My friends and family that know me will be shocked by this next announcement. You see I am not an animal lover and I really don’t like cats. It has something to do with the fact that my entire life every time I am around one my eyes start to burn, water and itch, my nose and throat…. Well you get the idea, they make me sick (literally) to the point of asthma.

We live on acres of grass, which means that we have lots and lots of mice. So we figured we should get some barn cats to help us with the mice issues. Yesterday a friend dropped off the kittens. Yes we now have:

ONE

TWO

THREE

Kittens!

Obviously the kids are in love with them and they are cute --even I can admit.

by the end of the first official day w/ the kittens, the orange kitten had already been painted w/ red outdoor house paint, courtesy of our mischievous middle child. A nice, wide stroke right on the back.

At least the cat didn't seem to mind.

A few years ago our barn cats (wild) populated the farm - 30 cats total. I'm serious! I counted. I put out food and took pictures. (I should dig them up.) The coyotes keep the population down most of the time. My domesticated cats stay closer to the house. They are no fools.
And just a note. 4 years ago I was spray painting christmas gifts and my cat walked under the spray. I thought he'd shed it off. Nope got a big old sore that was ulcerated! He had to take meds and I had to rug cream on it. Uggg. Nasty.

That cute little girl holding the orange kitty? She's been talking about those kittens ever since! I think twice last night at dinner she turned to Mark and said, "did you know A & L got kitties at their house?" And twice since she's asked if we could just take a little drive out to your house to visit... :)
