DA BUZZ

Guess what my sis got for Christmas? A Great Dane puppy!!! His name is BUZZ. He's so cute and we all love him! He is deaf, and that takes some getting used to, but Lane's been working on training him to hand signals and he's getting good at it! Here's some pictures...

Check out those blue eyes!!!:D

Lane and Buzz

How cute!!!!

Oh, and listen to this funny conversation I had with 4 yo Mayf while in the kitchen recently...
Mayf: "What's this?"
Me: "Glass cleaner"
Mayf: "What does it say on it?"
Me: "Um, 'Glass Cleaner' "
Mayf: "Oh. To clean glass?"
Me: "Yep!"
Mayf: "Oh... Meg?"
Me: "Yeah?"
Mayf: "Can I clean some glass?"
Me: "Um... sure!" I raised a brow and showed him how to clean to sliding glass door.
After awhile Mayf came back. "All done!"
"Good job! Here, put the glass cleaner in this cabinet."
He did. Then said, "Meg?"
"Hmmm?"
"Can I get it back out and clean some more glass? The other side is still dirty."
"Well, sure!" I get it back out and give it back. After awhile he comes back. I say, "You done?"
Mayf: "Yup." He puts the bottle back in the cabinet.
Me: "Does it look good?"
Mayf: "Nope. The Glass Cleaner's got all gone before I was done."
Me: "Oh."
The birds twitter for about two minutes.
Mayf: "Meg?"
Me: "Yeah?"
Mayf: "Can I help you make cookies?"
Me: "Sure."

I made this picture of him recently... it totally matches his little personality! Han Solo all the way!!!:P

What on earth came over him?

My deep apologies to all for not being on more often!!! This Christmastime was SOOOOOOOOOO busy - yet so much fun!!!!! Yet surprisingly this is not what I am here to post about.

My character, Domevlo the Wizard, suffered a lot of neglect this season, what with me being a busy bee. He decided he needed a place to hang out with other characters and whine, cry, laugh, post parts of his story, and get advice from. So he went and made himself a blog!!!!! Yes I'm serious. He wants everyone's characters to come and join the blog so he can talk to them! I don't know WHAT came over him, but somehow I got volunteered for the upkeep of the blog. And here it is: www.homeschoolblogger.com/figments
On behalf of Domevlo - join up! PM me and I'll get your character in there to talk to Domev and everyone else's characters! Maybe we might get some fun out of this... even though no authors are allowed.

"Even I'm eatable. But that, dear children, is called 'cannabalism' and it is frowned upon in most societies."

Tagged by my best friend in real life, Poetic Maiden!!!!

The Author Tag
Do you have a pen/pencil collection? Yes indeed. In a Broncos cup. Beside my compy.

Do you prefer handwriting or typing furiously? Typing furiously is what does it for me

How often do you get inspiration? Ummm... that's really impossible to answer, because the times are so random. Sometimes everyday, sometimes weeks

Are you blogging this on a computer or laptop? Compy. My compy's name is Plaxico Burress

Do you get inspiration more in the early morning or late at night? NIGHT!!!!!!!

Do certain movies/books/music inspire you? LOTR. POTC. SW sometimes. Random books for no reason. HANS ZIMMER!!!!!!!!! All the time every time!!!!!!

How do you incorporate God into your stories? He sits beside me as I write and makes sure everything... smells like Him. He even has a spot on my bed to watch from! I don't usually do allegories, but I try to put Him into every word.

Do you kill off your villains or make them repent? REPENT????? VILLAINS????? Are you kidding???? Are you nuts????? Oh, and KILL the VILLAINS????? Are you kidding???? Are you nuts???? I only sometimes kill my villains (it's almost chliche I think) and I NEVER repentize them!!!!

Is the majority of your characters magical beings, humans or halflings? Or something else? Mostly humans. I tend to relate a lot to them. But I do have some pretty neat Wizards.

What genre of writing are you most comfortable in? If you were to step out of your comfort zone, what would you write? Fantasy is comfy as a fleecy couch. But if it was burned... modern fantasy. Doesn't count? Ok... Sci-Fi. Or Historical Fic, but probably not at all Historical Fic.

Do you work better alone or with someone else? I work alone generally.

Do your stories make sense, or do they ramble wildly? Sense? *dies laughing*

Are your characters mostly Renegades, Peacekeepers or a mish-mash? RENEGADES!!!!!!!! I luv em!!!!!

Are you a sucker for good grammar? Eh, couldn't care less.

