And the Saga Continues... - Homeschool Blogger

You really want to know about me? Okay...you asked for it...
Here's a short list of the things I love in life:
late nights,
Hannah's grin,
blue jeans,
dancing in the rain (or anywhere!),
my amazing friends who try to be cool but aren't (and because of that they are),
the smell of my dad's work truck,
black shirts,
handling reptiles,
my brother's curly-blonde hair,
reading while relaxing on my bed,
eating yellow curry with my cousins,
going on insanely hard hikes,
jamming out to rock music,
my mom's voice,
snake hunting,
crying out to Jesus when I just can't seem to handle it... weird, I know. Welcome to my blog! Hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it.

September 13, 2009

Wow, it's been a while! I wonder how many of my old homeschool blogger friends are still blogging? Any of you out there?
It's about 3am my time, and I am up working on a writing assignment for college. Yes, I said college, but no, I'm not that old. I started three dual credit courses this semester and they are keeping me busy! I'm just visiting my blog, looking for some inspiration.
Inspiration is hard to come by...
Writing has turned out to be my outlet, a way for me to take a deep breath and let everything out. I think I may pick up blogging again. Facebook is great, but you can't write much, and even if you did, most people don't take the time to read it. At least here, I know I'll have an audience - and hopefully some old friends.
So, expect to hear from me soon! I hope to hear from you.
In Christ,
Jess, aka Antelope

Needless to say, I have been BUSY!

So, hello again. It is I, Jess aka Antelope. In case you forgot.

There has been SOOOOO much going on lately...good and bad. I need prayer, if you're thinking of me. But otherwise, I am fine. Just incrediably busy. Really super busy. So busy that I don't even have time to elaborate on my life at this moment. I will try to get a more detailed post up soon - but I am not promising anything.

And to those of you I know, at least somewhat, I have moved on to facebook. So, if you have one, let me know and I will add ya.

Wow...

This (very short) post is for all those people out there who are pestering me to write. I am unbelievably busy right now, but after June 7th I may be able to give more details on what I'm about to abbreviate here.

My days as of the last month have been spent thus: getting baptized (praise the Lord! I have pictures to share later), sailing (more pictures), going to Oklahoma and Arkansas on 12 mile three day backpacking trips, school (naturally), dance (my recital is June 7th - I am dancing at my studio four days a week now, anywhere from 4.5 to 8 hours a week - simply preparing for the end-of-year recital), cooking, watching "Prince Caspian" (and hopefully Indiana Jones this weekend!).

Well, my time's up. Gotta run, but I will be checking my blog in between now and June 7th. If you leave me a comment I will try and reply asap...but don't expect too much just yet. =D

My weekend...and a few pictures.

This weekend my family and I ventured out to a Venturing Crew camp out at a local BSA campground. Friday night we pretty much just set up camp and met the other crews, but our Saturday was really when the fun started. We spent almost the whole day at the shooting range. I shot two pistols (a revolver and an automatic) about 10 times and also a black powder rifle (about half as many). It was SO MUCH FUN. I would have loved to shoot more, but there were a ton of people waiting in line for their turn. I kept a few of the automatic's shell casings. xD I think I must be a weird, sentimental person. LOL.

Here are a few pictures...enjoy!

This is my crazy brother...enjoying his first cookie before bed.

And this is my brother after a few too many cookies...I think he overdosed on sugar. =D

Here's my sister, looking cute in her pj's...she, also, had quite a few cookies, but looks a little calmer than Josh. lol

Me, Hannah, and Dad at our camp site...I look half dead. =O

My siblings, hanging out Saturday morning. The bright blue tent in the background is mine (I shared it with Hannah) - the other one is my friend's.

My dad, enjoying the outdoors. (It's only been like, 8 years since our last camping excursion...) And by the way, I told him to suck it in...lol =D

Mr. H. (my crew leader) and a friend's dad, posing for the picture. =D

Ashley, Richard, Tracy, Ben, Rachel, and me - the few of our crew that made the camp out. (Tracy is actually from another crew, but she hangs out with us sometimes). We took about a dozen group pictures, but this one is the ONLY one that looked decent. =O This was right before I left (we left early because we thought Joshua had gotten into some poison ivy...he's okay though).

All in all, I had a blast. Can ya tell? =) Can't wait until our next trip - to Oklahoma. It's a two-day-three-night shakedown in preparation for the Rockies - 15 mile hike. Our potential Rocky Mountain trip (July) is over 50 miles, but we have a whole week to finish it. We're gonna hike Long's Peak!

Well, I gotta run - I'm watching Cars with my brother and sister. Don't you dare laugh now... ;D

Sunday, March 23

Happy Easter to all of you! Remember to praise Jesus on this day, and forget about the usual Easter celebrations. This holiday was created initially to honor Christ, so let's make it that again!

I'd love to hear about your Easter...so, when you comment me, you have to include one thing you did today. Okay?

