Well Today We Start Back to School !!!

It was a fun and busy break that we had from the books but it is timeto get back. I am ready for our day to have a schedule again. We were only off for about 5-6 weeks but that is long for us. We should have started back two weeks ago. I hope this is not a sign of what is to come for the whole year, lol...

I have one daughter starting 6th gr and one duaghter starting 10th. We aren't changing up too much as far as what we are using this year but there will be a few different things. I hope to spend more time with my younger one learning more "off the beaten path" so to speak.

I have listed our text books and/or programs on my side bar. Let me know if you would like to know more about anything that I am using. This will be our 12 yr to homeschool and I only have 6 more to go !! I can't beleive that we have been at it for this long. But I must admit, I do "day-dream" about what I will be doing with my days once I am finished. I love this time with my girls but to be honest, I have a project list a mile long that I am dying to get to, lol....

Well, I don't have much longer before I have to get the girls started for the day. I hope everyone has a great day out there.

Getting Things back in Order.....

Well ladies, I have set my sights on getting back to normal around here and that means it is time to get back to school !!
I have been working on our planners and getting lesson plans in order and waiting for the last few books to come in. We are changing a few things up for some things but not everything. Sometimes you just need a change to keep things interesting, you know?
I am hoping to post more this school year and keeping everyone up to date on what is going on. Not just with my family but also with TOS !! There is some exciting things in the future for everyone and TOS is the one to bring it to you.
So while you are here, take a look at my side bar for the girls subjects/text books and let me know if you want to know about any of them. I will also be posting as we go with some of the new ones we are using.
Back to the schedule making and working for the magazine (TOS). Stay tuned for more news items as they come available, lol.....

Happy Valentines Day and Prayers Needed.....

HAPPY VALENTINES DAY TO ALL !!!!

Ladies,

I hope you all have a wonderful week-end at your homes with your family.

I would like to ask for your prayers for my mother, who needs to gain her strength back to stand up on her legs.

I also would like to ask for prayers for a young boy at my church. His name is Jeremiah, he is 11 and he is very sick.

His parents thought that he might have the flu after running a high fever for a couple of days and complaining of body aches.

They took him to the ER Thursday night only to find out he does not have the flu, he has luekemia !! With out any warning at all till the fever and body aches which is actually pain in his bones.

The ER at the children's hospital sent him right away to St Jude Children's Hospital here in Memphis for cancer treatment. They even started chemo on him before they were finished with testing to see which type he has and at what stage. It is really bad.

Needless to say, his parents are walking around in shock. My pastor is trying to help them but he (my pastor) has now come down very sick.

So, as see this morning, I could use some prayers for us here. And I want to thank you ahead of time for them.

Do you Believe in God ?....Do you Trust God?.............

Today is a day that is making history, No matter what any one says or does not say.........It is making history.

I have pretty much kept quiet about what is going on in Washington DC since the elections. I know which way I voted and I know (as everyone else does) what the outcome was. But today is happening no matter what. It is what it is suppose to be.

Do you trust God? Do you really trust God? Do you know down deep in your soul that God is in control? In control of all things. .........Do you believe that God created everything..........every living being......everything that breaths........everything that has life?

Do you believe that God created the heavens and the earth? And all that is ?..........

Do you trust God with your soul........your life............? Do you trust God with your children.......with your family?..........Do you trust God with your finances?..........do you trust God to provide everything that you and your family will ever need?.............do you trust God with your life?..............................

Okay, if you made it this far and you are still reading my post here, .........thank you. Now one more question.......

What are you doing today? Are you going to be watching the TV and see history being made? Are you getting your children excited about what is happening today and making this part of their school day?.....Are you ready to embrace today and be a part of it?

God is in control. God is a loving God and only wants the best for His people.

What lessons are you teaching your children today? What example are you setting for your children today? Will they see you trusting God? Or will they see you angry and mad?

Will they see you trusting God, moving on and knowing that all is what it is suppose to be today?

One more thought about God: Do you really think that this caught God by surprise? Do you really think that God did not see this coming? Do you really think that this is bigger then God?

So today..........we are getting a new president. And yes.....besides the regular happenings that go along with it........we are making history..........As for me, I want my children to see this, experience it and remember it..........After all........it is their future that is at stake here......not just here on earth.......but the trust in God..........

This is my view on today and I don't mind comments. I just ask that you keep it nice or please don't comment at all.

We did start back to school this week......

But it is going slower then I planned. We have not started our new books that I posted about but we are getting back into some. We had a few appointments this week that has kept us a bit busy. So I thought we would at least start back in out Math, Science and others for now.

So next week, I hope to post on our start on the new items. I am really looking forward to getting into them. I hope that the girls are too.

Have a good day at your place.

Starting Back here for 2009......

Ladies, I have been here, homeschooling my daughters, but just not taking time to post about our days doing so. I hope to get back to posting and sharing what we are doing in our daily lives as we go through this journey in our lives.

To start with I am changing up a couple of things that we will be using this semester. For Rebekah (5th), I am just not happy with her spelling and writing skills. I have looked at many things to try, but I always come back to the same one. The Phonics Road to Spelling and Reading. She is doing quite well in the reading but just can't see, to make the connection with the spelling. I do not want to move ahead any further till we are happy with her spelling. Her hand writing could use some help also. She knows how to write, it is just taking the time to write neatly. So this will also help with that. She is doing great with grammar but since we are using this program, it will also cover grammar.

I plan on posting on how I like the program and how she is improving in each area. It is a bit of a cost for the program, but if you get to the point that I got, you will be willing to spend a little more to help your child out, right? That is why I want to post about this program. I want to be able to help someone else who may be looking for that "extra" they need in these areas and be able to know if it is worth the cost.

Now with my older one Sarah, we are changing over to Notgrass, Exploring America ! We were doing fine with the Abeka texts but my heart really wanted to do this program. I was able to purchase it over the school break and so we will be starting with it this next week. This program will cover English, American History and Bible. The student will receive 1 credit for each subject as long as you follow the program. That is what we are doing. We are very excited to get started on this.

I will be back next week to let you know how we are doing with these new changes. If you are making a change this next semester, let us know. Share with us what is working and what is not.
