Renner's Place

• Aug. 15, 2007 - This, that and the other

Live is busy.  I went to the Healthy Options of Plainview's dental clinic yesterday and they are saying I need to get my upper wisdom teeth pulled, at the very least.  I've got cavities in just about all the rest of my teeth, except my front 8 (4 top and bottom).  The initial visit with them includes x-rays and an exam by a hygenist.  So, I won't see the dentist till I go in to to have those removed.  The dentist will look and determine if I can get by with just filling the cavities.  My appt. isn't till October 5th, but I might get in on a cancelation before that.  This clinic bases their fees on your household income.

I have dental and doctor appointments for four children over the next week, then we will start school for real.  We've done some school work, like math and reading, throughout the summer.  Just not as regularly as I'd have liked.  Life just happened along the way or kids were playing well with eachother.  Ya know, if kids are playing well and not fighting, you leave them alone.

If our budget allows, I'll be looking into advancing Terk to 7th grade work, instead of 6th.  Being homeschooled, I'm not real concerned with the name we give the grade, but he has expressed a desire to be a Freshman in high school when he is 14.  The only way to do that is to advance him a year.  He is already starting the 7th grade math, without advancing him.  I'm pretty sure he can handle the rest of the 7th grade work, although we are going to have to work on his writing.  Not his pennmanship as that is beautiful.  We need to work on his writing of book reports, creative writing, history papers, etc.

The reason the budget comes into play, is that I have everything for his 6th grade year, but if I advance him I need to pick up grammar & science and want to add a current events newpaper written for his grade/age.

I have four that I'm schooling this year with two pre-schoolers and one toddler.  My plan is to have the older two girls and maybe Terk, do some pre-school activities with the twins while I do Kindergarten with Shorty.  Then we will do our ECC together and the older ones can then move on to their math and English/grammar/writing/phonics, whatever they are working on at the moment.  I also plan to have them participate in Braum's Book Plan and maybe Pizza Hut's Book-It if it isn't too late to sign up for that.

Well, tomorow is an early day.  I have to be up at 5am in order to make breakfast for Tiny.  She has a sedated dental appointment in the afternoon, which means no food for 8 hours, then only clear liquids for another 5 hours.  If you read this, please pray for her and for me as we go through this.  Also, I'm leaving Little Bud with my mom and his dad, along with the other children.  That way if he needs me, Mom or DH can bring him to me.  He is still predominantly nursing, although will take a cup and some spoon food.

It will be interesting.  forgive the lack of paragraphs, can't figure out what is going on.