How is your handwriting? I don't use it - I don't know
.
How evil are your villains? Depends. I have one book where he's a bad lot, and one where there really is no villain at all - it's good vs. good.

Are you long-winded or succinct? To the point. All the time.

Do you have typical "writer" traits such as inkstains on your fingers or a pencil behind your ear? Negative
.
Would someone walking past you on the street consider you normal? I... guess??? I've never really seen myself walking down the street, so I dunno.

Do you write mostly poetry, stories, novels or a mixture? Novels

Do your characters vary in accents, appearence and attitude or are they mostly the same? No accents really, appearance is quite different, as are attitudes.

Do real people and/or places inspire your writing? Forests. Any forest.

How many blogs/websites/internet haunts do you have? Here, my normal life blog, Read it Reviews, daily devos, EowynDernhelm shares Precious Gems with me, and... I know there's another one.

What is your favorite character? Or do you choose to remain unbiased in case of a revolt? Domevlo. Because my last favorite revolted:(

Do you talk to your characters? Do they talk back? Yes. And they talk back too much. One of the reasons I stopped writing my old favorite *shudder*

Are you more comfortable with girl or boy main characters? GUYZ

Do you follow basic overused plotlines with new twists thrown in or do you depart from the norm all the time? I dunno, I guess some of each.
Do you feel God has called you to be a writer/poet? Will you grasp "the power of the pen"? You bet!!!!!! As of right now, I grasp it!!!!

Thanksgiving Stuff!!!

Hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving Day!!!! We had a great time! In fact, because everyone is sooooooo interested (heheh:P) I'll break it down for you! AND add some cool pictures too!!!!!

First, the guys got up and made us amazing breakfast! Cheesey eggs, bisquits and gravy, waffles, turkey sausage and bacon, and all kinds of yummy stuff!!!! It was real good and the guys did great!!!

We watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Some of that was pretty fun - Arkansas had a marching band there and David Archuleta sang!

Then we got all the Christmas stuff out in the midst of a boring and annoying Detroit football game. We set up the tree...

and puppetized some nutcrackers:P...

Then Sticks decided to try and put the angel up top of the tree.
For the record, here's a math equation that all should memorize:
12 year old male + fully decorated Christmas tree + couch = not good thing
He knocked the tree over and came down with it.

It was funny until we had to clean up 4 broken glass balls. BUT, the tree stands as I type - Taggs are NOT to be defeated by a combination of destructive persons and greenery!!!:P Presently we all headed over to the cousins' house in Colorado Springs!!! Aunty Mich made AWESOME food like this:

YUM! It was so yum! And guess what? My aunt doesn't cook! But now she is a pro turkeyer!!!!:D
Some of us had some fun on the trampoline...

(This is a totally cool pic or the totally cool cuz Potato doing a totally cool flip)

and some of us watched the stinkin Dallas game and played Madden.

(Dad and Mace. Dad won! Hahahahahaha!)

Here's the entire Thanksgiving gang! A weensey smaller than usual... it's minus Grandma and Grandpa (in FL), Unc Steve (in TX), and the Post gang (somewhere... not in CS:P)
All in all, it was one of the funnest Thanksgivings we've ever had! Hope everyone else had a great day (like us), had a lot to be thankful for (like us), had a lot of great food (like us), and that at least someone was happy with the outcome of the football games (not like us):P
"He who sacrifices thank offerings honors me, and he prepares the way so that I may show him the salvation of God." ~ Psalm 50:23
PS 4 future note: If you ever tag me and for some reason I do not do that tag, it is not because I don't like you or don't care about being tagged - I like being tagged! Just sometimes I don't have time to do them all the time

A Random Part of my NaNoWriMo story that I felt like posting

Ladies and gents, I am officially NOT going to get 50,000 words this month. It is a sad realization, but I am just too busy this month, I haven't been feeling too good, and it's not going to happen. But, it has been fun trying and no matter how many words I get, I can still enjoy them and be glad that I did them. Can I do it? No. I cannot. But I will meet it in battle nonetheless. I'm still going at it, I just know my own abilities:)

BUT I am having fun with my story! Here's a random part I post here, don't take my stuff without my permission, blahblahblah.

Hey, here's the link to my totally cool playlist: http://view.playlist.com/11080693771/standalone
It's quite neat, listen to "Waters of Irrawaddy" (close to the middle) while Domev's in the forest, then the next one, "The Gravel Road" when he finds the tree with the name!

