• Feb. 5, 2007 - ~Queen of Moron-ness~

Posted in Funnies

My boss was lamenting her "moron-ness" (yes, her word) earlier today and I decided I'd let her in on the fact  that I occasionally have major problems myself as evidenced clearly by Saturday's escapade. Since I took the time to type the whole thing out, I figured I might as well post it here as well. Maybe we can all share and see who wins the "Queen of Moron-ness" award. Gena tried to pull Jen into the whole thing as well, but she quickly set us straight. She's the goody-goody non-moron. Gena thought that was me but she was wrong! I totally qualify for the moron-pool....

So....I'm getting my freebies on Sat. (ds and dh are bringing more so I'm not done yet! ) and, apparently, got so over-excited that I lost my brain. My cell phone would NOT work. It was totally weird. Wouldn't turn on at all. And I'd just used it the afternoon before. I kept pushing the button and - nothing! Decided the battery must be totally dead so I plug it into the car charger. Still nothing. Great! My relatively new phone is not working. So...I'm frustrated, but can't be sidetracked from my FREEBIES. I do decide I'll stop in at the phone store when I'm done. (I live out of town and won't be back for a week or so, otherwise) I finally head to the phone place at 3:30 to find they close at 3 on Sat. Bummer. WalMart is across the street so I go in there, thinking I'll find a pay phone to check in at home and try and call my son who is in town and could be forced to go through Albertson's and get me more free stuff. Bwahaha!

No one picks up either phone so I decide to go drool over the ipods since I'm there. I run into a friend and lament my phone problem. He suggests taking the battery out and putting it back in. I try that. No luck. Now, this was probably a "God thing" because the sale shirts that I got for $3 for my dh were right there! Anyway, I head out, do the battery thing again. Decide to try the charger again "just cuz." Well, as I pull out the little cord on the charger, I notice that the charger came out enough not to be "engaged" (the little light went off). So I plug the phone in and push the charger all the way in. It says "charging"!!! I'm delighted.

So, I have it plugged into the charger and try to call home. Still won't work. I think, "that's weird, I thought you could use them if they were plugged in." Decide maybe it does that if you run the battery ALL the way down or something. Continue on with my errands, try the phone again. Still no luck. Shortly, the phone says,"charging complete". (Hmmm...seems like it charged pretty quickly for being totally dead) I Try to use the phone again and it STILL won't work. I've now been worrying over this phone all day. I make my last store trip, sit in my van and the "lightbulb" comes on! I'VE BEEN PUSHING THE WRONG BUTTON!!! All day long! There is NOTHING wrong with the phone - never has been. Battery wasn't even dead. When you open it, you push the red button to turn it on. That's stupid. Should be the green button (which is what I was pushing). Still....I've had the phone for a couple of months, use it pretty regularly and have NEVER had this problem before. Kind of scary, actually. I mean, what does your brain do? Just take a temporary leave, or what??

So, count me in on the Moron club. I can probably even be president. At least the stupid phone store was closed so I didn't look like a total moron in public. Sheesh!

So, anyone wanna try to beat that?

Try this on for size! I had an appointment at Asthma Clinic yesterday. I was running late and it is VERY cold out which is not a good combination with asthma. I arrived at the Dr's surgery just in time to have a HUGE asthma attack!! The asthma nurse took me into the back room and I pulled out my inhaler and took it! Better!! Now at least I can breath. So she asks me how my asthma is doing lately (I haven't seen her for a year). I had to admit that for the past couple of months it has been acting up more than usual. We start discussing my usual treatment plan and then she points it out - my moron ness!! I have been using my 'reliever' inhaler as a preventative and my 'preventative' inhaler as a reliever!!!! DUH!! I've only been on these inhalers for almost 2 years - how did I do that??? Well I'll tell you. A bit like you it was a color thing! The preventative is red and the reliever is blue, and in my mind you reach for the red when you are in trouble not the blue! She just looked at me when I said that and then very sweetly said 'Lets just not think about colors. Just remember it is the symbicort as the preventative and keep it by your bed and the other one in your handbag in case of trouble' She probably thinks I'm nuts!!! Complaining that it was the colors fault that I forgot how to use my meds!!!! Anyway, she now wants to see me in a months time instead of a year - go figure!

Dena, I don't know how old you are, but this sounds alarmingly like what I've been doing lately, and I blame my airheadedness on pre-menopause. Come by my blog and read about it! Karen

Yep, I am convinced that every once in a while the brain does in fact check out, gone, literally. Had a good day on the phones today. I realized that last week with the first week and the accident that I was a bit of a wreck. Today just felt better, like more in control. I am getting the hang of things.

I have tons of moron stories to delight you with - but I think I shall let you bask in your glory here for a while!
Wouldn't want to make you look "bad" - or would that make you look "good"?

I am sure I have some moronic story to tell, but, frankly, I am too - too tired to even think of one right now!
That is just too funny!!

I will tell you that I knew it had to be Gena who used the M word, because she called herself a moron a few weeks ago in an email, and it has become my new word, for some reason... now I gotta break the habit!
What was her moronic moment then?
I emailed her about my midwife appt, and her response was... "a midwife appt? are you pregnant?"
After I laughed for - well, a long time, I told her I was only in my 7th month.
It was so funny.

So, I will have to come back and let you know of a moronic moment of my own. I'm sure my children could tell tales on me, though!

Blessings!

Okay, how about using a public restroom with your four year old son, marching out into public, meandering through a crowd and having your son say something really loud and cute and everyone bursts out laughing. You think they are laughing about how cute he is only to discover when you get out to the car that the back of your skirt is stuck in your underwear.

Moron enough for you?
