Maybe I'm feeling a little old fashioned today, but after reading my sister's blog about brooms and my friend's blog about old blue canning jars I just started thinking about what you really need in a kitchen. 
Brooms, aprons and canning jars.  Those are the essentials.  They make your kitchen homey and clean.

I really enjoy my basket of clean plaid and floral dish clothes. I have more than I'll ever need; but I use the extra to wrap warm loaves of bread to give to friends and neighbors.
I also love my kitchen window where I can look out at the birds and squirrels on our backporch.