When there was nothing left to see of Sephas, Domevlo sat with his back against a large tree. Surely, surely his power could be used for good, and not evil. But what was he to do with his power anyway? He had been sitting so still that a rabbit jumped out in front of him. Domevlo decided this would be a good time to test his Magic. He willed the rabbit to come to him, and reached out an inviting hand. The rabbit continued to sniff around in the dry leaves. Domevlo took a deep breath and reached deep inside himself. He tried to feel the magic within him, and then reach out to the rabbit. The animal did not come – it was lifted off the ground, then sent scampering into the forest, more frightened than it had ever been in its life. Domev sighed and leaned back against the tree, running a hand through his dark, tangly hair. It suddenly occurred to him that he would need shelter if he were to stay here; and he got up and walked deeper into the forest, exploring his surroundings. The forest was not as he had always imagined it – tangly, dense, thorny, and thick with pests and poisonous plants. There were various paths and trails leading into separate parts of the wood where the trees and vines stayed away. The colored leaves blanketed the ground lovingly, and they made soft comforting crunching sounds as he walked through them. The fading afternoon light shone through the trees, and the small sound of the creeks filled the silence. Domevlo wondered why he had ever thought this place was ugly – then wondered why he should have thought it otherwise. He stopped walking. No one – not even Sephas – had ever been this deep into the forest before. What were the paths doing here? He knelt to his knees, cleared the leaves away and looked at the dirt. Yes, it had clearly been made on purpose, but unmistakably long ago.
A bird suddenly flew through the bushes, sounding loud in the quiet and startling Domevlo. He looked toward the sound at a large, ancient oak tree with vines tangling around it. There appeared to be some sort of marking on the tree, and Domev stood to his feet and walked slowly closer. He pulled the reluctant vines away from the tree, and saw that indeed, someone had scratched a name into its wood. After pulling more leaves away and rubbing at the bark a bit, he could make out the word, Jaya. There was more, but it had faded and he could not read it. But suddenly he felt… sad. He did not know why. There was sorrow in this word – this name. He ran a finger over the letters. There had to be some way to find out what the rest of this writing said. Maybe he would come back after he had learned more of his powers. He had to move on a build a shelter.

Domev had not wandered far before he stubbed his toe on something hidden in the leaves. Frowning, he knelt down and brushed the leaves aside. There was something partially buried there… it looked like an old shovel or something – mostly decayed. Overcome by a sense of curiosity just being in this place, he used his hands to dig at the moist dirt scratching it away to reveal the hilt of a sword. It was at least a century old, Domevlo was sure. He scooped at the soil, exposing not just a hilt, but a whole sheathed blade – very old, and very fragile. He very carefully, so as not to make the sheath crumble, placed a hand on the hilt and drew the sword. It was rusty and cracked, but there was some sort of writing on it. Domevlo brushed and scratched at the rust and dirt until he could see the word, “Tentalestah”.

The word made his heart beat faster, for just a moment. He had to say it aloud. “Tentalestah.”
The sun shined brighter at the sound of his voice, and a gusty wind began to blow. The sword began to tremble, and Domevlo dropped it as if his hands were burnt. There was something very strange about this place. When Domev looked back at the sword, he gasped. The rust began to disappear, and the blade glowed more brightly than any sword he had ever seen. But that was not what astonished him most. The nearest tree to the sword wrapped its roots around the blade and held it out to Domevlo. It was several minutes before he reached forward to take it, and when he did, the tree lowered its roots back into the ground. There was no doubt about it now – this forest was alive. Domevlo did not know why he was not frightened. He gazed at the sword in his hands – long, sleek, elegant, and shining as if it was brand new. He turned it over and studied the writing on it. There were small engravings all over the handle, but Domev did not know what they meant. When he got to the guard of the sword he saw a word he recognized quite well… “Domevlo”.
His mouth opened in awe. What could this mean? He looked up at the forest. It sat silently in calm assurance. It knew! It knew what this sword was! Domevlo was certain! “What is this?” He shouted into the silence. “What is going on? Who was here that left this sword? Why am I here?”
There was no answer. Domevlo felt another tear run down his cheek. Who had been there? The sword, Tentalestah, continued to shine in his hands. It seemed to invite him into his unknown destiny – or more accurately, force him into his unknown destiny. Domev’s eyes narrowed. What this sword had to offer - this destiny - he was not sure he wanted to have in his life. He threw the sword back at the tree and ran on further into the forest, putting as much distance between himself and Tentalestah as he could. When he dared look back, the tree was again hiding the sword in its rooty clutches.

