Join Us At The Lab for Super Saturdays For Some Awesome Science Discoveries !

Pre-registration is required, regstration closes at noon on the Friday before the program.

All of our programs are appropriate for kids in ages 5-12. So if your looking for some extra time to get shopping done or just want to give your child some educational fun then drop them off at Mad Science for some science fun!. You can think of it as educational babysitting. Your kids will just think it's cool!

Each class runs 9:30-11:30AM.

Cost $20 per child

All classes include cool take homes and lots of hands on experiments.

November 14 Optical Illusions
Jr. Scientists will love building their own periscope while learning about
optics, reflection and sight. We'll watch celebrity images change before our eyes! Seeing is not always believing.

November 21 Earthqukes &Volcanoes Take a voyage to the center of the Earth! We'll investigate the powerful processes that shape the planet and form remarkable rocks, magnificent minerals, and glittering gems! Children will take home sedimentary stackers that they made themselves.

November 28 Slime Time
Explore the exciting world of polymers, the chemical reactions we use to create them, and the inner workings of slime. Transform two regular liquids into an oozing batch of your very own slime.

December 5 Harnessing Heat
Students will observe a tea bag rocket and see an underwater volcano erupt. We will change the states of matter and cap off this workshop with a taste bud pleasing demonstration of heat at work, transforming solid sugar crystals into the spun floss of cotton candy.

December 12 Where's the Air
Join Bernoulli and Newton as we take this exciting look at the science behind aerodynamics and the properties of air. The kids will use a vortex generator to create air pockets with a punch, and levitate ping-pong balls in defiance of gravity.

December 19 Stunt Planes & Gliders Workshop
The Wright brothers would be proud as we follow in their footsteps and learn the
fundamental principles of flight and aerodynamics. Build a football glider, learn
about control surfaces and build your very own loop flying stunt plane. You' all be a
Top Gun after this class.

MATC Open House

MATC Open House Scheduled for Nov. 7

Attendees will learn about MATC programs; meet faculty and staff from more than 100 degree, diploma and certificate programs; and visit interactive booths to learn about a wide range of career options. Representatives from MATC’s four campuses – Downtown Milwaukee, Mequon, Oak Creek, West Allis – will share details about campus-specific programs and activities. Financial aid advisors also will be on hand, as will representatives from other student services areas.

Kids Workshops

The Home Depot's Kids Workshops offer useful projects including the creation of toolboxes, fire trucks and mail organizers, as well as more educational projects, such as a window birdhouse, bughouse or Declaration of Independence frame kit.

The workshops teach children do-it-yourself skills and tool safety, while at the same time helping to instill a sense of accomplishment. Additionally, this fun time allows for quality one-on-one time between adults and children.

In addition to the newly constructed project kit, each child receives a kid-sized orange apron, similar to The Home Depot associates' aprons, and an achievement pin.

Youth Days: Every Saturday from noon to 2pm is for youth ages 9–15 to work one–on–one with experienced MBC volunteers, either learning to repair their bicycle or building a bicycle if they do not already own one. Youth volunteers agree to help with projects and chores needed to maintain the Bike Collective equal to the amount of time they spend on their project. For example, a youth who spends thirty minutes repairing a flat tire could then help by patching a tire for one of the bicycles the Bike Collective intends to distribute. Further, a youth who spends eight hours building a bicycle for herself will have been spending 1 1/2 hours working on his bike and 1 1/2 hours working on a project for the Bike Collective each session for a total of 16 hours work. This process of encouraging “sweat equity” instills the value of the dollar in youth volunteers as well as the value in supporting production beyond their own consumption. http://bikecollective.org/kids.html

The Wisconsin Humane Society's educational programming engages children in ways that are interactive and fun. Building a more humane community begins with our youngest citizens. Our programs help children grow into animal ambassadors who impact their peers in school and in their neighborhoods, creating real change. Using hands-on activities with help from animals at the shelter, children learn the importance of treating animals with care and compassion. We help children develop a lifelong interest in animals, a concern for their welfare and a clear sense of how they can make a difference.
