"Country Life's the Life for Me" - Homeschool Blogger

Howdy, Folks! Thanks for stopping by my blog! My name is Jordan Lee and I'm a 21 yr.old born-again Christian who loves hanging out with family, church family and friends! I use to live in south/east Louisiana but now live in north/west Alabama with my mom and younger sister. My Dad was killed by a drunk driver on May 11, 2008. So, needless to say, last year was a pretty bad year for us but with God's help and help from friends, we're making it through. Slowly but surely, we're making it through. :-)

Visitors, Pictures, Garden, M.A.D.D. and New Blog Theme!

Hey Friends!

I know it seems each time I post an entry, I’m always saying “So sorry it’s been a while since I’ve posted”. So I won’t say it, even though I really am sorry for not posting.

About two weeks ago, my oldest sister, Sandy and her three children, Pokey, Heather and Hannah came up to visit from Louisiana! We were so happy about that! We hadn’t seen them since February. They only stayed a week. Wish they could have stayed longer but it was not to be. But while they were here, we brought them to the Davy Crocket Park. We all had a blast! Pokey brought his fishing pole, so he was in Cloud Nine! Here are some pictures of us while we were at the park.

I just love this place!

Heather found these eggs. We're not sure if they were fish eggs or frog eggs.

Sarah and I, love this picture of us.

Pokey and his 3 inch fish. lol! As you can see, he doesn't look like he was burned at all!

Heather playing with. . . . well. . . . . I'm not quite sure what she is doing, but whatever it is, she's having fun!

The Water Fall

Good Ol' Sabby!

I decided to give fishing a try.

And come to find out, I really liked it!

Then Sarah had to give it a try.

Pokey was on Cloud Nine! He loves to fish!

This bird got a little to close to me. I get a little scared when these things come to close.

As you can tell, Heather was NOT scared at all! Apparently, she doesn't take after her Aunt Jordan!

Hannah thought she was being so funny! (and she was)

Sarah was trying to give Hannah a kiss and Hannah did not want to have anything to do with that!

Awww! How sweet!

Doesn't she look like a cutie pie!

For the past two weeks, it has been raining off and on. Only, I wish it would stop raining ‘cuz our garden is all ready to start planting but it’s too wet to do anything. And we have most of our seeds. So, that’s been a bit of disappointment, wanting to work in the garden but it being too wet to do so.

Little Miss Hannah in the garden, before the rain came. (that night it had poured down)

As far as other things we’ve been doing, we’re been working on making aprons, bake sales to help raise money for M.A.D.D. which is Mothers Against Drunk Driving. On May 2, M.A.D.D. is having a walk-a-thon type thing to help raise awareness. And Mom, Sarah and I are going to be walking in it! (that’s what the bake sale was for) We are so totally excited about it! :-) We can’t wait!

And as ya’ll can see, I’ve changed my blog theme. :-) I thought maybe it would motivate me to start blogging more. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. :) Anyway, I think this is a long enough entry for now. :) Hope ya’ll have a wonderfully blessed day!

                            lots of hugs,

                              Jordan Lee

PRAYERS NEEDED!!!!

Hey Friends!!!

I know I said I was going to try to post more often, but last month was a bit busy and I did not have time! But as the title of this entry says, your prayers are needed!!! Saturday, my 13 year old nephew went fishing with a friend and when they got back to the house, they decided they were going to build a fire. Well, they threw a spray can into the fire and it blew up in my nephew's face! They brought him to the ER. Then this morning, they brought him to the doctor. It's bad! He was on medicine stronger than morphine but my sister stopped giving him it and is giving him Motrin instead. Which I'm real glad she switched 'cuz I've heard so many stories where the person gets addicted to it. His face and right hand was burned pretty badly. His hand hurts and his face only hurts when he sneezes. I would of posted a picture but I have some very young friends and I thought it would be too much for them. :) Thanks ya'll for any and all prayers!!!!

lots of hugs,
Jordan Lee

Just abunch of news!

