<title>Brave New World??!!</title>
<description>I read that book in highschool. My teacher thought we all should. Thought we'd buy that...but it scared me.
Follow this link and read about our upcoming &quot;brave&quot; new world. Then pray! FOr wisdom and the opportunity to do something about it.
If we keep being apathetic, letting our families fall apart, raising 1.5 children, and working full time and overtime with ou children in daycare so we can have 2 or more cars, a big house and a boat...If we continue NOT caring...

<title>Update for Jen Ig &quot;)</title>
<description>I update my homestead blog, but not usually this one.
Apparently that is bugging certain people &quot;) he he. I like that.

I will mention that my family got to meet Bill and Diana Waring recently. They are pretty cool! I got the WWW book 3 Unit study for next year. I love the way she teaches and explains different learning styles, etc. They love the Lord so much and always emphasize the Biblical Worldview in teaching and learning.
Can you believe I will have 6 kids?? Three of them will be English as a Second Language (ESL). Yikes. Somebody help me!
Patience is 10 and just recognizing the alphabet letters and learning their sounds. Doug works on phonics with her, and I do handwriting, Draw Write Now books, read alouds (currently Beatrix Potter) and crafts, manners, and home type stuff. Doug does Bible and Character with us all when he's home.
I also get alot of help from Ruth Beechick books. Very common-sense, which is a relief to me. She's so very educated and yet maintains that the Bible is the plumbline- truth in every situation and that the best way to learn is the old-fashioned way. There's always something good from her in TOS. That's the first thing I look for in every issue, then of course it's Jen's articles.
Speaking of TOS- Gena was right, it will take a long time to get through this issue! It's totally packed! I found so much in there I will need a vacation to be able to read and digest it all. Very helpful and inspiring for us bedraggled end-of-the-year moms. Great job TOS!
If you don't subscribe to this magazine yet, you should! It's not just good reading, there's actually alot of material in there to use to teach. Draw Write Now pages, unit studies, health &amp;amp; nutrition, and the articles are from the cream or the crop in the homeschooling community- and that inclued the Show N Tell section where average families share their methods and lifestyles, stories, and pictures. Much more, too much to list! Like I said, the latest issue is absolutely packed.

<title>Bits O' News...</title>
<description>A family has stepped up to adopt Paye!
Yahoo!

and:
Our very dear friends, the coolest family we have ever met, called to let us know that they have decided to adopt from Liberia too They have 3 children, and she is the woman I want to be when I grow up. I wish they would adopt us! Happy, happy, for the child (ren) that get to come to their home!

What a great way to start 2007!

I also met a really interesting author at the bookstore today. He wrote a book that is a real faith- builder for the Bible. I'll post more on that when I read a bit more. He lives in our area, and has invited us to their Friday night home Biblestudy.

<title>A Boy Who Needs a Home</title>
<description>I have a special sweetie in Liberia. He writes me and I write him, but it's a heart ache to do so! He wants a home and family of his own, and time is running out for him. He will be 15 in February, leaving only one year for an adoption to be complete for him.

I'm posting one of his letters to me. Maybe he will touch the heart of one of you, and he will finally get a family. He says to me he hopes one day to hear he is being adopted, and that I have been the one to tell the family about him. I hope so too!

&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; November 30, 2006
Dear Mom
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Greeting come to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. How are you doing? I am doing great through the power off our Almighty. May God bless you mom!!!
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; I am now in the 9th grade class in school. My favorite subject is science and my favorite color is orange and yellow. My birth date is February 16 1992.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; During the war here in Liberia my parent was kill. After my parent was killed my uncle came and take me at the orphanage home because he was not having money to support my brothers and sisters along with his children too. He decide to take me on the mission and God have been taking care of me. God will continue His blessing upon me.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; miss you
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Paye

In another letter he talks about praying for a family to adopt him and to take him home. He is a handsome boy, and very well thought of by others.

If you would like information about adopting Paye, email me and I will give you the information to find out more.</description>

<title>Trauma &amp; Drama</title>
<description>
  The
title of this post contains two words that I do not deal well with. I
have had a terrible headache and queasy stomache all day. Lastnight
my 14 year old daughter and I had to stay in the barn with our
suffering old mare. We had to help the vet put her down in the end, and
the practical side of things is that a violent, agonzing death
happening to someone or something you love is traumatic. My poor
daughter had to help me with this, because we were home without Doug
here. I had told her to go on into the house, but she wanted
to stay so her horse didn't think she didn't care. It was a brave thing
to do, because it was a very harsh death. The mare colicked, twisted a
gut and got toxic. She was in terrible pain. The
night ended with the vet, a neighbor, and me, somehow hauling the poor
creature into a horse trailer to be driven away after she had died. I
still don't know how we did that, but my aching muscles remind me of
what undignified thing we did to her every move I make. I felt so sorry
for her loss of a dignified death. My
husband came home from his hunting trip as soon as he found out, and he
too, got his share of trauma and drama as he had to unload her corpse
by himself today. The whole thing makes us all just sick. It feels like a nightmare really. It must have been just as bad as I remember it, because the poor vet had flowers delivered to the&amp;nbsp; children and I. How
he remembered to do that with running similar calls all day and night
this week because of the bad weather is beyond me. He's a believer, and
perhaps hearing us girls praying for the Lord to give us the strength
we needed helped him do what he needed to as well. Tough day. New rule: No more old horses. That makes two this year. Painful.
