Beautiful weekend

This past Saturday was Dad's birthday. We were planning to go up to the mountains to see the fall colors, but then we found out dad had to work on Saturday. They always need him on the most inconvenient Saturdays...
But then he got off work at 11:00, so we got to go anyway. :) We mostly just drove around. We were going to go over Guenela Pass (I didn't spell that right....), and on the way there you have to drive through Bailey, CO. That's where the school shooting took place about a year ago. Anyway, we happened to go through there on the Saturday they had the.... I'm not sure what they call it. A memorial or something. Anyway, everybody who wanted to participate would go on a motorcycle ride from Columbine (where the shootings took place several years ago) to the Bayley highschool. There were literally hundreds of motorcycles. We must have passed at least a thousand. As far as traffic is concerned, we were going about five miles an hour, but Seth was having fun watching the motorcycles. :)
The colors were beautiful, however, the best picture scene had huge power lines right through the middle of it. And then I really don't like our camera, so I didn't take many pictures. :)

Long time no post

Well, the couples retreat was... a week ago, so I should probably tell you about that. Mom and Dad left around 5:00 (well, that's when they were supposed to leave, I'm not sure when they actually got out the door, though.). They were in Buena Vista at the Trail West... I guess you would call it a resort. I was going to say campground, but I think it was more resortish.
As far as things went at home... Seth had been sick the day before/the day they left, so they almost didn't go, but they decided to anyway. Everything went great, actually. :) We even did school on Friday. Seth slept all night both nights, which was really nice.
Mom actually bought real junk food for us to eat, too. :D Ramen Noodles, Mac and Cheese, frozen chicken patties, etc... We actually had spaghetti too. That's not junk food as far as I'm concerned. :)
Well, now my excuse for not being online for a few days.... junk food has results. Yeah... I got sick. Every but Dad got a little bit of something anyway... Mom's wasn't near as bad as the rest of us, so, we think it was from the junk food. I don't think I ever want to eat Ramen Noodles again.....anyway, I'm better now.
I got my pictures from the Mt. Evans hike, but that was a while ago.... If ya'll still want me to post some I will. Let me know. :)

A late tribute to the fallen of 9/11

Well, here I am again. Just sitting here, trying to think of something interesting to say....
Does anybody know how to make my friends show in my right module?? I really like this template, but it took things like that out. And then I would like your avatars to show when you comment... I'll have to play around with it tomorrow. :)
The couples retreat is **gasp** this week! Please pray for my sisters and I. Mom has never left Seth alone with us this long... I have a feeling he's not going to like it.
I know it's a little bit late, but here is a poem about September 11th that my sister wrote last year. I really like it, and I hope you do too.
A Tribute to the Fallen of 9/11
Two towers rise high and proud,
Above the New York City crowd.
Two planes lift off to the sky,
And nearer to the city fly.
Innocent people attending their jobs
Will soon turn into frightened mobs.

A plane comes at the tower hard and fast
Then plows in with an awful blast.
America is wailing – mourning her dead
As another plane flies overhead.
Before another hour is past,
Many more have breathed their last.
The towers that once rose so high
And pierced the New York City sky,
Are now rubble on the ground,
Where many people can’t be found.

The sky is dark, thick, smoky gray,
America can never forget that day.
Many a common man was turned hero,
The moment he stopped to help at ground zero.
It’s for these people and the many who died
Every American should feel honest pride.
Instead of two towers high in the air,
There are millions of monuments, millions of prayers,
Millions of memories that can’t depart,
Raised in many American hearts.
And while to these memories Americans cling,
We’ll never stop shouting, ‘Let freedom ring!’

And he works on your car....

When my husband and I arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up our car, we were told that the keys had been accidentally locked in it.
We went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver's side door.
As I watched from the passenger's side, I instinctively tried the door handle and discovered it was open.
"Hey," I announced to the technician, "It's open!"
"I know," answered the young man, "I already got that side."