  Hey Friends,

I’m so sorry about not writing for a while. I’ve been staying up kind of late at night, either catching up on my reading or doing some crocheting. First, I’d like to say “Thank-you” for praying for Kinley. She has been doing really well. I mean, for someone who the doctor said she had only two or three days to live. It’s a miracle. Totally a “God Thing”.
Let’s see, what have we been doing lately. . . . Mom, Sarah and I are cleaning an office building once a week. And we have been making aprons to sell at “The Big Red Store” next month. They are really, really, really cute! I want them all! Here are a couple of pictures of them.
Me cutting out the aprons

The finished aprons. We have a bunch more made.

This past Sunday, Sandy brought her kids up to stay with us till my whole family comes up for Thanksgiving. It’s been really fun having them here. Though Sarah and I have more things to do with them here, it’s still fun. The past few days, I have really had some busy days. I do chores, I help Mom do school with Pokey and Heather while she does school with Hannah, and Sarah and I cut out apron patterns so mom can sew them together. It can be quite funny while doing school with the kids. But sometimes it can get quite frustrating when they are trying to study for a spelling test but they just can’t seem to get the words spelled right, even when you try to help them but it takes 10 or 12 times before they get them right. But all in all, it’s great. :-D

A few days ago, Hannah and I made some cookies. She had a blast. Here's a couple of pictures.

While the kids have been here, Sarah has been teaching Hannah how to tie her shoes. And today, while I was sort of helping, she tied it by herself!!!! I was so proud for her! I think I was more excited than she was! :-D Here’s a picture of her, right before she tied her shoe. :-D

And, a few hours ago, Sarah had her first experience with the. . . . . . "Bar-B-Q pit"!!! Here's a picture to document that momentous moment!

Oh! Guess what!!!! We now have. . . . . "drum-roll please" . . . . . . "High-Speed Internet"!!!!! Yeah!!!! We are so happy about having it!!! Well, I think this is a long enough entry for right now. :-) Well, I hope ya'll enjoyed this and I hope ya'll have a wonderfully blessed day or evening!

                            lots of love,

                               Jordan Lee

Prayer Request

  Hey ya'll,

I am writing asking for prayer for a little girl in my Mom's Kid's Church class that she started to teach last Sunday.

Her name is Kinley and she was taken to the doctor last Wednesday cause she was having headaches, throwing up and her eyes were bulging. The doctor did and MRI and her parents were told to bring her back on Friday, which they did. The results were that Kinley has an aggressive tumor which is inoperable and the doctors say she is terminal and she was given 2-3 days to live. She was transfered to a hospital in Birmingham where the doctors plan on beginning chemo on her on Monday or Tuesday to try and prolong her life for a week or two more. I know that some of you would think, "why try and prolong her life?" If this was your child, wouldn't you want to try and keep her alive, even if it is for one more day? Every day that Kinley lives, is one more day that the Christians can pray for God to do a miracle. On Sat. Kinley was taken into surgery where the doctors drilled holes in her head and stomach to drain spinal fluid that has built up. This morning in Kid's Church my Mom is going to have the children make special "get well" cards for Kinley and on Monday, my Mom, Sarah and I will bring them to her at the hospital. So, I beg each of you to pray for Kinley and if at all possible to pass this prayer request along to others. Thank you all so much. Hope ya'll have a wonderfully blessed day!

                      lots of hugs,
                           Jordan Lee

It's Already One Month

   Hey ya'll,

As the title of this entry says, it's already one month. Today is one month that my Dad was killed. And tomorrow will be one month that we found out that he was killed. It's still really hard to believe that he is really gone. But it helps to know that he is in better hands right now. There is three songs on the radio that has been playing a lot. It's almost like each time one of us turns on the radio, it's playing. :) One of them is "In Better Hands" by: Natalie Grant. I think it is now my favorite song. It's just so true! Every word of it!

