A pencil and paper, a song and a voice. - Homeschool Blogger

Welcome to my blog! I am a eleven year old Jewish homeschooled girl, and I have one dog and three cats. I'm not a big fan of sports, but I love volenteering at Caring for Creatures and swimming in our lake. I have to great sisters, an awsome mom, and a wonderful dad! We live in the beautiful state of Virginia, and I like playing the piano. I'm in sixth grade, and I love writing books. Whoops, this is longer then I thought it would be, so, TTYL!!!!

Hey everyone! I'm in California now! We got home really late on Wednesday; by the time we got to sleep it was midnight California time, and three o clock Virginia time! Yesterday, we went to my cousin Allie's concert, and then we had dinner at Mimi's. Nana and Papa's new cat, Tux, is really sweet, but really shy. He's starting to warm up to me, and I'm hoping to be friends with him before we leave.
Today we will go to the Library, and then my aunt and uncle and cousins are coming over to trim the tree. I haven't done that since I was four, so it should be fun!

Time to go,

TTYL!!!!!

California, here I come!

If you would like a template, please see my blogs on my profile. Posted in: California, here I come... Hey! We leave for Richmond in about half an hour. We're going to the airport there, and then on a flight to California!!!!!! Last night we gave everyone Hannukah presents. I gave Rebekah bookmarks (that I made myself), Sarah exclusive cupons (that I made myself-ask her what they are for), Daddy a remote control holder (that I made myself), and Mom I gave a shirt for her bear Edward (which...I made myself!). Sarah gave me a necklace/bracelet/anklet, and daddy gave me a PVCC baseball cap, and a some ear phones for my MP3 player. Mom (known for collecting lots of gifts throughout the year and giving a LOT) got me a Snuggie (which came with a reading light), a Cats Of The World book, a Tinkerbelle water bottle, purple gloves, and I think that's about it! Yesterday, daddy got us Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, and Night at the Mueseum-Battle of the Smithsonian. There's also something that I might be going to...but in case I'm not, I won't tell you yet. I will tell you in January. In case I'm not on very often in California, have a Happy Hannukah, Mery Christmas, and a Happy New Year!!!! TTYL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rachel P.S. Celina, I'm sorry we couldn't talk on the phone on Saturday!! I might be able to talk to you in California, but I'm not sure. Say hello to your kitties for me!!! -Rach

I can't talk long, but I wanted to tell you about the party yesterday. It went pretty well, although two of my friends couldn't come and about eight other people. It was still fun. We have lots of food leftover!
We'll be figuring what we want to pack today, packing tomorrow, and leaving on Wednesday! We'll be leaving in the afternoon, so I'll have time to post an entry before we leave!

Hey y'all! This Wednesday we (Mom, Rebekah & I) are leaving for California! For three weeks! We're going to my grandparents house for the holidays, only now its more like a family reunion! Practically everyone from my mom's side of the family is going to be at Nana and Papa's.
Happy Hannukah everyone! For those of you who didn't know, Hannukah began at sundown yesterday. We lit the Hannukiah, and opened up gramma, great gramma, and daddy's gifts. From Gramma I got Inkheart (something to read on the plane-I've been dying for my own copy) and the Tales of the Frog Princess-an awsome fairy-tale for older kids. Now I don't have to use the library's! From Great-Gramma I got a check, which I will use when I go to Paris and Israel next year (Exactly a year from now!). From Daddy I got a beautiful necklace, and Chai (is that how you spell it, daddy?) That looks like this:
(mine isn't quite so fancy; its just plain gold, but I love it!)
Then we lit the Shabbat candles, and had dinner! Mom and Rebekah went to ballet, so daddy and I read Percy Jackson (We do this thing every friday night-Rebekah reads Harry Potter to him and I read Percy Jackson). Then I read by myself for a little while, Mom and Rebekah came home, and I went to bed.

This morning we went to Synogogue extra early, because we were picking up a friend of ours, Miz Bolsky. After services, we came home and dressed into casual clothes, and watched 24!

            GTG,

So, sorry for not posting earlier. Friday night services went pretty well-although Talia and I were the only girls there! I stayed up pretty late after that, so I didn't go to Saturday Morning services on Saturday. I slept in much later then I normally do, but was very pleased when I woke up and found snow! The flakes were huge, so it didn't stick, even though it snowed until nightfall.
Sunday I went to Sunday School, and we learned about the Jews in Shtettles and the story of the Golem. Then we went to the CBI kitchen and made latkes!! From scratch!!! We didn't even use a mix, just chopped up the potatoes ourselves. They were delicious!
There's a thing at CBI called BITY-Beth Israel Temple Youth. My grade can be part of Junior BITY, but I haven't done anything with them yet. This Sunday they did Ice Skating, and my friend Shoshana who was going with them asked me if I could go with her, since she would be the only sixth grader there (nearly everyone was out of town). I asked Mom if I could go, and she gave me some money so I could rent skates.
It was really fun, although I hung onto the wall for the first half because I haven't skated in 3 years. But then I got the hang of it and was gliding quickly over the ice!
Afterwards we went to the toy store (the skating rink was in the downtown mall, so we could walk to anf from CBI) and looked around, and then we went to CBI. Mom and Dad picked me up, and went to Sam's Club to get some stuff for next week.
Then we came home, and I emptied out the cat boxes and we all got some pizza, and we watched "Elf".

Tonight my Hebrew School class is leading the Friday Night service at the synogogue, so that should be fun. None of us wanted to lead anything by ourselves, so the whole class is doing a couple prayers, and Talia and I are doing two prayers.
Hannukah begins one week from today!!!! YAY!!! We're going to have a Hannukah Party on the thirteenth. The last time we had a Hanukkah party was...about four years ago.
Its supposed to snow here tomorrow, so cross your fingers for me!!!!

Edited Pics I Thought You Might Like

If you would like a template, please see my blogs on my profile.

Here are some pictures that I decorated myself. Not much, but enough. Enjoy!
Here's one I made of us in Disney World last December

I made this one after I got the new warriors book, Omens Of The Stars (aka OOTS)! Didn't I tell you I got it? Oh, well here is what I looked like and was thinking after I opened up the box!

We took this picturer before we ate Thanksgiving dinner. I thought you might like it.

Here's a really cute one;

Last one. I made this a year ago, and I can't remember if I posted it or not. It's a picture of Sarah and Spencer (her bff) making a video and dancing to "Dancing Through Life" from Wicked.

Like it?
