A Trail Through the Forest

A Trail Through the Forest

The trail began at the east side of the forest. It was a dirt path that wiggled through the forest like a forest. The path was so beautiful to walk on.
On the side of the trail you could see thousands of trees, almost every kind you could think of. There were wild flowers of all the colors of the rainbow. Mushrooms crawled all over the ground like a bunch of ants.
You can hear blue jays singing joyful songs. There are crickets chirping all around you. The wind is whistling in your ear you might like to do to a bottle.
The feeling of the wild blowing through your hair makes you smile. You can feel the branches from the trees hitting your arms. The rocks under your feet are like marbles making you slip.
As you keep walking you see all kinds of God’s creatures. Up in the trees are squirrels with big fluffy tails. On the ground is a bouncy little bunny. If you're lucky, you may see a raccoon or even a big brown bear.
Walking down the path you come to a patch of wild berries where the sun shines though the towering trees. The wild berries taste very sweet. They stain your fingers and face a bluish-purple color.
You keep walking and soon you come to a stream. It is a beautiful blue. You can see all the way to the bottom. There were all kinds of colorful rocks like in a fish bowl. You could see tons of little minnows swimming in the water.
Looking around you see leaves falling off of the trees, dancing in the wind. Then you see a wild deer and her fawn are looking at you from a distance. Wondering what you will do next. Then the fawn jumps joyfully in the sun light as the mother deer watches her baby.
As you keep walking to the west you think about all you have seen that day. How much you enjoyed your self. Then you look up and see a beautiful sunset through the trees. How thankful I am to God for making such a beautiful forest.

Pumpkin bars

I made pumpkin bars for our New Year's Eve party because Mom told me to. She gave me the recipe and I did what it said to do. You were supposed to mix everything together, but the cake mix , and sprinkle the cake mix on top then bake. I checked it while it was baking and the cake mix was not absorbing into the rest like it was supposed to. I was trying to get the cake mix to soak in by tapping the top. When it came out it turned out good. Everybody liked it! Fuuew!

I painted my room!

I painted my room! I was so happy to get rid of that bunny border. lol I picked "Chocolate Curl". When you walk into my room, it looks like a chocolate bar! Mom thought it was going to be to dark, but I love the color! It took me (and my sister helped) a whole day to paint my room with some breaks. It was hard in one part of my room because I have a shelf, so I had to paint around and behind without getting paint on it.

Apple Pie Slices

Megan my little sister and I made apple pie slices for Home Ec. We got Apples from my Grandpa's farm. So they had lots of bugs in the apples to cut around so it toke a long time to get 8 cups of apples! After we got all the apples done. We made the crust and the rest if the filling. Put it all together and bake it. And you get Mmmmmmm!

               Right out of the oven!

With the frosting. Mmmmm... I love it!

Canned Tomatoes

For my Home Preserving class I canned tomatoes. There were like 3 steps.
Step 1: You wash the tomatoes. Then you boil them for 10 seconds if it was a small tomato and 15 seconds if it was a large tomato. Next, you take it out of the boiling water and put it into a sink of cold water.
Step 2: You peel the tomatoes skin off. Some of them you had to just barely slice with a knife and just grab the skin and it came right off. And on some others the skin cracked while it was boiling so they just came right off when you grabbed it. Next, after the skin is off, you core it and cut off any bad spots.
Step 3: After you have boiled your jars to sanitize them. You cut your tomatoes into chunks and put them in the jars, but you have to push them down and make sure there are no air bubbles. Next, you put 1/4 teaspoon of salt in each jar. And then you put the cover on the jars. Lastly, you put the jars back into the pot of water and boil for 35 minutes.

And that's a jar all done!

Jelly

For my Home Ec. Class I made jelly. I made them two different ways.
The round jar is grape jelly. For the grape jelly, I boiled sugar and some home made grape juice in a pot until it sheeted on a spoon. Then you put it in your jars and seal.
The taller jar is raspberry-jalapeno jelly. For the raspberry-jalapeno jelly, I boiled for 1 minute the raspberries, jalapenos, green bell peppers, sugar, apple cider vinegar, and a sprig of mint. Then you take it off the heat and let sit for 5 minutes. Next, you add pectin and strain it fast. After you strain, you put it in your jars and seal.

            Thats them all done!

For Home Management, I painted my little sister Paige's bedroom. We painted it a light purple. I did the rolling. I cut-in a little too because my little sister Megan could not reach the high places, but she did all the other cutting-in.
In this picture is Me rolling and Megan cutting-in.

Here are two walls all done. In this picture is my little sister Paige and my big sister Katie.