Yesterday, we went to on neighboring town to get some more vegetable plants for our garden. I don't know how it came about but Mom told the lady who owned the place about what happened to Dad and when Mom was asking her how much all the plants were going to cost, she said nothing. She gave all the plants to us!!! And we had gotten over 130 different plants! And she gave them all to us! After we loaded all the plants into the van, Mom asked the lady if she would mind if we prayed with her and the lady said no, she wouldn't mind. So, we were really blessed yesterday! God has really been taking care of us. We have had two houses offered to us, rent free along with a lot of other things that would take a while to list. And now, all these vegetable plants! It's totally a God thing! :) So, we'll be working in the garden a lot more this summer. Making sure the garden stays weed free. :) Sort of like dedicating this garden in memory of Dad. :) I'm really hoping we can work in it today. :)
Well, That's all I have to write about this time. :) I hope ya'll have a wonderfully blessed day and please make sure ya'll tell ya'll Dads that ya love him 'cuz you never know when will be the next time ya see him.

                       lots of love,

                            Jordan Lee

Thank Ya'll For The Prayers!!!

  Hey ya'll,

Well, I felt it was time to do another entry. :) I want to thank everybody for ya'lls prayers and comments! My family and I have been doing ok. It's still hard. You know, we still have our moments when we just need to cry and stuff. My thing is, when something funny happens, I just want to tell Dad but then I remember that he's not here anymore. So, that's really hard. But my only comfort is, is knowing that my Dad is in Heaven right now! :-) But today was a really good day for us. Mom, Sarah and I went visit Aunt Nat. My Mom's sister. Well, she's got a huge swimming pool in her backyard, so Sarah and I were able to go swimming while we were there. We had so much fun! And we are so sunburned! :) But I think it was so worth it! Sarah and I needed that fun time! And our young cousin, Gage was there, so he came swimming with us. It was a blast! I think Mom snapped a few pictures of us in the pool. I'll have to post them soon. :-) Then, after we got out of the pool, Aunt Nat fixed us some Mac & Cheese, some pizza and some hotdogs. It was totally good! :-) Well, I know this is a really, really short entry but I need to go comment back to everybody who has left me a comment. :) I hope ya'll have a wonderfully blessed evening!

                       lots of love,

                           Jordan Lee

Today Would Of Been My Dad's Birthday

   Hey ya'll,

Well, I figured it was time for me to type up an entry. I had started to do one last week but I never did finish it. I don't think I'll ever finish that one. All I keep thinking is, is that this is a really horrible nightmare! And that at any moment, I'll wake up and he'll walk through the door but I know he won't! My heart hurts so badly! It's like part of my heart was taken when he died! The last thing I remember him saying to me when he left Alabama to go back down to Louisiana was, "take care of your mom, alright? I Love You". And the thing is, we almost forgot to say good-bye to each other. 'Cuz, right as he and the kids were about to leave, I was helping the kids try to catch their dog, snowball. While we were doing that, Dad went and got in the van. And at the last second, I remembered and rushed around to the driver's side and kissed him good-bye and told him that I loved him and that's when he told me to take care of mom. And I will keep that promise 'til the day I die! And guess what! Today would of been my Dad's 52nd birthday. It was hard on all of us. We went to where Dad was killed and put up a cross with his name and the date he was born and the date that he died up on a tree that was right there by the side of the road. Well, I'll try to post another entry soon. Mom needs the computer now. :) I hope ya'll have a wonderfully blessed night!

                       lots of love,

                            Jordan Lee

We need prayer

This is Celeste, Jordan's sister. My dad Elgin was in a car accident last nite (Sunday) and was killed. As most of ya'll know, he's a truck driver and he was bringing a load of stuff to the Fourchon and another pickup truck in the other lane went off the high-way and then over-compensated the other way and hit him head-on, the truck then split in half and exploded. When I called to find out where he was taken to, they said that they would not recommend us going to identify him because it was so bad. Our family is in such shock right now, we don't know what to do. My daddy was our everything and we feel so lost without him. Please, please pray for us.
