Apr. 13, 2006 - 18 in 90, room to room

 If you read the past post you know that our 18 in 90 is a scaled down version of Kendra’s 101 in 1001.  Read this post if you're lost.  Below is my (Amy’s) list of goals for the next 90 days (starting April 15^th) –two for each room of the house.  I have been amazed at how edifying this exercise has been.  Even if I don’t accomplish all of my goals (but I pray that I will) it has been very good for me to evaluate this calling of mine and take my vitals (if you willJ).  My husband helped me come up with my goals and I already feel a bit more purposeful in my days.  I hope that others will find this same encouragement. 

Closet

1 Pray for extended family (1 x a week)

2 Memorize Psalm 89

 

Bedroom

1 plan romantic evenings (2x a week)

2 Organize & de-clutter clothing throughout room

 

Kitchen

1 re-organize cupboards

2 Guests over for a meal (once a month)

 

Bathroom

1 Get rid of toilet stains (from rusty water J)

2 5 less pounds in the shower J

 

Kids’ Rooms

1 Organize clothes

2 Pray for each child, beside their beds (1 x a week)

 

Living Room

1 Play game together (1 x a week)

2 Organize library/bookshelves

 

School Room

1 Action song w/ E, Letters w/ L, writing w/ A  (4x a week)

2 Make notebooks for kids

 

Outside

1 Plant garden

2 Take a weekly walk (with kids, of course)

 

Laundry

1 Have kids help folding and putting away laundry 1 x a week

2 Organize supply shelves

My desire is not to be “empowered” by self-help (lets leave that to Oprah).  Instead, I want to be called excellent by my Father, husband and children just as the woman described in Proverbs. 

 “She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.”  Proverbs 31:27

I better go now; I’ve a lot to do between now and July 15^th!
