Oh Christmas tree...

We had playgroup today and met at one of the mom's homes instead of the park.  Emeline had a great time playing with the kids and I got some nice visiting time too.  The little boy who's house we went to had a game called "Elephun".  My sister used to have one of these for her boys and I had forgotten all about it.  It is a little elephant with a fan inside.  He has a long thin plastic nose and you fill the base with fabric butterflys.  When you turn the fan on the butterflies swirl up and out through his nose and the kids try to catch them in little butterfly nets.  Emeline had a ball, the rest of the kids got tired of it after a few trys but not her, she would probably still be there if I let her.  I think she may get one of those for Christmas!

After playgroup we went to Rite-Aid and picked out a christmas tree (yes, it seems bizzare to me too, christmas trees at the drug store, but we take what we can get and the price was right).  When we got home I told Emeline she had to take a nap and we could decorate it when daddy got home.  I put the lights on and ran some red ribbon around it while she was sleeping.  When she woke up she was so excited she wanted to decorate it right away, so we put on the christmas music and got busy.  Our daddy came home while we were decorating and although he still had some work to do he encouraged and cheered us on while we decorated (it helps that the tree is right next to the computer).  After we finished she started dancing around and making up a silly song about decorating the tree and that we were going to take it down and bring it to Tahoe with us and decorate it again when we got there.  (hmmm...not so sure about that!).

After supper she got her jammies on and picked out a christmas book and her daddy read to her by the tree while I finished cleaning the kitchen.  She is so excited about christmas it makes it soooo much fun (and it was lots and lots of fun before she came along...imagine how much more so it is now!)

Dec. 19, 2005 - Traveling tree

Posted by Jjlrdomom

Hey Beck....we've moved a tree. Our first year here in Louisiana, we had gone home to CT for the Dads' birthdays and came back with a Christmas tree (3 days in the back of the truck, but it made it!) then we set the tree up at our house, and THEN we ended up moving so we had to take the tree down, move it, and then we found out it was too tall for the new house, so we had to cut it. It just wasn't quite the same tree that it had been when we left Mom and Dad's, but hey, it was a tree! Free too, I believe. We have fake now....the price of ugly trees down here is ridiculous!

Anyway, love you lots. When do you head to Ta-O?

We leave on Friday (12/23) and come home on Monday (12/26). Actually, the boys are the ones that have to be back on Tuesday, we girls may stay a little longer and come back later in the week, depends on how the weekend goes...we'll see. Although, after the big storm we got this weekend, there ought to be LOTS of snow!! Yipee!!

Kid's make Christmas so much fun! My three love decorating the tree. It gets wild sometimes, and the decorations are not evenly spaced. But I am sure the kids enjoy it!

Your daughter is adorable! I love how kids gets so excited about things like decorating trees...things that to me just seem like CHORES! I'm trying to ride the wave of my kids' excitement this year, otherwise I just wouldn't bother.

BTW, noticed you'd listed me as a friend so I've done the same. I'll be sure to check back soon. Do you I know you from the Sonlight boards?
