Apr. 6, 2006 - Confessions of a kids-music" lover |
Music does tremendous things for my attitude. When I was still very postpartum with my second or third boy (I really cant remember whichJ), I found Miss Patty Cake. And I discovered that having her music on in the background helped me be more joyful with the boys. I wasnt having a terrible time of it like some stories I heard, its just that when sleep deprived and cleaning potty-training messes it is sometimes hard to be humming a tune ok its hard to even be nice when you're cleaning potty-training messes. So songs about who my God is and simple truths about the amazing things He has done really help my perspective. Recently some friends loaned a few Judy Rogers CDs to us and these are even better! Truths from Proverbs like Go to the Ant as well as other major themes of the Bible are excellent words to be singing all throughout the day. My boys love them and want to listen to them over and over. I have had friends/family in my car ask me if I get tired of listening to kids music and my honest answer is that I dont. I cant imagine our family spending our time singing songs about a cat and a fiddle and Jack and Jill, when we could be singing about how God hates it when we seek to cause trouble with our brothers. Which one do you think better applies to life with three boys five and under?

As you well know, we LOVE Miss Pattycake and Judy Rogers, too (thanks for introducing us to Judy!) :)
I love you, and love your love for the most important things. (I know, a lot of love going on.)
