My journey homeschooling four kids! http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/ en-us Homeschool Blogger Fri, 18 Dec 2009 08:56:00 -0600 Fri, 18 Dec 2009 08:56:00 -0600 Wednesday....We did our personal schoolwork and we decided our x-mas card idea!   It promises to be very cute!   Cindy got the winning idea.   Then we read a Christmas story from a book called The Greastes Christmas Stories of All Time.  Then we learned about the crust, mantle, core and about earthquakes.   My sister came over that evening and gave Cindy and Rattlesnake an early x-mas presents.   Lots of Webkins.    Thursday...We ended up taking the day off because I shopped for the x-mas card.   I thought I was getting a great deal with a photo card, but when I opened the package I discover it did not open to a card but was just one piece that you slide a photo into...ergggg!   I tried to take a picture but this is all I got...   I am really trying not to be stressed about getting my cards out in time for x-mas:((((( Cindy had gymanastics and Twin2 had guitar!   http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/752853/ Fri, 18 Dec 2009 08:56:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/752853/ Monday....boy are we off our something...things are not flowing smoothly.   We kinda sorta get our stuff done but it is not satisfying.   We did our personal schoolwork and then I read the Wicked, Horrible Histories of the World.   Then they watched some Histories videoes...I should keep track of that too...shame:)  Tuesday...A little better than Monday...but things are not clicking...Mornings are great than Twin2 has his sleep schedule messed up big time...he was staying up late reading so much that now he can't fall asleep at night and he is draggy and cranky all day.   It throw our afternoon off by a couple hours because I end up waiting for him.   Maybe tomorrow I will do schoolwork with him first.....Anyways...Personal schoolwork and then I finished the Phantom's Tollbooth...Funny or should I say Punny!   I liked it!   I should have done more but Twin2 wore me out :))) We watched a little of a Native American movie and the kids finished putting up the Christmas tree!  Yeah!  I am caught up on my blogging:)))) http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/752302/ Tue, 15 Dec 2009 23:08:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/752302/ Saturday....We laid around..actually I tried fix up our savagely trashed house...than we went to the theater at 1pm for our 2pm performance...that performance went just great...I was not surprised...I think though that the kids got on of their songs off beat and the director had to go down and coach them and she almost missed the curtain on the second act!   We were laughing because we really do rely on her direction...After that show we went downstair and ate lots of pizza and got ready for a second performance....that also went well, but I was tired.   We did not get home until 10:30pm.   But fun! Sunday...I slept in and chilled and still tried to fix up our savagely trashed house.   I am curious if the kids deliberately pick up stuff around the house and just drop it randomally around?  Than we headed for our last show at 2pm.   The stage lights went out for my daughter's soldier's dance.   Poor thing..but she saw the humor it.   Mistakes make it memorable and not boring.   Twin1 did his very first curtain/finalle bow!   He did a great job and was sooooooo cute.   He even smiled.   He gained so much confidence with this play.   I am stoked for him.   He can't wait to work backstage for Charolottes Web.   Then we headed to Vg's so I could pick up cream puffs for the chorus after party.   The kids were bummed because the party was only for adults.   I did have fun though...the people were unbelievably nice and welcoming to me.   I will miss not being able to participate as much because most of the chorus singing events are in the late to early evening about 25 minutes from where I live.   I might go to the practices since it is right around the corner from where I live.   Ooohhhh!....And Twin1 was the talk of the party...Everyone was so impressed how much he cared and helped and how he was so polite.  Yeah! http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/752298/ Tue, 15 Dec 2009 22:36:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/752298/ Thursday....We did personal schoolwork and we worked on counting by numbers.  esp. 7,8,9.   I wish I could tell you that I had a clever game that made it fun for them, but I was running out of time, so they practiced in kitchen while I made potato soup.  Then I read more of the Phantom Tollbooth.  Cindy had gymnastics.  We also had our last play rehearsal.   I picked Cindy on the way.  I found out that indeed my Jack in the Box picture was in the paper, but at least not the front page!....My son was in the picture with me..so cool!   Did I tell you that my daughter actually made the front page of our town's paper dressed as a wooden soldier!   After rehearsal we went to the gas station and I picked up the paper with my son and my picture in it.   I also picked up snacks for movie night.   We watched Mall Cop while my husband was at D&D. Friday..... My husband had the day off!   We did our personal schoolwork and then read Horrible Wicked Histories...that was it.   I feel that I have not been doing a lot with the schoolwork...hopefully after the play..we will get back into gear.   We got our oven today!!!!!!  It is sooo beautiful...I want to get the rest of the house upgraded to match our oven.  We love that there is a light and a chicken nugget button!   We did get the convection.   I have not baked anything yet.   My husband cooked a pizza and some pillbury cookie dough and it turned out great.  It was also opening night for our play.   We got a lot of laughs...It is fun to see our the audience reacts.   My box that I hide in though was not put together very well and I was scared that the lid was going to fall on me.   My second act Jack in the box went well it was the first time to do it with the charactors Barbie and GI Joe(they would never make reahearsals)...isn't that funny!   Barbie and GI Joe got soooo many laughs.   