<title>Danielle De Barbarac &quot;Ever After&quot; work dress</title>
<description>Well the yearly costume party was a few weeks ago and there was much worry over what I would go as. I thought I would be a Disney princess, or maybe a cow. At last I thought I was set on being a woman from the French Revolutionary war. So I started the costume...2 days before the party, one of which I spent all day babysitting . Half way thru I changed my mind once again.I decided to go as Danielle from the movie Ever After, wearing her blue work dress. This was the happy result of one crazy nights work.

This is what the dress in the movie Looked like

This is more like what I wanted it to look like &quot;The Flower Picker&quot; by John William Waterhouse

I had a lot of fun wearing this costume! It was also really fun to age, I sanded parts of it and set part of the back on fire ( I only singed it ).

Be on the look out for more posts now that I have a computer with iPhoto.

Have a Loverly day

<title>The Jumper</title>
<description>If you are looking to make a nice MEDIEVAL dress and want a more simple look ( and simple to do), try The Jumper. There is also a great Pattern for this dress&amp;nbsp; McCalls 5499 CF .

Great for a&amp;nbsp; peasant or work dress but could also look nice as a Princess dress with the right fabric.

I find this dress Popping up in some big movies: To name some.

The Princess Bride: Buttercup

The Lord of the Rings: Eowyn

This Dress has some lacing on the side, gathering on the under dress, and a V necked over dress. All of which could easily be changed.

Brave heart: Murron

This Dress seems to have a shorter gap under the arm and is tied at the waist.

I plan on making this Dress some day...but who knows when.

Have a Loverly day

<title>1920-1930's Depression era  Day/work Dress</title>
<description>The Dress below was inspired by the outfit worn in the 1920-1930's
This first dress I made using Simplicity 3964

For this dress I used cotton fabric with a light plaid print giving it a more vintage look. The Sun Hat I Purchased at a vintage store for $2, and the jacket I had on hand.
&amp;nbsp;
This Second dress I purchased at a garage sale to 50 cents! I knew I would be posting&amp;nbsp; the above dress and thought I could post this as well.
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Thank you for reading!&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
Come back next week for my purchased Rivendell Style Dress!

<title>At long last</title>
<description>At long last photos of my Galadriel dress! Thank you for waiting! This project took me about 14 hours ( stop laughing I am a beginner =)) Goal: To do this right w/ out adults. Steeps: &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 1-Find a pattern(s) closest to the dress. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 2-Draw my idea of how the dress should look. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 3-Shop for all supplies needed. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 4-modify patterns to get the results I want. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 5-make the dress. &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 6-Compare results to Drawing. Price: Ready for this...$11.00! This dress was much much cheaper&amp;nbsp; $70 something I spent on my Narnia dress! Besides the sleves the whole dress was made out of our old drapes! I answered some questions in order to wrap up my thoughts of this project. What was the hardest part?: Getting the fitting right for sure! I bought a plus size not knowingly. What&amp;nbsp; problems did you have?: &amp;nbsp;Water stains on fabric, cutting wrong, buying a plus size. What would you do different next time?: Not buy a plus size. What was the best part?: Working together on a project with my good friend Lucy . I hope to get her Arwen costume on sometime also! *hint hint* Lucy. What was the easiest part?: The hems. What are some things that you learnd? Check the size of what ever pattern you use! Would you do this again?: Sure.&amp;nbsp; I had a lot of fun doing this! </description>

<title>Repeat costumes from Regency Movies</title>
<description>I am Very Sorry about not getting any pics of the Galadriel Dress up! I want to have a photo shot in the spring, the photos I have now are no good. But now that is is spring I should be posting them in a few days!

As for my post today. I am going to post something rather funny (to you costume fans at least). Repeat costumes from Regency Movies! My source is http://www.costumersguide.com/reused_regency.shtml
All the below is copied from costumers guide to movie costumes.

 &amp;nbsp;
Repet dress from the 1998 Sense &amp;amp; Sensibility (left), 1998's Vanity Fair (middle) and on Billie Piper in Mansfield Park (right)

&amp;nbsp;
The gray spencer jacket from the 1995 BBC Pride &amp;amp; Prejudice worn by Polly Maberly as Kitty Bennett (left two images), was seen on the 2007 ITV Persuasion, worn by Sally Hawkins as Anne Elliot (right image).

Comparing the images of Marianne and Maria Rushworth, they look identical. Maria Rushworth is on the right.

The checkered silk dress seen here was worn in the 1995 S&amp;amp;S by Emma Thompson , Mansfield Park (Fanny Price),

Check back for photos of my Regency Dress coming in June!

&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 1-Find a pattern(s) closest to the dress.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 2-Draw my idea of how the dress should look.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 3-Shop for all supplies needed.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 4-modify patterns to get the results I want.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 5-make the dress.
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; 6-Compare results to Drawing.

price: 72.00

Materals needed:
&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; &amp;nbsp;

Patterns
McCalls 5499.- for&amp;nbsp; modified bodice &amp;amp; Sleeves.

 &amp;nbsp; McCalls 4246- for under Skirt and over skirt.

My Gramma and I answered some questions in order to wrap up our thoughts of this project.

What was the hardest part?:
Getting the fitting right, and covering the buttons.I had to draw 58 flowers on by hand with a marker also which took 4 hours!

What&amp;nbsp; problems did you have?:
We ripped some fabric on the under skirt.

What would you do different next time?:
We would not do a zipper, instead we would not do the button holes on the back for the lace up.
All in all it was a good project, and it was fun to work together with different ideas bringing together the finished dress.

What was the best part?:
Working together on a project as we only see each other for 2 weeks once a year.

What was the easiest part?:
The hems.

What are some things that you learned from your Gramma?:
I learned what a tailors tack was, also what a bias was, how to cover buttons, how to gather, how to hem, and some other stuff.

Would you do this again?:
Yep, we just wouldn't make it any harder.
