And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not. Galatians 6:9

Sep. 24, 2009 - Where do you get your news?

Posted in Bits and Pieces

Where do you turn to find your news?

Are they a reliable source or are they corrupt?

The past few years and especially the past few weeks has shown that the majority of mainstream media is corrupt.

Did you see reports on the March on Washington on September 12th?
The picture at this link shows a panoramic view of the gathering.  It shows an enormous gathering of people who paid their own way to protest big government.  Somehow the mainstream media didn't consider it newsworthy.

Have you heard the scandal about ACORN and the NEA?  Go checkout biggovernment.com(If you are a young person, please get your parents permission before clicking on that link.)  Somehow mainstream media didn't consider it newsworthy (at first).

My favorite quote for the day, "BigGovernment.com is reporting the news so mainstream media doesn't have to."

May. 9, 2009 - How you can help Little Tait

Posted in Bits and Pieces

From May 9 - June 1, $10 from every "Library" sale in Breezy's Etsy shop will be donated to the Little Tait Fund. To order, click here.

Little Tait was born on November 6, 2008 at 3:29 pm, a 27 week preemie weighing 2 pounds 9 ounces, and 14¼ inches long. He and his family spent several months in the hospital as God used the doctors to help sustain his life. After 3 months he was allowed to go home, doing very well.

Tait's parents, Tait and Lauren Zimmerman now have to pay the neonatology bill. It was originally $186,769 but was negotiated and reduced to $51,644.35. If it isn't paid by June 4th, it will be raised to the original amount. Tait and Lauren have decided not to accept government support, as this would restrict their control in the care of their little boy.

Would you like to help Little Tait and his parents? We will be donating $10 of every "Library" print sale to the Little Tait Fund! If you choose to help them by buying a print, be sure it's before June 2. For more info on Little Tait, visit www.LittleTait.com

Thank you and God bless!
Robin

Apr. 23, 2009 - Why would you not want to take back something you loaned?

Posted in Bits and Pieces

I read this interesting story about socialism over at Basketflat's blog.

Then today I read this article about socialism.  It sounds as though once a socialistic government gets it hands on you they don't want to let go.  But why?

Apr. 16, 2009 - Anyone for a spot of Tea?

Posted in Bits and Pieces

We had a wonderful turnout at the Indianapolis Tea Party yesterday.  The Indianapolis Star reported that there were at least 2,000 people in attendance, but the police working the event estimated 13,000 to 15,000.  That is quite a difference in reporting.  We were told during the rally that they believed there were at least 10,000 present.

The mainstream media doesn't understand what is happening and is putting a ridiculous twist on the reporting of the Tax Day Tea Parties that happened all across the United States.  Just so you know, we thought it was a very family friendly event.

To read about the Tea Parties and information about all the different cities that held them you can click here.  It is really amazing to read about all the Americans who came together to say ENOUGH!

A dear friend took this picture of us before the rally began and people were still streaming in.

Have you been studying American History?  We have in the past, but we are definitely diving back into it.

Jan. 5, 2009 - Where did she come from??

Posted in Bits and Pieces

Where did the first caveman get his wife?

Why do people ask "Where did Cain get his wife?"
Shouldn't the question be "Where did the caveman get his wife?"

Could a male and female evolve at exactly the same time to reproduce?

And how much evolving would they have to do simultaneously to reproduce?

And how did they know to evolve separately into male and female?
I thought "cavemen" were supposed to be, you know, sort of dumb.

Nov. 21, 2008 - Tagged

Posted in Bits and Pieces

I was tagged by Trisch over at Never a Dull Moment.  I am to list 6 unspectacular things about me.

Okay, hold on to your seats......

1. I have two stitches sticking out of my forehead.  Just a little cyst removed, but hey it looks (and sounds) a little tragical.

2. I have been getting up at 5 AM everyday this week.  Meeting with the Lord early and then being a little goofy the rest of the day for lack of sleep.

3. Warm rice bags in winter make me happy.

4. I have been to two tea parties in the past month and both parties had homemade napkins.  They were delightful and so pretty.  They were made of all different patterns and it just added to their charm.

