Our busy weekend
|
Well, we had high hopes of getting most
of our shopping done this weekend. HA! It is hard enough
shopping with a 2 year old, but add two indecisive adults into the
equation and it is hopeless! Well, maybe not quite that bad, but
we did not get much done (except stuff for Emeline of course). Saturday we spent a good amount of time at a mall (one that Sean works at on a weekly basis), which is where we got clothes for Emeline. Once we got home we were debating what to do for dinner and were rescued by friends, Alec & Kristen, who invited us over for a barbeque. Yes that does sound a bit strange...a barbeque in the middle of December, but they don't call it "Sunny California" for nuthin'! So off we went and had a great time. We are going to be spending christmas with them in Tahoe and are greatly looking forward to playing in the snow (especially since Emeline has new snow pants and jacket from Grammy and Peppy in New England). Kristen said she is so excited about christmas this year because Emeline will be there (they do not have any children and she has favored nations status with them). Today, after church...wait...church story first. I went to pick Emeline up from her Sunday school class and she saw me through the window before I got there. When I walked in she was crying and the teacher said she was fine until she saw me and then she started to cry. We have been doing really well since moving here and she has never cried when I leave her in the class so I was a bit confused. Then I heard her say something about the park and it dawned on me what was wrong. I asked the teacher if they had gone to the playground today and the didn't because they thought it would be too cold for the kids. Emeline knew that they usually got to play on the playground before I came to get her and she was sad that they didn't go. Needless to say, we played on the playground before we left. So after church we decided to go out for lunch and then try our hand at shopping again. We ended up driving around for quite a while and finally found someplace new to eat. It just so happened to be accross the street from an IKEA store...ever been in one of those? I never had and I definately plan on going back...WOW...they have some cool stuff...and nice play areas for the kids (not to mention a restaurant...we could have made one stop had we known). We got a new computer desk (which we desperately needed) and a small shelf for Emeline's CD player and shoes. oooo and Sean found me a flour sifter like my mom has that I have searched high and low for. One of those that you squeeze the handle and the little blades inside scootch over the mesh and sound like "shhka, shhka, shhka". Guess what is going to be in my stocking christmas morning? hee hee Then we got home about 3:30 and hurried over to the community center for the Mother's club christmas party (they called it the "holiday part" but we know the truth and the truth shall set us free!!) Emeline got her picture taken with Santa and made some cool crafts and had snacks (sugar coated and veggies too....good girl). We had donated some toys to the toy co-op and got our name in for a raffle. We won passes to Coyote Point Museum (I will add the link here so you can check it out). Should be fun for a family trip. Well, that was our excitement for the weekend. Guess I will be shopping with Emeline during the week...luckily she is usually pretty good and likes going to the store. Stay tuned... |
