Discussions with a Purpose - Homeschool Blogger

This is for Christian teens who are not interested in wasting their time, but are interested in meeting other like-minded christian teens and would like to participate in discussions that glorify the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. Although blogs are usually used for online journals, this blog will be used as somewhat of an online forum, where teens can leave their opinions about selected topics and help each other form opinions on certain subjects. Please feel free to leave your opinions of each post and pm me with any new topics that you think would give way to a godly discussion. Thank you for visiting and God bless.

Adoption

I hope everyone had a very merry christmas and if not my sympathy is with you. I have a new topic. Adoption. Lots of people talk about abortion but adoption is alot less talked about, but it isn't less important. Children die everyday because they didn't have a good enough home. I feel very strongly about this point. There are many aspects to it of course. Like foreign vs domestic adoption. Foster care vs just adoption. I think both are great, but people have there ideas on them. I hope to break those to down in the next couple of weeks. 1 jame27 says"Pure religion, undefiled before God the Father, is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. "
Job 22:9-10 says You have sent widows away empty,
And the strength of the fatherless was crushed. 10 Therefore snares are all around you,
      And sudden fear troubles you,
These verse lead me to believe that we should help them. I feel that if I am going to have a family and homeschool children then I couldn't do that without bring a orphan or fatherless child hope and if everyone felt the way I think we could save alot of those children. I don't mean to just bring them in your home and take care them but to love the and teach them about God as well as we would are own children. I understand that not everyone is meant to and some people are hindered because of aliments but if we all had the same knowledge about adoption I believe we could accomplish alot.

Thanksgiving

I thought it would be fun to see what you all think is the most important tradition when it comes to thanksgiving ? Also....
The proclamtion of thanksgiving by Abraham Lincoln
The year that is drawing towards its close, has been filled with the blessings of fruitful fields and healthful skies. To these bounties, which are so constantly enjoyed that we are prone to forget the source from which they come, others have been added, which are of so extraordinary a nature, that they cannot fail to penetrate and soften even the heart which is habitually insensible to the ever watchful providence of Almighty God. In the midst of a civil war of unequalled magnitude and severity, which has sometimes seemed to foreign States to invite and to provoke their aggression, peace has been preserved with all nations, order has been maintained, the laws have been respected and obeyed, and harmony has prevailed everywhere except in the theatre of military conflict; while that theatre has been greatly contracted by the advancing armies and navies of the Union. Needful diversions of wealth and of strength from the fields of peaceful industry to the national defence, have not arrested the plough, the shuttle, or the ship; the axe had enlarged the borders of our settlements, and the mines, as well of iron and coal as of the precious metals, have yielded even more abundantly than heretofore. Population has steadily increased, notwithstanding the waste that has been made in the camp, the siege and the battle-field; and the country, rejoicing in the consciousness of augmented strength and vigor, is permitted to expect continuance of years, with large increase of freedom.
No human counsel hath devised nor hath any mortal hand worked out these great things. They are the gracious gifts of the Most High God, who, while dealing with us in anger for our sins, hath nevertheless remembered mercy.
It has seemed to me fit and proper that they should be solemnly, reverently and gratefully acknowledged as with one heart and voice by the whole American people. I do therefore invite my fellow citizens in every part of the United States, and also those who are at sea and those who are sojourning in foreign lands, to set apart and observe the last Thursday of November next, as a day of Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens. And I recommend to them that while offering up the ascriptions justly due to Him for such singular deliverances and blessings, they do also, with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience, commend to his tender care all those who have become widows, orphans, mourners or sufferers in the lamentable civil strife in which we are unavoidably engaged, and fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility and Union.
In testimony whereof, I have hereunto set my hand, and caused the seal of the United States to be affixed.
Done at the city of Washington, this third day of October, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-three, and of the independence of the United States the eighty-eighth."
Proclamation of President Abraham Lincoln, 3 October 1863.[7]

Election results

So are election has come and past , It was a good fight. Unfortunately we lost and Barack obama is The elected president. This is sad new for America that once was so proudly established on free roots and by christian founders, Some people think we won't survive his 4 yr term, some think we will have a christian revival. Others think we are living in the end times. What do you guys on hsb think? Is America going to get worse. Does it scare any of you since we are the next generation? What can do to insprie a better world?
Prayers and blessings,

Women in the workplace

What do you guys think of women in the workplace. It seems that women in the workpalce think that stay at home moms are of lesser vaule when in fact raising children is a full time job just as working is. I have nothing against women who feel it is a calling to be in the workplace instead of raising a family, but when women try to do both It is the children that end up hanging in the balance. What do you guys think?
Wrapped in his love,
Rebecca

Thats right, it is that time of year againHSBA has many different categories--from best homeschool mom blog to teen awards to best super homeschooler and more! Its time to honor all the best homeschooling blogs. Right now, nominations are under way. For more information, and to nominate blogs go to the website at:

http://homeschoolblogawards.com/2008/10/2008-homeschool-blog-awards-nominations/

By the way, please don't think we are asking you to vote for us:-) We really aren't.
