Some Things Ive Been Up To!
I have lots to tell you about! No pictures, that would take up even more space than what this post will already take up of my front page! Ok... I'll start out be telling about our trip to the Johnny Appleseed Festival.
We went on Sunday. It was the first time I’ve gone, so I figured there would be lots of things to do there, but not so many people because it was the last day they were having it. Little did I know, because it was PACKED! We got there around 12pm, and had to find a place to park. We got parked, and everyone filed out of the van, got Lucy in the stroller, and Caleb in the ergo. We each got paired up with a sibling. I lost mine when Isaac went to Dad.
We saw lots of Civil and Revolutionary War stuff. We got to see how to shoot a rifle, what the soldiers had to carry in their sacks, the food they ate, their uniforms, were told about a Civil War cannon, and what it was used for, and lots more! One of my favourite “tents” was the one with spindles. The women were separating the wool and wrapping it. It was really neat! There were a few other tents I liked, but I don’t want to name them all!
We ate lunch there. We each, (except Amanda) got a shredded BBQ chicken sandwich with chips and a drink. Everyone wanted caramel apples. We had been trying to find the tent for about 30min, when a kid who had just gotten one passed us, and we asked where they were. Caramel apples are one of my favourite treats! We all got them rolled in peanuts, except Joci; she didn’t. I couldn’t finish mine, though, because it was too much. We all had fun while at the festival, and we learned lots of stuff, which was the best part! I hope we can go next year too!
We met Eric and Mr. Novak last night. He and Mr. Novak drove up here from IL after looking at some houses. They didn’t get here until 9-9:30. They got lost. They got lost in Hunnington. They drove on the road behind our house, and they got the whole tour of South Whitley before they got here. They had to stop at the gas station to use the payphone. If the man in the gas station hadn’t been there, and the payphone worked, they would’ve called and said they weren’t coming. But they made it here safely!
We got to show Eric our horses and goats and chickens, after talking for a bit in the kitchen with him. He wanted to see the “naughty horse” that bit Amanda’s arm. So we took him down, and showed him all the animals. He had to know all the names of the goats before we came back up to the house.
Mr. Novak sat out in the living room and talked to Dad and Mom about their houses and stuff like that. He had lots of funny hunting stories to tell, and house stories and dog stories.
Eric also sat in the rocking chair and read to the Littles. He read them his version of the Chronicles of Narnia book, going by the pictures in the book. He was telling them, “And the Dwarf gave him some hot chocolate to drink. Then he tied his hands behind his back so he could scratch his back, and then he gave him some more hot chocolate...” and stuff like that. Then he read them from the Anne of Green Gables book. He went by the pictures in that one too, but I won‘t tell what he said. He was just being funny. The Littles were actually sitting and listening to him. It was funny.
We had a great time with them, but since they had to drive back to IL last night, they could only stay for a couple hours. I wish they could’ve stayed longer, but maybe some other time they will be able to stay longer.
I also started a new book: The Lord of the Rings. The first time, I read the first part of the first book, but never finished it. Then the second time, I read all through the 1st and 2nd books, and was on the 3rd, but never finished it. So now I am going to finish the ENTIRE TRILOGY! No stopping!
Right now, I’m at the part of the where they have just set out from Rivendell, or Imladris, in the Elven tongue. I started the book about six days ago. I’m in the middle of it right now. I really like this chapter. I hope to finish the Trilogy before my birthday.
Speaking of birthdays, Amanda’s is coming up, and guess what she wants to do for it? She wants all the bloggers we know to come up for a bonfire and BBQ cookout! Isn’t that the coolest thing?! She’s turning 18, and that’s a big number, right? I hope we can do it... that would be so much fun to have all the bloggers we know to come up!
She also wants to get a ‘caller’ to do dances, which would make it even more fun! We were just sitting in the living room talking, and Mom suggested we do something like a hayride and bonfire for her birthday. She has been looking for a person who has a tractor and a trailer to give hayrides, but so far she hasn’t found one. I hope we can work something out! It would be so much fun!
Alright, I think this post is long enough, don‘t you? Oh, I was given the Nice Matters Award, and I will be doing that soon. I was given it by two people... which means 14 people will receive it. Joci did hers. She got it like seven times! She had to do 42 bloggers! But she has 300-some friends, so that wasn’t a big deal! LOL!
Sincerely,
Lady Rachel

Lol, yep! I was reading the abridged versions of the books. I can read, but I wanted to be a little quieter and not disturb the parents. Hanna thought I was pretty funny ;)
Again, it was pretty neat meeting y'all.

Aren't you just the sweetest?
Of course you got the Nice Matters Award!
Your blog is an encouragement and fun to read too!
It was fun to meet the Novaks, too, wasn't it? There were only 2 things wrong with it: it wa too short, and we didn't get to meet Mrs. Novak and the girls!
Hopefully soon though, huh?
Love you!!!

Yeah, I haven't been to your blog in a long time either.
That's cool, I sure hope you'll be able to finish all three LOTR books this time! But you know, I don't even think I've finished all of the books....

Thanks, I haven't been to your blog in forever, either.
I don't know if it's just my PC, but i can't read any text on your sidebar, it's too close in color to your background.

Wow! I love reanactments! I've been to two, sorta.
Have you ever seen Little Bear Wheeler?
So, did Erik just walk into the gas station and ask where the family with eight children lives? We live in a small town but nobody can find our house so once someone stopped at the gas station and asked for the family with eleven kids!
I'll have to ask Amanda if she will square dance or do the virginia reel. I like both! LOL! Well, I wouldn't be able to come anyway. :(
