Yeast Rolls and Crescent Rolls and maybe a new book
This is a yeast roll dough recipe! I like to make these for dinner and they are very good if you have soup for lunch, soup is one of my favorite meals. But I have been the one making things around here. I made crescent rolls for dinner last time, instead of just plain yeast rolls, do something fun with them!
Here is the recipe and the part of the recipe I used to make the crescent rolls: (We have a bread machine and so I just use that instead. But not all people have them!)
3½ cup All Purpose Flour
¼ cup Sugar
¼ cup Shortening, Margarine or Butter, softened (I use Extra Virgin Olive Oil, it’s the best kind. But we will be getting some Red Palm Oil.)
1 tsp. Salt
1 package of Regular or Quick-Acting Active Dry Yeast
½ cup very warm Water
½ cup very warm Milk
1 Egg
Mix two cups of the flour, the sugar, the shortening, salt, and yeast in 2½-quart bowl. Add water, milk and egg. Beat on low speed, scraping bowl frequently. 1 minute. Stir in enough remaining flour to make dough easy to handle.
Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 min. Place in greased 2½-quart bowl; turn greased side up. Cover and let rise in warm place until double, about 1 hour. (Dough is ready if indentation remains when touched.)
Punch down dough; cut or roll as directed for any dinner rolls recipe Below. Brush with butte. Cover and let rise until double, about 30 min. Heat over to 400*. Bake until golden brown, 12 to 18 minutes.
Here is what you do for the Crescent Rolls:
Roll half of dough into 12in circle, (I didn’t, just a rectangle) on floured surface. Spread with margarine, (didn’t do that either) butter, softened. Cut into 16 wedges. Roll up, beginning at rounded edge. Place rolls, with points underneath, on greased cookie sheet; (I didn’t do that either, didn’t think it necessary) curve slightly. Continue as directed above. 16 rolls. (I think I got more than that though!)
Just on a little side note: Jocelyn and I watched some of the first part and all of the second of ‘Jane Eyre’ on PBS and so I’m reading the book now, it sparked my interest! Mother said she doesn't care if I read two books at once, so I'm reading it! What new books are you reading? Tell e about them!
Sincerely,
Lady Rachel

I love yeast rolls. It is one of the many fond memories I have of growing up in KY. Not too many people make them or know about them. I will try your recipe. If you can then I can, right! I am going to try.
