Long time~No write

Boy! I've really negletected this thing =( I'm sorry guys. It's been a BUSY year! Oh and I had jaw surgery over Christmas, that was... interesting =) You can read more on that on my regular blog: Jo.
Well I've decided that I am no longer taking template codes, I'm so far behind on putting everybody's templates up and such and haven't logged in a lot. I am NOT quitting this blog (quitting is for quiters anyway) however, just postponing taking any templates until such a time when I don't have so much stuff (mostly school) to do. And in the in-between times when I do have some time off from school I'd really like to get some template making tutorials up. Hope y'all are doing well! (and not way too mad at me ;)

Since my grandpa is in town until next Wednesday I will put off the contest until July 7, unless I notify you guys otherwise. Hey, and since it's going to be July 4, if any of you think about it you could donate an American flag themed template and I will make it an American themed contest. I'll need at least two templates though for it to work (I've got one I've made.)
I'm sorry that I'm not replying to comments/PM's, it's busy with grandpa here.
And, Cornflower, I haven't made your award yet, sorry! I will try to finish that soon when I have time! Hope you don't mind!

Template of the Week Rules

What happens in this contest? In this contest several templates compete to become the Template of the Week. This means that your template gets free publicity, you will get HTML advice from others and bragging rights and a banner if you win. Winners of the Template of the Week will be entered into the Template of the Month contest.
How do I enter? Every template that is submitted to Recycled Templates will automatically be considered, you do not have to send them in. I will choose several templates that I think will do well together and enter them in the contest. I will PM you if I choose to enter your template.
What is Recycled Templates? Recycled Templates is a website where you contribute old templates that you won't use anymore and 'recycle' them for other people to use.
How do I vote? You can either PM or comment me your vote. PMing is advised it you have friends in the contest, that way nobody's feelings are hurt. No anonymous comments will be counted. If you are going to comment your vote please comment on the template you are voting for (template of the week 1-2-3) NOT on my RecycledTemplates blog! And... let's say you are PMing me, please tell me the TITLE of the template for instance: template of the week 1-2-3 OR Cool Template by HTMLpro1 (example) instead of 'that cool template by what's-their-face. lol
Is it okay if I tell the contestants what I think of the templates in a comment? That is perfectly fine, as long as you are nice and don't JUST tell them the things that could be changed, tell them what you like also.
May I tell others about this contest? Yes! You may post this post on your blog to let people know. Please do not just tell your friends to go vote for you. You might have more friends that vote for you then other contestants do.
What sportsmanship do you require? I ask that if you win, please don't put anybody else down. I would like it (but it isn't required) if you went to the other contestants blogs and congratulate them if they win or tell them that it was a good try if they lost.
If I were entered into this contest can I vote for myself? No. You may however vote for somebody else who is participating.
Will I be entered multiple times? You could be. Right now there's only a few templates that have been contributed to Recycled Templates. Every time you contribute a template you increase your odds of being entered. At some point in time I will have entered everybody who has contributed.
What if I don't want to contribute something to Recycled Templates, could I still enter? At the moment I am only entering templates that have been contributed to Recycled Templates. My reason for this is: I don't know how many (or few) templates I'll have flooding in and I don't want to forget which ones are for Recycled Templates and which ones are for the Template of the Week contest. This will make it easier on me, but I might change this after a few weeks. My other reason for doing this is so that your template will be recognized as a good quality one and more people will use it one their blogs.
Let's say I have contributed several templates to Recycled Templates but there is a certain one I would like entered in the contest. Can I ask you to enter it? Yes! I'm not saying I'll do it right away but at least I know you would like it to be entered.
How often will this contest be held? Every Tuesday voting will end for the past three templates and the winner will be announced. At this time three new templates will be entered. Every three weeks the past winners of said three weeks will be entered into a Template of the Month contest. I may stop this contest in the fall because I will be starting school again and I have no idea how busy I will be. If I do quit in the fall I will start again next summer.
Is there anything else you would like me to know? Please remember that this is a HTML contest, not a popularity one. Please don't vote for someone just because you know them. Please be on your honor system at all times and please remember to have FUN!!!

The Beggining of the Contest

Thank you guys so much for the input!
#1 Comment/PMing/Polls
Most of ya'll agreed that commenting or pming would be best, and the people who suggested polls thought that everybody should be on their honor system. I personally think that commenting and pming will be best but I still would like everyone to be on their honor system! PMing is advised if you have friends in the contest and no anonymous comment votes will be counted. I just don't want to spend a lot of time looking up IP codes =)
#2 Who should vote?
Well, a lot of you said that anybody should vote, not just my friends. I think this is a good idea. Brittany of brittanystemplates had a great idea, why don't I write a post announcing my new contest and then people can post it on their blogs. That way when telling people you don't say to them 'go over to RecycledTemplates and vote for me.'
#3 Should the contestants be allowed to vote.
Almost everyone seemed to think the the contestants could vote for another person but not themselves. I agree.
If you think I should change this please let me know.
So here are the new and improved rules:
~~~~~~~
Recycled Templates (http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/RecycledTemplates/) is hosting a Template of the Week contest. Below is a description and the rules!
What happens in this contest? In this contest several templates compete to become the Template of the Week. This means that your template gets free publicity, you will get HTML advice from others and bragging rights and a banner if you win. Winners of the Template of the Week will be entered into the Template of the Month contest.
~~~~~~~~
You can post the above on your blog to get the word out if you would like.
Here is what the award will look like. You will have to upload your award to your HSB account or whatever other photo account you have, I do hope that will be okay! I will try to center the text on the next one. And of course, if this were for a guy I'd make it blue.

