letter to grannie
|
Dear Grannie,
It seemed that you were gone for a long time to Israel. I missed you lots and I want to thank you for the pink skirt that you brought back for me.
Even though your trip was last year, I still remember the day when you gave me your gift. Opening the bag, I was pleased to receive the pink skirt with purple swirls. A bit later I tried on the skirt and was able to tie the long ties all by myself. When I went in your room, you smiled and I felt proud. As well, I learned how to make the skirt into a shirt. Mom has my skirt in a special place for a special day.
I wonder if all the girls in Israel wear those skirts. Do they look like ballerinas when they spin around like I do? When I wear the skirt I feel like I’m at your house with you. Thank you for getting me such a pretty present.
Your favourite granddaughter,
Robin Grace Jespersen

What a beautiful letter Robin. I did search hard for those skirts, because I saw them for ladies and I only found the ones for little girls at one place. It was a crowded little stall in the Jaffa market. I bargained hard with the man because I needed 10 little skirts...haha...that was a little embarrassing... and then I had to choose them and it was hard....trying to think who would look cute in what...10 times....so I'm glad you liked them. You can use them as a cape when they no longer fit as a skirt!