What did ya'll do for Labor Day?? My family went to Rocky Mountain National Park. :) It is sooooo beautiful!! Unfortunatly, I don't have a camera ((yet)), so I'm going to have to steal some pictures from my mom and my sister. I'm not sure if Uncle Brian is going to send those pictures of Mt. Evans, but if he does, I'll post some of those. :)
Wow.... this is a short post....

Sweeping: not for the faint-hearted

I’ve had a fairly busy week. :) Last Thursday, this Monday, and this Thursday we cleaned a deck store that is owned by a family from church, because their cleaning people were going on a vacation. I never mind making a little extra money. :)
On Monday I was sweeping, and the dustpan had a rubber-type-thinggamoe on the edge to make it easier to sweep the dust in. The rubber had slid to one side, so I attempted to slide it back over. It was kinda stuck, so I really pushed it, and somehow I managed to cut myself. I went and rinsed it off, and then told Mom, who told me to just go hold it under the water while she got a band-aid. This has only happened to me once before when I was… I think I was 10. My vision got blurry, and I got this funny light feeling in my head, so I leaned up against the wall. Mom got back with the band-aid, put it on and told me to sit down… apparently I looked worse than I felt. It was really weird, ‘cause I really did feel like I was going to faint—after the band-aid was on and I couldn’t see it… weird. Anyway… I didn’t faint. :)
Today we went on a 14er with Uncle Brian. I always enjoy doing stuff with him. I had to get up at 4:45 because Dad was going to drop us off at Uncle Brian’s house on the way to work, and he starts work at 6:00. I had a really good time. :) I’ll have to post some pictures later. I used Uncle Brian’s camera, ‘cause I really don’t like ours. :) He said he’d burn them on a disk for me and mail them to me. :)
Anyway, if I’m going to post this, I need to go!

Couples Retreat

Mom and Dad are planning on going to the couples retreat! It will be a great break for them, and an interesting experience for us. My little brother, Seth, even though he's three, still doesn't sleep through the night, and is very cranky at times. He just requires less sleep than most people... he goes to bed around 10:30-11:00, which is past my bedtime! :O He is very picky about 'Mommy do it!', and doesn't always let us even open the door for him... he always demands that, 'Mommmy do it!' So, yes, I think Mom needs a break....
....and my sisters and I will need prayer. The retreat is still a little ways away. It is September 20-22. Anyway, I very glad that Dad and Mom can go.
Last Saturday we went shopping. Yeah... shopping isn't my favorite usually, but I guess I was just in the mood for it. :) I got a new shirt from Sears. :O We never buy stuff brand new... we always go to the good ol' thrift store, so it was nice to get something brand new. :) We did go the the thrift store, too, and I got another pair of exercise pants.
I discovered how determined I am to do this jogging thing every morning... My iPod is malfunctioning, so I didn't go this morning. Yeah... I'm really determined. So, **sigh** I'll have to see if I can't figure out why it's not working. But I did do a little bit of exercise this morning.
We are going to have another open house on Saturday. Uncle Brian also invited us to go on a 14er next Saturday. Dad said that Emily and I might be able to go, but that he'd have to stay home.
Well, that's all I have to say right now. :)
.
P.S. My little brother just got grumpy because Mom went to town without him, but THIS put him in a good mood! :) I dare you not to laugh!

House showings

We have now had three showings in a row that nobody came. How frustrating... we clean for two hours, and then nobody comes! What is up with that?!
School has been going well... math is... getting interesting. I've been on the same lesson for almost a week. :O Yeah... so I think I've almost gotten it figured out. I took my first science test of the year... and I haven't yet heard how I scored, so must have passed. Actually the test was easier than I thought it would be. :)
Dad's company picnic was last Saturday. It was at a water park. :) It was a small water park, but it was fun. :) It took a while to convince my little brother to get in, but I think that when he did he had fun. Emily and I just did the slides over and over and over and over and over and etc... I had fun, even though I didn't know anybody there. (Except my family... obviously.)
 Well, that's the news...