The contest will begin next Tuesday (June 10) unless something happens. If I enter your template in the contest I will PM you. Please let me know if you do NOT want your template entered.
Comment me with any questions or anything!
NOTE: I will be entering my own templates too =) Not every week but occasionally. Mostly because at least half of the templates were created by me. Everyone will be entered eventually.

Template of the Week

****Beware, this is a sort of long post with lots of questions. I'd suggest scrolling down and hitting 'Post Comment' then 'Preview Comment' so that you can write down you're answers as you go.****
Okay, I am making a Template of the Week contest. Please read the rules below and then answer my questions
How this works: Pretty much if you send me a template to donate to RecycledTemplates it will automatically be considered. If I think it would do well I will enter it into the Template of the Week contest (please private message me if you DO NOT want to be entered.) There will be 2-3 other templates also competing and whoever wins will be allowed to compete in Template of the Month. What does this mean for you? Pretty much your template gets free publicity (even if it doesn't win), you will get a banner to put on your sidebar and bragging rights (not to much though!), and possibly advice on what others think you could do better- therefore making you better at html.
You aren't allowed to ask others to go vote for your template, it would be unfair because you might have more friends that vote then other people.
You are allowed to give advice on what you think could be made better on the template but please do it in a nice way!
I don't want to hear about any unsportsmanship. If I get any reports of somebody leaving mean comments because their template was better or something I will ban that person from competing again (this won't be taken lightly though, I will have to see the comment and proof it's from the person the accuser says it's from.) In fact I think it would be awesome if the Template of the Week/Month participants would go and comment the others who are participating and say something nice about their template, congratulate them if they win or tell them you're sure they'll do better next time. Please remember, this isn't supposed to be a big deal! If it becomes a big deal (like people complaining that they didn't win or trying to cheat) I will stop this competition.
And most of all, please remember to have fun!
*****
So here are my questions and they're mostly about the voting system.
Question #1. The dilemma is whether to use a poll, comments or private messages to vote, I will put the positive and negative of both.
POLL
POSITIVE: Frankly, this would make it really easy for me to see who has won and it might be easier for you guys to vote. It's anonymous so if two of your friends are entered nobody feels bad about who votes for who. And you will be able to see if you are ahead or not.
NEGATIVE: It is possible to cheat on these. And in knowing who is ahead you might be tempted to cheat if you are behind.
COMMENTING
POSITIVE: It is MUCH harder to cheat this way especially since anonymous comments will not be counted.
NEGATIVE: Since anonymous comments will not be counted you will have to log in. Logging in isn't a problem but if all three participants are your friends somebody's feelings might end up hurt because you didn't vote for them (although true friend's would know your vote was based on the template, not whether you were better friends with someone else) And really, this IS about the template, not popularity.
Or maybe anonymous comments should be counted only if I recognize the IP code...
PRIVATE MESSAGING
POSITIVE: It is all anonymous and nobody will know who voted for you therefore no hurt feelings!
NEGATIVE: Yeah, well after hearing all my talk about fairness you'll probably think 'No way!' at these next words but I have to say them (in order to be fair =P) I could cheat. I might decide that HTMLpro1 should win instead of HTMLpro2 and nobody would know. I know that I WILL be fair, but this is about what you guys think is fair.
And if it comes down to it, we could do commenting and private messaging together whichever feels more comfortable to whoever.
Question #2. Do remember that part in the 'How This Works' that says 'You aren't allowed to ask others to go vote for your template, it would be unfair because you might have more friends that vote then other people'? Well I can't decide whether this would positive or negative in the polls vs. commenting because
a) I could make it that only my friends or people who have donated templates can vote, that way I know that no one is trying to win by cheating. However I don't know if this would be fair (only letting people I know vote) or not.
b) If I used a poll I would have no idea who is voting and once again, it's easier to cheat with a poll.
So if I did use commenting, should I let everyone or only my friends vote?
Question #3. Should the contestants be allowed to vote for another person or themselves while participating in the contest?
Please comment and tell me what you think about the voting systems and with any questions about the contest. And remember, if one way doesn't work out I can always change it. I also have the deciding vote, I want to see what you guys think just so I can make it fair. (Have you noticed I like fairness?) I want everybody's input for this to run smoothly! And if you're thinking, 'What's the big deal, I'm not going to cheat.' My reply would be, 'I know you and a lot of people probably won't cheat but I want everyone to feel as if they won or lost fairly and I don't want anybody's feelings to be hurt.' I'm sorry if all this seems like a big deal (and I'm trying to make it not so) and you think that it's my contest so I should decide, but I think everybody should feel like they have a say in what they think is fair!
I will post later about how I will decide whose templates I will enter and might even need some input from you guys again!
And I've sort of got the site up and running. Here's the link . I've still got to get the Template Contributors up and some of the other pages but the templates are there. I don't have ALL of the templates up but I have a lot. I was having some trouble with the links last night but I think it's fixed, let me know if you see anything that doesn't work!
Thank you to all of the people who have volunteered to name templates! If you would like to help think of names for templates please let me know.
