

So I decided to make some eggs.

You'll need two eggs, a small bowl, (or a soup bowl) then you will take the two eggs, crack them on the table or something, and then stick your thumbs into the crack to seperate the shell.

Make sure you get no shell in there.  And then, put them in the bowl.

And when they are in the bowl you add salt and pepper, just a couple of shakes of each, and then if you want you can add a little bit of milk.  It just stretches the eggs a little bit.

And then add a little oil in your pan, a small frying pan.  If you are using a smaller pan you might want to only use one egg.

And if you are doing two you might want to use a bigger pan like I do.  And then, after you add the oil in your pan, I recommend peanut oil, but you can use olive oil or other kinds.

And then you will turn your burner on to medium high.  When your pan is hot, take a fork and stir up your eggs real good, and if you have some drips on the fork, drop them into the oil.  If it sizzles, you will know that your pan is good and hot.

Cook them until all the wetness is cooked out of them.  In the processing, you may add a little more salt and pepper.

Well, that is a simple way to make eggs.  You don't have to have milk as I said, but if it is for more than one person I would recommend adding milk to stretch the eggs a little bit.  Well, I hope you had fun making eggs!  If you also want to add one more thing, take a cheese grater and grate some cheese.  Add the cheese when it is done or while it is cooking.  And that is a really easy way to make eggs.*

Joshua dicated this to me this morning!  I thought he needed to update his blog.  This is  word for word, straight from the Chef's mouth!  And believe me, these eggs were lovely and delicious.  He brought my breakfast as I sat by the fire this morning.  Ahhhh, the blessings of homeschooling!

Cooking cookies by the dough

It is really fun to make cookies.  It is really fun to make these!  Me and my sister had a lot of fun.  My Mom found this on Jills Blog.  It is really cool how many colors you can make them.  I really had a LOT of Fun!

I like mixing up the dough, it is really light and soft.

It is fun to take the dough and put the food coloring in it and mix it.  I would say it was the funnest process.  You make a little hole in the center of the dough, and then you drop what colors you want in the hole.  And then you knead it to make all the colors work.  If you want to make brown, take red and green and mix them.  Or if you want a gold color take red and yellow and mix them.

After you finish coloring them, put them in your freezer for 15 minutes. And while you do that you can pick up and clear a space for you to work!

It is really fun to break up all the things you have dyed, and put them all together to make a disc.  It is really fun!

And then you fold them all together to make a patty shape of all your different colors.  What me and my sister did, we didn't want two of our colors to touch the same color but you can do it differently.

When you have made your patties, you can take a cookie cutter or something and cut it out.  Just put it on the cookie sheet, you don't have to grease it at all.  And if you want you can draw lines on your cookies if you want to do a leaf.  Or draw eyes on a little character.  Our leaf cookie cutter had lines right on it!  Or you can use a knife and sort of make your own lines.

When you are done you can take like a tray or something if it has leaves or something on it and put them on a tray or whatever you would like.

Signed, Josh

from my Mom:  Josh dictated this to me.  He is 8.  He begged me all yesterday to make a cake, but I was too busy with other things :(  Last night Jill posted this wonderful, beautiful recipe on her blog and we just had to try it!  It was very fun and visually rewarding.  And absolutely delicious!  Be sure to go to Jill's blog for the whole recipe, and to see her gorgeous photos!

The kids did most everything by themselves, and it was a special time in the kitchen.  I hope you enjoyed this episode of
