An Unique Amalgam of Rhythmic Dances - Homeschool Blogger

The shared part of our dance:
- An ambiguous set of schedules, mostly idealistic but realistically vague.
- Ever hopeful, always trying, learning in the everyday occurences.
- Ups and down, sharing and following our family's natural flow.
- Loving one another and ourselves as we strive to love the world at large.
- Our personal travels through the journey of life and the many lessons therein.

In other words....a day in the life.

Well today we were back at co-op!

And it was surprisingly exhausting. I hadn't really expected to be that worn out. Granted that was the most we had done since being sick, but wow I was tired.

It was a really, really nice day though. And Rhonda, if you ever read this, you crack me up! You're such an adorable, beautiful person. Your sense of humor is most excellent!

I'm presently trying to decide whether to talk myself into or out of baking bread. The weather's so beautiful the kiddos are all outside playing and I'm left to my own devices. I usually bake early when I bake, but there's probably still time for bread. We usually eat a bit on the late side anyway.

Tomorrow's to-do list looks pretty manageable. The kiddos are really enjoying the time4learning, so for now that's what we're going to do. I'm going to try to get back towards our unit studies as time permits. I really want to get into the kids' rooms tomorrow and fine-tune their picking up. They had a whole weeks worth of stuff tossed around and have done a decent job of cleaning it up. It will just go faster if I go in there and give it the final bit. My longer term project is going to be cleaning out the laundry room. UGH! That's where everything I haven't felt like unpacking has ended up and now it's a disaster of boxes and bags. ARGH! But sooner or later it will be done.

We just found out that our Aunt is selling her house so we need to get over there in the next couple of weeks and get the rest of our stuff. Where it's going to go in our house....I have absolutely no idea! Our little house already feels cluttered to me, which is rather my normal state of being. lol. But for as hard as I'm trying to be somewhat organized....it still feels full. Ah well, our house is on the smaller side.

Schoolwise....if anyone comes across this blog and has used any of the Teaching Textbooks curriculum, I would love to hear your opinion!

Have a great day ya'll!

Slightly-Less-Roasted Nuts....

Well,
We are on the downhill slide with the flu. I'm still sick, but Daddy and dd are feeling some better. Other dd and ds are both doing well. Hopefully in the next couple of days we'll all be past the slump and be happy little nuts once again.
I'm looking forward to getting back to schooling when we're all healthy again. I've already been looking over some interesting curriculum. We might be trying new stuff again next year. So far we have found a few definite dislikes in our Journey. Saxon math is not for us and SOS is definitely not for us. Both are wonderful tools, they just really fit us about as well as stuffing shoes on an ostrich. We had our ups and downs with SOS, and during the ups we loved it. But as time progressed there were just way more downs and that made for very unhappy nuts all around.
I've been looking into Teaching Textbooks for next year. It looks very interesting to me. And I think we'll continue with the unit studies for Social Studies and Science when I can get myself in gear again. They do seem to be working really well. The kiddos enjoy them and I do too when I'm not overwhelmed.
We're using www.time4learning.com right now for part of our schooling. I like it pretty well, although at times it does need a bit of supplement, especially in the Science and Social Studies categories for the younger kiddos. But overall, the children adore it. They absolutely love it and they do learn with it so we are all content. We use a very much so if it doesn't make us happy, we should be trying something different approach to schooling. And right now, this is what makes us all happy. They dig it, I'm comfortable with it so we're just gonna keep on keeping on for now.
Btw, does anyone know of any good field trips revolving around astronomy near East Tennessee?
Ya'll have a wonderful night! And keep safe from the nast flu bug :)
