Hello every one! This is my first time "blogging." I hope that you think I do a good job.

Anyway, today we went to a dieting place while Isabella was at pre-school. Not for me of course, but for mom and dad. While we were there my mom (Teresa) found out that she wasn`t allowed to do the diet because of her thyroid cancer. So my dad (Chris) is the one doing it. We`re all going to eat healthy with him, not doing the diet of course but eating healthy.

My mom also started her " barely any iodine diet" today. We also found out the dates for her radiation treatment. She will be in the hospital on Feb.13th and then she will be in isolation for I don`t know how long. I am so sad that she will be in the hospital on Valentines Day. Please keep her in your prayers.

Our friends who are adopting from Ukraine left last week to go and get the kids that they are adopting. So please pray for them to be safe also.

Well I guess I better go. I`ll try to keep every one updated.

Gentle Reminders

I read this article today and this little blurb was at the end of the article- very encouraging for me today - maybe it will encourage someone else !! It seems as though God has a way of giving out gentle reminders of the "BIG PICTURE"

As parents, we often feel that the road is long and almost never-ending at the beginning of the journey. Our strength seems too little, our patience too weak, our selfish nature too strong. But with God's grace and mercy, Christ calls us to follow His example, trusting that as we lay down our lives, he will bless our children with the strength and vision for their calling in service to the kingdom of Christ . Isn't that our parental desire?

Happy Valentine's Day

Wow- I cannot believe February is half over.... Time has really been going so quickly. Before I know it- it will be Summer

We have started off on a fun, "love" filled week at the Gresham home. We took a break from our regualr schedule to do a fun unit study on Valentine's Day. We have looked up scriptures of "love" and made handmade Valentine's (even Bella got in on the fun)--- although she liked "eating" the markers more than actually using them. Tomorrow Carly will be researching who St. Valentine was and when the first Valentine card came about. Then she & Chris will be making Valentine's dinner..... I am quite excited.

Last week was a fun week for Carly. The highlight of her week was a field trip with her Dad, a friend and her friends Dad. They went to a program & hike at a park close by. They got to learn all about different "skulls" and what kind of animals they were. Definately a good Dad & Daughter trip

By the way, Carly's basketball team has done AWESOME this year. The season ends this coming Saturday and if they win- they are #1 in their league. Then they will play in the championship the next week. It has been a really fun season and Carly has really learned alot and is a wonderful "rebound" Queen.

One of the BEST things about homeschool- the sisterly bonds . The girls have really gotten so close lately. Don't get me wrong - they still irritate each other every now and then, but they have alot of fun too....

Well, God has been so good to us. We are really enjoying homeschooling this week. Today Carly & I had a picnic in the livingroom (it was raining) and I got to read to her. We are doing alot of reading and oral work. She loves that one on one time and so do I. Isabella is even letting us do some things while she is still awake I think I am finally getting the concept- that it is a total LIFE change not just a school change. We have been staying home much more and cooking together, exercising together and studying our bible together and LOVING every minute of it .

Last week we did our first ice skating outing with the homeschool group and it was awesome and so crowded. I did not realize there were that many homeschoolers in Franklin.... Carly has a couple of friends her age that went with her and I got to leave Bella with one of the Moms who also has younger kids.

This week we will head back to Oakview (her old school) for the 3rd graders play. She wants to go see all of her old classmates perform. The teachers, principal and entire school staff has been so wonderful to us and supportive. I hope we will stay in close contact with the school throughout the years. It is a great resource for us and a great feeling knowing how wonderful the people are there just in case Carly goes back to public school

Maybe I will try to fix the picture thing on this blog over the weekend

First regular (is there such a thing) week of homeschool

Well I started put this past Monday with curriculum typed out, schedules typed and posted, rules talked about, etc., etc., etc... Monday went AWESOME. Right on schedule. Tuesday starting showing a little weakness in the "original plan" when I realized that my darling little Isabella (20 mo. old) wasn't going to stand for Mommy paying more attention to big sister than her.... So we took a step back and analyzed the schedule... and went outside for a game of kick ball with both girls (this counted as PE, guidance, recess, and even some science) :) Wednesday Carly woke up with Strep throat, so we spent the day at the doctor, pharmacy and in the bed. Thursday, she woke up feeling great so we continued with our plans and started our homeschool classes at the YMCA (Art enrichment & PE).... and this afternoon little Bella took a long nap after swimming at the YMCA, so Carly & I got caught up on the rest of our school work...She took her first spelling test - got 100%- Yippeee !!!

Tomorrow will be the last day of the first week.... Wow- I cannot believe the week went by so VERY quickly. This morning as I was having a quick conversation with God, feeling the pressure of not getting alot done so far for the week, I was saying- WHAT WAS I THINKING ?? Can I really do this? Would Carly have been better off at school this week? Well, let me tell you, God was quick to say to me, in His ever so gentle way------ IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU ----- I asked you to homeschool and Carly is MINE and you are to be OBEDIANT..... Immediatley I felt like I was planning way too much on my own and not enough with God by my side :) I forgot to think about all the the great family time we have had together this week, how Carly has gotten really close to Isabella and even gets lots of kisses and less hair pulling, how Mommy got lots of kisses & hugs through out the days from Carly, how Carly got to do her bible devotion time everyday and memorized a scripture and most importantly how we have been a calm, and laid back family every night this week !!!

Well I am defineatly looking forward to the next week, and the next and the next, etc..... I am sure I will have some great days & some stressful ones BUT I will continue to look for guidance :)