5. I am planning on making napkins for my family and then I will have to have a tea party, right?

6. The above cyst on my head could have been because being a homeschool mom my brain was just full and starting to spill out......no one else believed it either.

So there you have it.

What about you? Do you have any unspectacular things you would like to share?  Consider yourself tagged.  Oh yeah, that is one more unspectacular thing about me, I usually end my tags this way.

Oct. 8, 2008 - A beautiful fall day

Posted in Bits and Pieces

This past Sunday was a beautiful fall day.  Warm and sunny, light breeze-just perfect.  We decided to take the blankets out and just hang out in the back yard. Of course, the paints and the camera came, too.

Emily spotted this praying mantis underneath the picnic table.

Breezy brought her pocket palette and basket of supplies.  Bently enjoyed the sun by snoozing and rolling around on the blanket.  He also drank some of Breezy's paint water when she wasn't looking.

I watched this praying mantis fly in from the field and land in the oak tree.  When we got up to get a closer look, it turned it's head and looked right at us.  Just creepy.  I thought it was strange that we would see two of these on the same day.

Breezy painted several little scenes, this one is looking to the southwest.

We never really made a habit of nature studies.  It was always hit and miss, but over the years the girls have realized what a treasure it is to capture what we are seeing and experiencing.

Jul. 15, 2008 - Random happenings around our home

Posted in Bits and Pieces

We have been enjoying a beautiful summer.  The weather has not been hot and muggy, which is so unusual for this time of year.  We've been having the windows open and letting the breeze come through the house.  It makes it feel so peaceful. And occasionally we have had a summer storm come through with all the amazing clouds and wind.  The latest storm was to the south of us and we were not affected by it, other than the awe of watching it blow in.  Emily and Breezy both took several pictures of it and Emily was able to catch this one with the lightening striking.  You have to look to the middle of the picture to see it.

When she took that picture there was no wind blowing around us at all.  It was one of those calms before the storm, but it stayed to the south of us.

Jocelyn interviewed Breezy for The Homeschool Blog Awards site, you can read that interview here. She won the 2007 Best Artistic Content Blog Award and they have interviews of the different winners in the Wednesday Winners column.

Emily has been doing a weekly craft post for The Backyard and this past week her post was on making a flower dryer.  It was made using the leftover twigs from our trellis in my last post.  It is hanging in my kitchen and it is just adorable.  The Backyard is a blog on HomeSchoolBlogger for the young people on HSB.

Last week we went to a library book sale, went to a family reunion out of town, and then on Sunday we hosted our church family for a picnic in our backyard.

This week this handsome man and I are going to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.  It amazes me how fast the time has gone.

More to post on that event later!

Jul. 10, 2008 - A Place for My Morning Glories

Posted in Bits and Pieces

I have always loved morning glories.  They are such a pretty flower and they remind me of God's precious mercies.  There are new blooms everyday just for that day.  But unlike my morning glories, that fade as the heat of the day bears down on them, the Lord's compassions never fail!

The Lord's lovingkindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
Lamentations 3:22-23

This spring we trimmed back our pear trees and I decided to save the branches to make a trellis out of them.  I had planted morning glories along the west side of our little garage before, but they didn't get enough morning sun to really bloom well, so they needed a new place to grow.  We have a pole just sitting in our back yard beyond our little garden that must have held a martin house at one time so I decided that would be a good place to plant them.  I planted them several weeks ago and have been watching them take root and grow.  This past week my husband and I put the trellis together and put it in place.  I laid out the branches the way that I wanted them and my husband and I took some wire and secured all the intersections and then I took some twine and covered the wires, so it would look a little more homey.

You can see the little vine beginning to climb on the trellis.

Here is a picture from the front of the garden looking towards the trellis.  I am so looking forward to seeing them climb up the trellis and begin blooming.

May. 1, 2008 - Kitchen Essentials

Posted in Bits and Pieces

Maybe I'm feeling a little old fashioned today, but after reading my sister's blog about brooms and my friend's blog about old blue canning jars I just started thinking about what you really need in a kitchen.
Brooms, aprons and canning jars.  Those are the essentials.  They make your kitchen homey and clean.