I even managed to get a laugh! http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/751480/ Sat, 12 Dec 2009 09:42:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/751480/ I had to take Cindy to the orthodontics because she already broke a wire.   I had braces for three years starting in the third grade and I only had one wire break.   Poor Cindy is discouraged...hopefully she doesn't break anymore wires or brackets or bands.   She got red and green braces..sooo cute.  We headed to Michael's Craft Store.   I bought some coloring posters and little puzzles and some foam sticker crafts for the kids in the play to complete.  Then we headed home and did personal schoolwork and then I read the Phantom Tollbooth and the kids watched a video on Caves and an Animal show.   I went to get my hair cut.   I don't think it turned out very well...my kids did NOT like it.   So I feel a little self conscience about going out in the world. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/751093/ Thu, 10 Dec 2009 15:38:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/751093/ We did personal schoolwork and I read Phantom Tollbooth and some of the Writesource book and I gave them an assignment to write about their most embarrassing experience. (And no.... they did NOT write about how I yelled at them in public when they were in trouble...LOL!)  I now have two writing assignment to correct and the x-mas card ideas to approve and the Christmas tree to put up.   I am going to regret being lazy on Sunday.   We had to report to the theatre at 4:00 so Rattlesnake could take his piano lessons with Gary.   Gary also plays for the Christmas show....so at 4:30 Cindy did her toy soldier part and Twin and her reported at 5 to run through the kids part and I reported at 6:30(okay I was there the whole time) to run thru the whole play.   It was fun!  Great show..but late night. http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/750732/ Wed, 9 Dec 2009 11:33:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/750732/ Sunday.... I want to get my haircut but the hair cutter canceled at the last minute..so I had all day at home! I am thinking...  feeling guilty for being lazy I am thankful for... being able to participate in theatre and that everyone is so kind to me! From the learning rooms...    Laziness...I don't think the kids mind that I have put off schoolwork From the kitchen...  Dishwasher is running and I am making tortilenni for dinner! I am wearing...   grey sweatshirt and blue pajama bottoms I am creating...  nothing, but I am going to work on the x-mas design today...I hope I am going...  to get my hair cut...it needs it sooooo bad! I am reading...  The shack...I started reading a while ago, but got distracted with library books. I am hoping...  that a picture of me in a jack in the box doesn't show up front page in the newspaper I am hearing... Mom?...Mom?..MOM!!!!!.(what do they want?) Join in the Daybook!  http://thesimplewomansdaybook.blogspot.com http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/750150/ Mon, 7 Dec 2009 11:40:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/750150/ Friday....We did not do personal schoolwork...we got our first official snowfall...there was an inch on the ground and I just did not have the heart to have them miss it. The kids decorated a gingerbread house and color a felt Christmas picture.   They watched some history shows and I read some Phantom Tollbooth.  Cindy had Gymnastics.  Saturday...We had theatre from 9-2pm.   It was fun.   I felt bad because I am listed in the program as a parent helper....but besides making sure parents sign out their kids..I have not done that much.   I certainly am not helping supervise during showtime due to my being on stage!   I also have to be in the jack in the box during second act also!  When we got home I read the bible to the kids and read the Phantom Tollbooth.   http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/750142/ Mon, 7 Dec 2009 11:28:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/750142/ We did our personal schoolwork.   I put out a long sheet paper on the floor that came as packing material and the kids colored while I read the science section of What Your Fourth Grader Should Know.   We read about the circulatory system and the respiratory system...I want to do a lapbook with them soon.  Then we starting read "The Phantom Tollbooth"  Someone left me a comment about the book and it made me curious.   It is fun to read out loud.  Then we did a writing assignment: Describe the land you would go to if you had a tolltooth.   It was hard for them at first until I told them to use their five senses.   What would you see? Hear?  Feel?  We watched a couple of Munsters and I was going to watch a nature show..but we were hungry and I didn't feel like cooking without an oven so we picked up pizza...sad though our Joann's in our town is closing...WAH!   We stopped in the store to see the sales...not many.   Then we went home to eat our pizza.   Our new oven will be here no later than the 23rd.   Thursday: I took the boys to get their haircut and then we headed to Walmart and I got the oil changed in the van and picked up some odd and ends for the theatre.  Cindy needed new pants and I needed some makeup.   We bought my husband a couple x-mas presents.  Twin2 knew what to get my husband....good thing ...I didn't!  It took me an hour to shop with the kids.   I meant to do a half a day with the kids but we were having such a great time....talking and laughing..my kids are soooo funny and they seem to really enjoy my sense of humor too!  What a blast....I did read a bit of the Phantom Tollbooth.   I told the kids we were going to have to do extra tomorrow!  We will see!    We also had theatre tonight.   Adults and kids together!   I did my Jack in the box three times.   I think I got it down by the third time.   But I feel a little foolish standing there for 4 minutes while the kids sing their song.   I am supposed to hold my arms up the WHOLE time.  Still I do LOVE to be involved.   The whole show went very smoothly.   It is going to be great.    http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/749377/ Thu, 3 Dec 2009 22:07:00 -0600 http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/amommyinluv/749377/