So there's the junkityjunk. I am having fun TRYING NaNo. But it ain't gonna happen. Not this year anyway.

When Taggs and Soccer Studs come together... this is how it's done.

First, background for those who have never been to an MLS game (that's soccer:0). When the players walk onto the field, they are holding the hands of these cute little kids that are wearing the home team's jersey. Ok?
So a couple weeks ago I hear that J-dude and Jess are invited to lead the Colorado Rapids onto the field in the playoff-spot-deciding game against Real Salt Lake. I was pretty excited, but J-dude was exciteder. When he first heard, he squeezed me real tight while SCREAMING quite loud, then plunked down on my lap and told me to find some cool Rapids videos to watch. The time finally comes... and excitement is in the air.

We show up early at the stadium where we meet up with the boys' extremely hyped teams. (BTW, their seasons just ended quite successfully) So we wait for a long time, then the boys are whisked away with my photographer dad who gets to be on the field and take pictures. Sticks and I get our free soccer balls (COOOOOL) and go to our special seats - in the bleachers behind the goal. But that's not cool until I say that the locker rooms for the teams are right off that part of the stadium and you get to stand there and high-five all the players as they come on and off. REALLY cool that we were early and KYLE BECKERMAN had nobody to high-five except us. And yes I did say KYLE BECKERMAN. But I'll say it again: KYLE BECKERMAN!!!!!!!! Dreadlocks himself!!!!! And yes he high-fived us cuz we screamed that he rocked as he walked by. The rest of Real Salt Lake pretty much high-fived us too, and that was awesome. Chris Wingert comes out and I whoop and hold out my hand, but he was already walking on the other side of the hall, so he just smiled and gave me a little wave. But I pouted and said, "Aw come on!" And... I suppose since I was so cute(:P) and all by my onesie he walked all the over to where I was to give me some skin. How sweeeeeet:P

But now warm-ups were over and I knew my boys would be coming out with them soccer players. Here's what they had been doing in the locker room, courtesy of my dad:

The cutest nutcases you'll ever see!!!

Yup, that's Kyle the BeckerMAN. He's too cool. In this one he's hittin Jess's hand in the light blue.
Then they come onto the field holding a Real Salt Lake player's hand!!!! I got video, but it's not here. But J-dude was holding Nat Borchers's hand (Denfender) and I'm not sure who Jess got. I was kinda bummed that they didn't get a player they knew on the Rapids, but it was ok. Here they were, courtesy of my dad, who had the wrong camera lens - hence the farawayness:

YAY!!!!

YAY some more!!!

Our National Anthem, which I was too busy getting in my seat and being excited to pay any attention to...:P
THEN...

They ran off. But the fun had literally just begun - the GAME was starting!!!! The only thing was that Christian Gomez didn't play, and he's my fave on the the Rapids. But it was ok. We were winning 1 to nuthin at the half, and I - heheh - wanted the Rapids to win, but I knew Real Salt Lake was awesome too. Sticks and I rushed to our spot to high-five players as they came back out. Snagged more Real Salt Lake guys. But the RAPIDS came out next!!!!!!! And even better... slowly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tom McManus (yes the man himself) high-fives screaming girls with vigor. Terry Cooke and Colin Clark didn't even look at the twenty people yelling and holding out desperate hands:( But that was ok... cuz in everyone's disappointment, I looked up and saw coming down the steps... "GOMEZ!!!!!!!!!!" Yeah I hollered real good, and everybody else started up too. Christian Gomez kinda walked slow and didn't look at us a whole lot, leaning toward the far side where we couldn't reach him. But we yelled all the louder, and he smiled, shrugged and ran down the line again, high-fiving everybody. THAT was the coolest thing, cuz he rocks even more than Beckerman!!!! Ok, maybe not. Well - yeah he does!!!... Alright, it's a tie... no, I dunno... point is: they are both amazing and my hand was dripping with muy famousa soccer-player germs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was soooooooooooooo much fun!!!!!!!!
Hate to spoil things now... but the game ended at a tie and the Rapids needed a win to go to the playoffs, and... their season is done:( BUT that's ok!!!!! Because we had a big blast at the game, and got pictures, and free stuff, the boys got to keep their awesome light blue jerseys, and Sticks and I got to high-five awesome soccer guys. I bet God had fun watching us have all that fun - he tends to do that:)
Peace out!!!:D
