The Milk & Honey Tea Room

Your Hostess:

Hello there! Thanks for stopping by. I'm your hostess Miss Rachel. This is the blog of a fifteen-year-old girl, who is striving to become a woman of Yahovah. I am a home school student, living on our small hobby farm with my 7 siblings, from ages ranging from 20-2yo. Take a look at my life as the 3rd daughter from a large homeschooling family and how Yahovah walks with me through it. Blessings to you in the name of Yahovah. PS. Please check out my new blog - http://dixonhomestead.com/rachel - A City On A Hill. I would love for you to stop by there. :)

The Weirdest Things Make You Think Of Things You Never Thought They Would!

If any of you are wondering why I haven’t been blogging for a few weeks, that’s because I was grounded! Yes, even me, I was grounded. But here is what I’m going to write about:

Cloth diapers!

As I was cleaning out a poopy diaper on Sunday, I thought of our visit to TN. On Sunday, the day we left, all the kids were outside eating lunch. We were having the most interesting conversation - while we were eating a delicious lunch prepared by Mrs. Suarez - and the conversation was about how gross the Suarez boys’ thought it was that we used cloth diapers instead of paper. Paulie and Luke just thought it was the grossest thing that we had to bend over the toilet and rinse the poop out. Shaiya agreed with us about it. She pointed out to them how much money you save when you use cloth diapers instead of paper ones. Luke was like, ‘Yeah, I guess that is a lot of money each month.’ The one bag of paper diapers that we bought for the trip to TN was around $8 -$10. I think it had around 30 diapers in one package.

You know when you go to the store to buy paper diapers, you think, ’30 diapers should last me about a month…’ but then you have go back and get another package a couple weeks later. We have to wash our cloth diapers everyday. Isaac and Hannah use cloth nighttime diapers because they still wet the bed at night. They use a few liners and a pair of rubber pants. We buy 3T for them and 18-24month for Caleb. We’ll have to find the newborn rubber pants for the new baby *girl*!

I don’t mind cleaning out diapers in the toilet, and I hope to be using cloth diapers when I have my own children. It will save time and money that I would be *wasting* every time. If I buy a package of paper diapers every other week, I’d be using a lot of money I could be using for something I really needed it for. That is one of things I like about cloth diapers, if you have almost no more clean, you can just stick them in the wash and not have to run down to the nearest dollar store and buy a whole new package.

Jocelyn did a post last year about how she hates cleaning out poopy diapers and then Mom did one about how 'Cloth Diapers Are Still The Best Choice For Us!'  (I couldn't find the post to link it, but go there and post a comment!) on her Homestead Blog! I thought it was funny. I think that is one of the things of becoming a homesteader: cloth diapers - or it is in my own opinion? This is what I think about cloth diapers, though others may disagree with me on this, I do believe it’s God’s will for my life, being a Daughter of the King!

We will, however, be using paper diapers when the new baby comes - just for the first few days.

Oh, yes, I forgot to add: Sunday was my first anniverary on the blog community! Jocelyn's too! Stop by and read her last post on *Part III Personal Relationships,* it is very good! She found out a lot of good stuff, go ckeck it out! And, uh, Happy Spring, everyone!

Sincerely,

         Lady Rachel

Hi Rachel! (We have the same name -- how cool!)
I noticed you added me to your friends list. I like your blog!! Great atmosphere. I can see how you and Jocelyn are sisters - you look so much alike!
About the diapers, I think my mom used cloth diapers for the first few kids. For the last 7 or so we've used disposable ones. I see how you would use cloth diapers - they are SO much cheaper! Can't say I'd want them for the sanitary aspect though. :]
Anyway, stop by anytime!

I just wanted to stop by and say "hi." I saw that you added me to your friends list, so I thought that I should stop by. I really like your template desgin, it's very feminine and it's refreshing to see those when so many girls don't have blogs like that. Your diaper post was very funny, I enjoyed that aswell. I think that a magazine that you would like would be The Girlhood, you can read about it down a few posts on my blog.

My mom used to do cloth diapers with me and my little sisters...but eventually she caved in and now we buy them from the store. We use the old cloth diapers as infant burp rags now!!! Lol
