"You can trust us to stick to you through thick and thin - to the bitter end. And you can trust us to keep any secret of yours - closer than you keep it yourself. But you cannot trust us to let you face trouble alone, and go off without a word. We are your friends, Frodo."
Which Lord of the Ring Character are you?

I'm a Hobbit!

Me Again

Hello Everyone Again.

I am actually considering staying as a blogger.

Thanks for all your apologies, they weren't really neccacary, I totally understand what you were saying and you were only stating your opinions, there is no need to apologize for stating your opinion.

Though I must say some of you are very off track in your assumptions. I will not specify who, but, please, in further comments, please do not assume something of someone so serious as believing in God. This is a very serious matter and I don't think that someone should go around flaunting the idea that someone doesn't believe in God.

Just as a question to those who are against Harry Potter for the reason of the magical world being connected to the real world. What about The Chronicles of Narnia? That magical world is connected in the real world. So, how can you say Narnia is okay, but not Harry Potter. I am not trying to start another heated debate, just a thought.

Hello

Hi, Sry I haven't commented in a while. I have been reading your last few posts. I just have to say I understand what you mean. And I think some people should not assume certan things. I believe that Women were made you 'help' man not 'serve' man. There is a BIG difference! And Being single your whole life isn't 'horrible' (in my opinion) It's not the path for me, but if thats what some believes is right for them, it's ok. ......And I do not watch or read HP for my own reasons. But I have nothing against other people haveing anyting to do with that. I think people can have their own opinion....But they need to let OTHER people have THIER own opinion!!!! You shouldn't force you opinion on someone else. Well, Enough Said. I could keep going on and on. But enough said. I hope you come by my blogg soon!
TTYL!

P.S. I hope you choose to stay in the blogger world!!!!!

I wrote that for you...

So glad to hear that you are staying... and I'm glad you got opinions from all over the globe. ;)

As for Narnia... C.S. Lewis was a Christian - he wrote Narnia as allegory to the Bible; he even said so. As you look in the Bible you will see witches, evil men, Satanists, etc... it is no different in Narnia. Aslan is "Jesus" the White Witch is one (Satan) who will reign for a time before the true king returns... The witch as servants of this world as does Aslan.

Lewis used mythology with fawns and dryads and so on - but I think that was to draw people in, mostly the unsaved. He wanted it to be interesting to the people who think that the Bible isn't.

As you see in Narnia Aslan gives up his life for Edmund - As Jesus did for us, sinners, and was tormented/beaten/slain by the Witch (again Satan)... but He defeats death as Jesus did and defeats the Witch as Jesus did. It was something the witch didn't understand - you can't kill the King. The Witch like Satan thinks she has power and has won - but Aslan or Jesus can't be defeated....

That is just a few things that I will state about Narnia - Lewis gave us a wonderful story , an alegory, of the Bible that, perhaps, will make people dig deeper, as you are, and learn the Truth behind the fiction.

I don't know if you know anything about JK Rowling - I will tell you - she grew up playing with her friend, Ian Potter, in which their play was about being witches and wizards, using spells and flying on broom sticks... The story of Harry Potter is based a lot on Rowling's childhood. When she grew a little more she actually became a witch. She used the spells in her the Harry Potter books - I have researched her many times (so I know what I am talking about) and she has said this herself. She is not ashamed of being a witch. Witchcraft is clearly stated in the Bible as being evil - it is a sin - and we are instructed to stay away from it. I would not read a book in which the author was/is a witch, who is pagan and who does not believe the same as me. She calls humans muggles - the lesser beings - this is a slang to me because we as humans were created in God's image and she is saying witches/wizards are better then us, then God.

As you read, if you got a chance to read it, on the OneBlog that Gandalf's power was not magic - it was given by him from God and if he had turned evil and join Sauron - that power would have been taken away from him - as Saruman's was. In LOTR the wizards act as Archangels (like in the Bible the angels Michael & Gabriel) and guides to the peoples of Middle Earth. It's not the same as a witch as in pagan terms. I suppose Tolkien could've been a little more created in naming the Wizards but I guess he had too much on his mind with created the Elvish language... LOL and the wizards are also called the White Council or the Order.

I hope this will give you a better idea of the differences between the two...

Again, glad you're staying! Hope you will blog and drop me a comment...

Love your hobbity friend,
Jocelyn

ps. so can I am curious - are you a Biblical Believer?

a comment to Rosy...

Here is something the Bible says about women ...

1 Timothy 2: 9-15
9 In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;
10But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.
11Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.
12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.
13For Adam was first formed, then Eve.
14And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
15Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing, if they continue in faith and charity and holiness with sobriety.

Love
Jocelyn

Dear Rosie,

I agree with what Jocelyn said about the Chronicles of Narnia.

It sounds like you’re trying to get as close to the line as possible without actually crossing it. If you even think that it might be wrong to read the Harry Potter books, and if you think that reading them would be going against the Bible, then stop reading them! I only say that because it sounds like you’re confused about them and aren’t sure if it’s okay to or not. I used to be in that position, and before I knew for sure that it was wrong to read them, I stopped. It’s better to be safe than sorry (or feeling guilty for doing what you think is wrong).

That being said, I don’t want to discourage you from blogging! I hope you'll stay. You've brought up some interesting topics, to say the least. :-)

In Christ,
Mandy

Hi Rosie,
I am sorry about the comments you got. I don't really agree with you about everything, but I know that we all have different opinions and I would not want to argue about them now.

About Harry Potter. I have not read it, (though I have read lots of reviews and commentaries on it) so I don't want to say very much, and I won't give my opinion.

But about Narnia. I have read these books and, since you would like to know other's thoughts on the subject, I will give in my ideas in brief. The connection between Narnia and the real world was, I think, a little different. The only way that the children got into Narnia was being sent there by Aslan in times of need. The magic all took place in Narnia, where it was 'legal,' different from our world. It is true that in the Magician's Nephew' a man named Andrew, (in case you have not read the books) tried to meddle with magic and suceeded in making a connection between our world and other worlds with magic rings. This was VERY VERY VERY clearly shown as VERY VERY VERY wrong and he was punished in the end. It is made clear throught out the book thats magic is above human authority to deal with and Aslan never used the rings Andrew made to send the children to Narnia. Now I am really writing too much. I hope you understand my point. Again, this is not meant to be offensive, just trying to clear things up.

Legolas

P.S. Have you read the Narnia books? If so, maybe you can understand what I am trying to say. Have a great day!

I knew that you enjoyed Lord of the Rings so I thought you might like this rather whimsical sketch or what Nazgul might look like in the future.
