I'm beginning to like this book!
I think that I’m beginning to like ‘The Pilgrim’s Progress’ book! There is two parts to the book. One is about Christian and how he gets to the Celestial City and the second is about how his wife and children get to it. I am only on the third chapter to the second part but its getting better for me to understand. At the library, they have cliff notes on the book and so I’m going to get it and read it.
But some the reason there are two parts is because Christiana, (she is the wife of Christian,) and her four sons hardened their heart toward their father and did not go with him to the Celestial City. Also the reason why Christiana and her sons go on a pilgrimage is because they cannot bear the loss of their father and husband. Also two neighbors try to persuade them not to go, (as Obstinate and Pliable did with Christian,) and one ends up going to with her and her children, her name is Mercy.
Now I’m only on the third chapter but I know now that she goes through the same things as Christian did on his pilgrimage. I’m not sure how far Mercy gets with them on the way, but I know that she, and Christiana, escaped the Slough of Despond. That was where Christian and Pliable fell in and Pliable went back because he was discouraged. Now if you haven’t read the book, you’re wondering how Christian got out of the Slough of Despond. Help heard him call and helped him out. The Interpreter showed Christiana and her children the same things he had shown Christian and a little more.
At the part I am at right now Christiana and her children, and Mercy, are walking and talking with a man from the house of the Interpreter, named Mr. Good-Heart. They are talking while walking; he is their guard, and he to see them safely to the house named Beautiful, where they are to spend a night or two. They are having a wonderful conversation, so far as I know.
Well, I’ll report back when I have gotten a little farther into the book! Thanks for all the encouragement that you all have been showing me with such encouraging comments! And thank you, Mother, who wanted me to read this truly tremendous and inspiring book!
Sincerely,
Lady Rachel

I'm glad you're enjoying Pilgrim's Progress! You're right, you get used to the language style after a while.
You also have some great books on your "to read" list! The Chronicles of Narnia are up there on my top 10...and P&P is always an enjoyable read.
Well, I will talk to you later...stop by soon!
