<title>Today's Mission Unaccomplished</title>
<description>Today we were supposed to go to&amp;nbsp;our county's&amp;nbsp;Head Start building with dd#1 to read to the children there.&amp;nbsp; It is an ongoing&amp;nbsp;project for her advisory group at school, and I have gone with them once before because they don't have a handicapped accessible vehicle.&amp;nbsp; (Dd#1 is in a chair.)&amp;nbsp; The last time I went, I thought it would be a fun place to volunteer with the kids.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
So today I called ahead to see if I could bring the three younger kids along, and the secretary said that would be fine.&amp;nbsp; We went to dd's school and they even asked ds#1 if he wanted to read one of the stories.&amp;nbsp; Then we all drove over to the school, only to find that all of the classes that weren't taking naps were going to a magic show in five minutes!&amp;nbsp; Now, there was no way that we were going to try to compete with a magic show, so all we could do was leave.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
What a disappointment, and how tempting to think of it as a waste of a day's learning.&amp;nbsp; But I suppose it wasn't all loss, because I did give them our contact information so that we might be able to volunteer at some of their evening programs.&amp;nbsp; And the kids got to see the place and learn just a little bit about the program.&amp;nbsp; </description>

<title>Welcome</title>
<description>Welcome to my little blog house on the internet prairie.&amp;nbsp; I don't get out here often, but when I do, I will be glad to share a steaming cup of words with you.&amp;nbsp; Come on in any time.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
My kids are dd#1: 15; ds#1: 13; ds#2: 9; and dd#2: 6.&amp;nbsp; We don't post pictures here, but you'll hear about them often.&amp;nbsp; You'll hear about dh now and then as well.&amp;nbsp; He and I have just entered our forties, and we&amp;nbsp;are enjoying our second decade of&amp;nbsp;homeschooling all of our kids except dd#1, who is now at high school full time.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
Well, now's the time to say goodbye to Debzhaus and all her kin; and we would like to thank you folks for kindly dropping in.&amp;nbsp; You're all invited back again to this locality to have a heapin' helpin' of our hospitality.&amp;nbsp; Hillbilly, that is; set a spell--take your shoes off.&amp;nbsp; Y'all come back now, y'hear?
&amp;nbsp;
