The past 2 months have been nothing short of miraculous!
From the start with a simple comment about "Hey, why don't you do some paper dolls", to the packages arriving by freight today, it has been just an amazing adventure.
This morning the girls received 2 copies of each booklet of the final printing. We were expecting the big shipment by freight at a local receiving dock later in the day, so this was a sweet blessing to get to see them early.
Getting their first peek!
They finally get to hold the finished books in their hands. After working long days, 6 days a week for several weeks.......They're really real!!
Here is a closer look at the books, they are so pretty and elegant.
Breezy and Emily Rose holding the finished booklets! It has been a real joy and blessing to see the girls work together on this project. Only by God's grace has this all come together!
These will be available on their new website on October 7! There will also be a special Grand Opening Sale! So check back over the next few days for more details.
Bless the Lord,
O my soul,
and all that is within me,
bless his holy name! Psalm 103:1
"One of the values that we see in the home education movement as these young men and young women are getting their hands into things early on is they have the flexibility
to be creative,
to express themselves,
to learn,
to be entrepreneurial."
Have you ever met someone in person for the first time and spent days with them and LOVED it? I mean the whole experience- the people, the conversations, the laughter, the joy of finally being able to talk in person- we loved it! Last week Sarah Mae and her family came to stay with us for our own little retreat.
Oh my, we had so much fun. You know when you share your testimonies and talk about how the Lord is working in your life it makes for sweet fellowship. The Lord has been so gracious to both of our families. He is truly to be praised.
Me, Sarah Mae, Emily Rose and Breezy.
My husband took a couple of days off work so he and Sarah Mae's husband, Jesse, could spend time together, too. I think they had as good a time as us girls. When it was time for them to go home, the men had a harder time saying goodbye than us girls. :) Iron sharpening iron!
One of our days together was spent going to the Creation Museum near Cincinnati, OH. Below is a picture I took of one of my favorite signs at the museum.
Emily and I in front of the raptor exhibit. This is another of my favorites at the museum.
Jesse and their two oldest children walking through the gardens at the Creation Museum.
We spent the majority of the other days visiting either outside under our big oak tree or at the computer while Emily Rose and Sarah Mae worked on the design of her website. I am sure the rest of us were somewhat of a distraction since we were all talking so much.
While we talked the children played and romped around. I really enjoyed having little people around again, my girls have grown up too fast.
Here is the youngest cutey-pie of the bunch. These little ones are so blessed to be growing up in a family where they will be loved and nurtured in the Lord.
Sarah Mae with my young ladies. She is really as authentic and loving in real life as she is on her blog. What a blessing it was to get to spend time together. It was indeed sweet fellowship!
It is truly amazing how God can bring families together!
My husband and I are celebrating our 26th Wedding Anniversary today!!
I have been so blessed to be married to such a wonderful man. He is such a humble, hard-working, loving husband and father. When the Lord called us to homeschool, he jumped in with both feet and has stood strong, never wavering or questioning our calling. He has been so supportive and helpful in encouraging me daily in my tasks here at home.
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the path of sinners,
Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
But his delight is in the law of the Lord,
And in His law he meditates day and night.
He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its leaf does not wither;
And in whatever he does, he prospers.
Psalm 1:1-3
This past Saturday we celebrated Breezy's graduation with an open house. Thankfully, the weather held out for us and we had a beautiful day. Here Emily Rose is decorating our tree, Maggie (not pictured) was also helping decorate.
Emily Rose made these garlands and they turned out just adorable. They gave our big oak tree such a festive look.
It was encouraging for so many of our friends and family to come celebrate with us throughout the afternoon.
Breezy with her dear friend, Kate.
My sweet sister who helped keep everything running smoothly.
Rob and I with our lovely daughter.
Monday morning found us down at our local library putting up Breezy's art show.
Here is Breezy standing in front of her Senior Art Show. It will be on display for almost the whole month of June. What a wonderful finish for her formal home education.
For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified us to share in the inheritance of the saints in Light.
