Books and More Books!

This entry keeps disappearing on me. Oh
well. I wanted to post something. I've had a good day, and it's been a
day of adding new books to my home library. Can any homeschooling
family have too many books? I love being able to sit down and go
through some of my new additions. Today, I found a lovely book on
Impressionism, and a book on Chinese cooking. I'm looking forward
to spending time in both of them. I also ordered a book from Book
Swappers. It will be another craft book to add to my interesting
collection.

Off to College!?!

My
youngest spent the last few days visiting the college he has decided he
would like to attend. He came back motivated to get busy doing all the
necessary preparations to go.
He hasn't made it home yet, so I will soon find out what those things
are. I like to see ambition, self-motivation and a real desire to
accomplish something in my children. My oldest is nearing the end of
his college days, well, at least the end of a bachelor's degree. He too
was self-motivated and ambitious, even more than my youngest, but
hopefully it's contagious!! They both are moving in the right
direction.
Homeschooling and Spaghetti

I
think I've managed to learn to navigate this site a little, but it's
still a bit confusing to me. Oh, well. I'm sure eventually I'll get the
hang of it!

My youngest, now 18, made a wonderful batch of spaghetti for dinner
this evening. I feel homeschooling was very important to my children,
as all of them were able to pursue their interests and had the energy
and time to do so. For my oldest, it was learning to play guitar. All 3
of my children were in public school at one point in their lives, but
my oldest came home so tired from school that he didn't have the energy
to pursue many personal interests. I know homeschooling isn't right for
everyone, but I know it was for us.

I love being able to see a young one's curiosity blossom and grow
and develop into a lifelong interest. I just hope none of my children
become like their mother and have too many interests!!
My son's spaghetti turned out so wonderfully, and he just grabbed a
little of this and a bit of that to put it together. He knows what he
likes and what tastes good, and he instinctively
created a wonderful meal. I'm so glad he chose such an important interest, one that he can share with his whole family.
Hi! I just signed up today!

This
is totally new to me, blogging I mean. I've heard of it, but never
actually checked it out myself. I'm really excited to find this web
site, especially since it's in one of my favorite areas, homeschooling.
Schooling has become such an important part of our lives, I find myself
always in the mind set to help encourage my little neighbor children to
learn about something, which was really easy over the summer with our
garden growing and all the little creepy crawlies around. Children have
such natural curiosities, and I really miss those days with young ones
around. They seem to grow up waaay too fast!! I guess I should mention
that our family is a homeschooling family, but we've moved past the
days of looking for bugs and learning to read. My guys are all young
adults now.
