Apr. 27, 2006 - Lunch without milk |
This is me: O.k. kids, sit down, its time to eat lunch. Then I realize I forgot to get the milk. I walk to the fridge no milk there. So I'm off to the laundry room's extra fridge. On my way, I smell something
what is it? I investigate. Oh, the washcloths need to be washed (how do we dirty so many washcloths in one day?) So, I start a load of washcloths. But I spill the bleach and need to clean that up. As I am working on that, I notice that the utility sink is incredibly dirty, so I start on that. And you know how it is once you get a sink clean that you notice the walls around it? Well, I start scrubbing. Finishing that task I walk in to the dining room and find my kids at the table with (you guessed it) still no milk!
This is just one example of the way it goes all day, --for all of us Im sure. We are going to do table time and mom is getting everything ready when the babys diaper begins calling. On my way to change it, I notice the boys still have not picked up their clothes off the floor. As I work with them to pick up the clothes, we find that the drawers are not shutting due to balled up clothes (why do I even bother folding?) So we set to re-fold and find that we can take out all the cold-weather clothes. Now 30 minutes has passed and I still havent changed that diaper. Nevermind the fact that we were on our way to the table!
I could go on, --this is too easy to write about! But, I am learning the art of choices. Like today when we went to the family room to begin reading and I found it a mess, instead of getting sidetracked by the mess, I informed the guilty parties that after we read, they would clean it up while I fixed lunch. So, Im getting it I think. It the nature of this beast I suppose. I just cant help thinking how easy the schoolteachers have it not teaching at home.
But as you can see, we're havin' a grand time of it!

I found you by way of the mango times. Getting sidetracked seems to be what I do best. I really like your blog--esp. the entries on raising manly men.
God bless,

I can SO relate to this! any room I walk into gives me cause for distraction, and how easily I forget what I was doing and start in on something else.
I figured out a solution to stinky rags- I partially fill the washing machine and add a scoop or two of oxiclean (or the cheaper equivalent from the dollar store.) Then whenever we finish with washcloths or kitchen rags I drop them in there to soak until I'm ready to wash them. You could use a bucket instead if you don't want to tie up the machine. No more smelly rags!
Hey, where in Washington are you? It would be fun to meet you sometime!
Have a great day,

Apr. 28, 2006 - I'm trying to post this.... |

I keep running into dead ends. If this makes it, add to your story that friends drop in on you to return something to you...and you offer them a latte in any and every flavor under the sun!
We love the pic of L with the hammer. Those boys are so precious to us, we love seeing them every Sunday, in the pew ahead of us, esp as one throws pretend arrows at a certain guy up front!!
I love reading the posts you and Stacy write up, very insightful and fun! Keep up the good work raising the next generation of godly men (and women!) |

Christine, I love the mango times too. Fletch makes me laugh. Thanks for the kind words.
Rebecca, ...stinky rags! Aren't we funny! Thank you for the idea, i'll give it a try! And I will email you about getting together that would be way fun!
Stacy, I am so blessed we're friends. My boys really see you guys as part of the family and I wouldn't have it any other way. Except, I wish we could be next door neighbors!
Kevmem, I have been looking for you all week! But I kept looking for homeschoolblogger.com/semperreformanda! Now I know! I'm super excited to visit your blog! Thanks for stopping by here! See you Sunday!
C, no L didn't get hurt. He is so funny, almost always trying to make us laugh. We call him the comedian. He tends to be shy or quiet in groups, well, in comparrison to A at least! But he is the joker!