Jess

By the way, for those of you who didn't know, my Aunt Debra, who was battling lung cancer, went to be with the Lord on Good Friday at 12:45am. Prayers are appreciated for my family, as celebrating holidays without family members can be tough. We are praising God, though - her pain is ended, and she is with Jesus! This would be (if days were valid in Heaven) her third day in Eternity. Hallelujah!!

Cheers for Emma, who gave me my 400th comment! *w00t!*

So... (very deep, I know)

For all you kind people who inquired about my exams, they went really, really well. The examiners were super friendly (for a change!) and the exam that usually lasts for over an hour took merely 55 minutes! Surprised me. My teacher, Melissa, called me Monday and told me I had passed, which is a huge relief but honestly not too surprising. I just want to know how I passed! You can get a
"Retake" (which states the obvious)
"Conditional pass" (which means you can't take another exam for a few years...I guess they're so sick of watching you dance, the prohibit you from dancing in front of them! lol) "Plain pass" (you barely kept their attention)
"Pass +" (Better than the average Cecchetti freak)
"Pass ++" (This one is pretty rare. It means you did really good.)
"Pass Highly Commendable" (This means WOW.)

Because some of my dance buddies may be reading this, I can't post my earlier grades (studio rules). But they were very good. I'm hoping for the next step up.

Saturday and Sunday there was a Cecchetti Convention where teachers from all over the US came to teach. I didn't make Saturday for reasons I'll explain in a minute, but Sunday I went and it was great! I'm still sore. =D

So, Saturday I went to an army base with my Venturing Crew!! It was awesome. I got to be up close to the fastest jet fighter in the world, (Super Hornet!) with a pilot who had seen serious combat in both Iraq and Afganistan. It ROCKED. I also got to walk around inside and sit in the co-pilot's seat of a $32 million dollar 15 year old army cargo plane! It was awesome. Awesome. I can't explain. I also got to hold army weapons - pistol, shotgun, semi-automatic rifle, and machine gun. It was amazing! But I repeat.

I got pictures...on my phone. But my crew advisor took some with his camera, which I will try to get and post on here. But if I don't write for a while, know it's because I've run away and joined the Air Force as a Hornet pilot! JK. But really, he was trying to recruit me...it sounds pretty exciting...

Jess

P.S. Oh yeah - my brother has strep, so prayers are appreciated. The rest of my family and I have escaped it so far.

So Nnnnervous...

First off, it's my little brother's birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOSH! LOVE YOU!! He's turning three. Wow.

But that's not what I'm nervous about.

So, I have a BIG Cecchetti ballet exam today. I have to be there at 10:30am to warm up, and the exam starts at 11:45am and lasts for about an hour. I HAVE TO PASS!!! In oder to move from gade to grade, anyways, which is the plan. I'm taking it with three of my old dance buddies, that I've danced with since 2000. That is a comfort. It's also at my studio, so we kind of have "home field advantage". =D Anyways, I've never met these examiners, and it is a test after all!! so I'm preeeetty nervous. Very nervous. Forget- breakfast kind of nervous.

If you read this in the next couple of hours, prayer is appreciated. I'll update on our grades as soon as I can. I'm off to get ready!

10 Comments Until 400...

Monday morning:

"Yeah, Granny. Right. Well, okay, talk to you later."

Noon:

To mom: "Snow? Granny said it was going to snow! Bah."

8 hours later, walking out of Venturing crew meeting: "SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Yep, so us Texans got our first real snow that stuck in two years. At least in my area. Unfortunately, it only stuck for a few hours, so we were forced to go have a snowball fight and build a snowman at 10 o'clock at night. That was a first. Very fun. I snapped a few pictures...

Here we are, set to go play in the snow (some more)...in the dark! (Joshua is eating his hat for some reason...don't ask me why.)

Here is the beginning of our snowman...he looks rather sickly at this point...
(By the way, all these pictures were taken the next day.)

Our (tiny) snowman!! Isn't he cute?!

Hannah, Tiny, and Joshua, chilling out.

Out tiny snowman started to melt, so we started to add on. Notice his hair...very attractive, I think. His jaw line also improved.

Shortly after this photo was taken Tiny was ruthlessly knocked down by my sister, who wanted to have one last snowball fight for the day. Rest in peace, Tiny.

It was a fun and short-lived snow, but more is expected this weekend - possibly today. Monday it snowed, yesterday it was 70 degrees, and today it's hailing and 40 degrees, with possible snow expected.

That's Texas for ya.

La de da da, la de, ahhhhhh!!

I just lost my whole crazy post! Ahhh! I hate it when that happens. It was another long one, too.

Anyways, really all I need to do is update on my aunts and mom. My Aunt D. is the one with cancer, that my Aunt N. and Mom went to visit today. Unfortunately (to tell the truth, I'm suspicious!) my mom and Aunt N. missed their flight home, so my mom called me earlier and we talked briefly. She's exhausted, I can tell, but sounds happy. She said it was a good meeting with Aunt D. and that she's happy she went.

Anyways, gotta run. Update more later.
