Updates, You Were Waiting For Them?
I have them right here! I'm really sorry, I've been meaning to post about the animals for a while but I always think of something else when I go to type up a post! So, I've decided to type this before I think of any other things to post about!
The Goats:
They have been doing fine. We met a new friend at TSC (Tractor Supplies Company), and he gave us his number on a TSC card. He started to tell Jocelyneverything about goats, and we told him that we've had goats for over a year now. Jocelyn called them to see if they had any goats for sale. They did: two bucklings. They are going to weather the other buckling we didn't take. Jocelyn had been looking for another buckling to put in with Cowboy in a seperate pen because she has to seperate him from the does because she doesn't want to casterate him, we want to use him for breeding. So we got the buckling from them. He looks like Belladonna and Keci mixed, his colors. He's very beautiful. His father was tall, they said, but his mother was shorter than our does. He's actually shorter than Keci. He's Eric's goat, and he gets to pick out a name for him. He wanted to name him "Sparrow" or "Tonto." But Mother said no to them.
The Horses:
They are good, still untrained, but getting there! Amanda joined a couple horse groups, to have advice and help in training them. This one guy in Virginia said if she'd bring them down to him, he'd train them and board them for free, but I think the money it would take to go down there and the time it would take, it would be better if he came up here and we paid him to train them! But we are still learning about these things. Hopefully we'll be able to ride them by the end of this year. Amanda was really looking forward to riding them after we got them, but we won't get to for a while...(sniff)
The Dogs:
Are fine. We have Pemberly down in the barn for most of the day now. But Blonde stays in the house still, but we've taken here down to the barn a few times to be used to the goats. They are still afraid of the BIGGGGGG horses! To them, their HUGE! But they'll just have to get used to them, since Pemberly is going to be our "Cattle Dog!"
Chickens: Well, Mother hasn't ordered them yet because she is still deciding which kinds she wants to get. We got a booklet from TSC that has some breeds of chickens, turkeys and ducks, it has some links to some places where you can order chicks, ducklings, ect. so we went there. We want chickens for raising our own chicken to eat, and ducks for their eggs because they have bigger yokes than chicken eggs. We still have to find a place to keep them. And I founf out that a "pullet" is a laying hen. I couldn't figure out what a pullet was!

May the Lord bless and keep you and yours!
Sincerely,
Lady Rachel