Colossians 1 :9-12
What a beautiful day we have had celebrating my lovely daughter's graduation from our homeschool. We will be posting pics and more tidbits of the day at a later time. After cleaning up we came in and Maggie told us that she had written a post in honor of the day. You can read my niece Maggie's post here, go ahead, go read it, it's sweet.
We have been busily preparing for Breezy's graduation open house that we are having this weekend - making lots of food, getting some scrapbooks together (they are really just a collection of pictures, nothing fancy), gathering up some simple decorations, hoping and praying for good weather since we are planning on having it outside.
We are also getting things together for Breezy's "Senior Art Show" that will be at our local library during the whole month of June. We have been collecting, making and buying frames and have most everything ready to go. Just for your info, Rob has become a master at cutting mat board and framing art work. It is very exciting to see all of this come together, she will be displaying around 20-22 pieces. We had her prepare for this show as her senior "project".
I am a little sad to see her "formal" homeschool years come to a close, but she isn't moving away and is going to continue learning throughout life, so I will be okay.
Emily Rose is currently designing a website for some friends of ours that is starting a home-based business. (That is her final project for the school year.) She also keeps very busy creating things for us on the computer and by making these little cuties.
And the Lord has been blessing the Zimmerman family with help from all over the world! The Little Tait Preemie Fund has reached it's first milestone of raising over $51,000. They are now working towards the other bills that are still astronomical, with the Lord's help these will be met also. Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace!
Saturday morning we had the privilege to participate in decorating a local military cemetery with small American flags. The girls' 4-H group went to help and it turned out to be such a blessing to us. As we walked along each headstone and placed a flag in front of them, it was so humbling to see the vast number of headstones and to read their names and reflect of the service that they have given to our country. The picture above is just a small portion of the cemetery.
Some of their names stood out as we recognized names and thought about the parents that named them.
This one had some small stones on it, I believe it is a Jewish custom to put small rocks at the grave to show respect and that someone has visited the grave.
While we went without really knowing what to expect, we were really blessed by being there and taking part in honoring those that have gone before. Lord willing, we will go back next year as a family and do it again.
I am writing this with tears in my eyes. Tears of deep gratitude to my Lord and Savior. Why did I deserve His lovingkindness? I didn't deserve a drop of His lovingkindness, but He has been gracious to me and filled my heart to overflowing with gladness.
Today my husband left for Georgia with our daughters, to take them to the Father Daughter Retreat hosted by Vision Forum Ministries. For those of you who have known us for years, you know that this is a miracle in itself. Only by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ has this happened. That is enough to bring tears to my eyes, but today, again by the grace of the Lord, my daughters have guest posts up at Like a Warm Cup of Coffee and reading them brought me to tears.
You can read their very gracious posts here and here.
I hear no greater joy than this, to hear of my children walking in truth.
3 John 1:4
These photos were taken while we were at Columbus, GA for the Christians at the Crossroads Conference. Can you tell we were having fun getting these pictures taken?
Geoff Botkin was joined by his entire family as they brought us messages of hope and encouragement. It was such a treat to hear all of his children speak at different times throughout the conference. When your children rise up and praise the Lord and encourage others through His word it is indeed a blessing.
This was taken outside our hotel in Chattanooga, TN on our trip home. Chattanooga is such a pretty city to see at night, with all the lights, the hills and the river.
Last week we had an early 18th birthday party for Breezy. We had it early due to her grandpa having surgery today. (please pray for Bob, he is having knee surgery this morning) I am so glad that we had it early because Emily and I both came down sick yesterday and we are expecting a snow storm today.
Breezy is such a lovely young lady. She has been a wonderful daughter, student, sister, granddaughter, cousin, niece, friend to all of us. I am so thankful for her and the blessing that she has been in our lives.
Happy 18th Birthday Breezy Tulip!
Here are some verses for you this day.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge
Proverbs 1:7a
Trust in the Lord with all your heart
and do not lean on your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
Proverbs 3:5-6
He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
and to walk humbly with your God?
Micah 6:8
Have I not commanded you?
Be strong and courageous!
Do not tremble or be dismayed,
for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.
