A daily journal of our country life in the big city of Atlanta. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/KidLovinMommy/ en-us Homeschool Blogger Fri, 30 Dec 2005 14:09:00 -0600 Fri, 30 Dec 2005 14:09:00 -0600 Oh sisters, what a weird garden this has been!  I planted cabbage, brussels sprouts, and broccoli in the end of August.  I still have not reaped anything from this garden but have cabbages the size of soft balls, broccoli the size of a silver dollar and tiny sprouts.  David jokes that we may just get a very early spring crop!  It has been below freezing 22 days this December in the early morning.  I just knew we would lose it all but those little plants just keep chugging right along.  I just need them to hurry so that I can prepare my garden for the spring planting.  What a weird little garden I have! http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/KidLovinMommy/61631/ Fri, 30 Dec 2005 14:09:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/KidLovinMommy/61631/ Hey everyone!   I wanted to start a blog just so everyone can see how we live on our little homestead here in Atlanta.  When I say something about my chickens people always respond, "I thought you lived in Atlanta".  Well, we do.  Right smack dab in the middle of it.  We have a garden, chickens, dogs, cats, a lizard, a turtle, and many exotic birds.  The land that I live on used to be my grandfather's garden.  He kept his chicken house back here and grew all of his veggies.  His backyard head all of his ducks, turkeys, and pet chickens, hunting dogs, and even a bull at one time.  My grandmother gave us this property behind her house 3 years ago so we could live near her.  We enjoyed that for a year until she passed away.   I live on my little farm with my wonderful hubby David and three children, Elizabeth, Hannah, and Charlie.  We have homeschooled for 4 years and love it!  Right now, we are just taking it easy as we always take off the entire month of December.   We are Independent Fundamental Baptist and attend Berean Baptist in Ellenwood, GA.  Yes, we wear dresses full time and no, we do not cut our hair anymore (we used to but it is growing out now).   I am going to be adding some great recipes to this site as well as some bits of wisdom that I have learned over the years.  I hope you will enjoy this site as much as I will enjoy working on it.   Thanks for visiting and please stop by again!
