A Science Type Toy We Love - K'Nex Creatures

My kids loved this Kid K'nex Creatures Kit from the moment they opened the package. The colorful fun shapes allow for a fantastic variety of creatures to be made.

The kit came with the basic blocks, fun eye pieces and cool shaped pieces that can be arms, legs or antennae.

While designed for younger kids, I have to tell you, my teens loved these blocks. My 16 year-old daughter and 14 year-old son had just as much fun making wacky creatures as the 11 and 7 year-old did! They even took pictures of their creations.

The Kid K'nex Creation Kit is a bit pricey - but like all the other K'nex products is well constructed and worth the extra investment for a quality educational toy.

Homemade Games Add Fun to Any Theme!

My family loves games of all kinds. We enjoy plaing card games such as UNO, Swap and Phase 10. Board games are another favorite. I bet it's the same way at your house.

But have you ever considered making your own games to go along with a schooling theme or to teach skills? Games are easy and fun to make. Paint sample cards from the local hardware store make great "spots" to move along. Anything can be game pieces - milk jug lids, beans, pennies or you can make those too!

I am including the links to a farm animal theme donimoe set I made for my daughter. You can print, laminate and play! This is a fun way to spice up a farm unit. Older kids can make these games to give to younger siblings.

Farmer Animal Dominoes

I hope you enjoy this as much as we will. I will be posting more game tips, ideas and ready to make games soon.

Have fun,
