First day of Kindergarden

GTS started his first day of kindergarten. Hubby and I have both have a cold, but I got it first, so technically I am better off. So I ended up taking him alone. We also have an aunt who might be dieing so hubby had to drive the two hours to the ICU to check on her and whether or not we need to bring in the living will. So everything is starting to happen all at the same time. It did not make for a peaceful nights sleep.

GKS is still in her Logopathy. She is still lisping, but what can you expect with one front tooth out and the other holding on for dear life to stay in.

GTH is doing quite well. He has his moments, but he really is a good kid.

Rug vs. Carpet

It is interesting trying to hold on to your language and teach it to your children while living in another country.
My youngest (5)was denied to move up to the next group in our English club, because he did not speak enough English. He understands English, but word evade him when he tries to speak. So we have been doing a crash English course in our house for the last 3 weeks. No German TV, no German books, no German music. He is speaking more, not sure if it is enough to move him up in 3 weeks since he is starting kindergarten.(Another post)
We have been working on "Teach You Child to Read in 100 Lessons". GKS is up to lesson 35 and was sounding out the word rug. Then asked me "What it a rug?" I have been calling them carpets. We have items that are small enough to call rugs, but I never use the word. It is rough using this book, because there are certain small words I very rarely use when talking. Even words like luck. I don't believe in it. We don't gamble so the word has never come up. Even jam and jelly, because we use marmalade.(Grandma makes it from the trees in her garden.)
