Wildflower Corner - Homeschool Blogger

Welcome to my blog! I love being 9 years old. I have three little brothers and I love them a lot. I love reading. I love violin, piano, and ballet. I love nature, especially birds. My favorite animals are horses (and I love them, too, of course). I have a pet hamster named Flurry that I love. I love homeschooling...But most of all, I love God who has blessed me with SO MUCH LOVE!
"I have loved you with an everlasting love." Jeremiah 31:3

Spring, My Poem.

This is my poem called "spring is here" Thank God it is finally coming!

                     Spring is Here!

I love to feel the grass under my feet,
And to see the birds peaking with their beaks,

                   It's Spring!

I love to see the flowers,
And to smell their wonderful bowers

                  I's Spring!

I see the buds,
I know that leaves will soon be here,

                 It's Spring!
The fog has lifted...
Away it drifted!

               It's Spring!

Hello to the butterflys!
Hello to the Bees!
Hello to the birdies making nests in the trees!

               It's Spring!

Now that it's spring I have so much to do,
Hoeing, raking, and weeding to do!

            Spring is Here!

The Great Flood ( my poem )

I wrote this poem for my history writing assignment, I hope you like it! Well, here it goes!

                                                                   The Great Flood

The rain did pelt and pound,
And thunder made the greatest sound,
The lightning flashed and almost touched the ground.
The wind whirled and whistled around
The earth trembled as thunder shook the ground.

There was a great storm at hand!

Inside the ark Noah and his family listened to the rain,
While the animals kept up a steady chattering and braying,
The men outside cried and said,
We should have been good, for,

God's just wrath is at hand!

When the rain stopped and the land dried,
Noah cried,
"Oh Lord, I knew you would see us through!"
His head he lifted up,
His arms he lifted up,
And his heart he lifted up, and gave it to the Lord.

A new earth was at hand!

Just a story.

Here is a story that I wrote for composition:

                                                                          Frank and Carl

Once there were to boys, Carl and Frank. These two boys were school mates but they were not friends, Frank was always teasing Carl, for Frank learned all his lessons quite easily, but Carl had to work very hard to learn his lessons. One day, the teacher announced a spelling bee, witch was to take place in a week. Frank decided that he did not have to study because " they are all baby words, anyway, I want to go fishing!''
So he went along to the pond. He had only been there five minutes before Carl and his friend John came along "Hmph" thought Frank "They probably came to study!" "Hey" He said aloud, "I bet your scared of the test, aren't you!" "No" said Carl, "but we are cautious!" And they proceeded to study. Every day Carl, Frank and John went to the pond, Carl and John to study, and Frank to play foolish games such as scaring ducks, floating his toy boat, fishing {though he was not aloud to eat the fish.} But most of all, teasing Carl. So finally, the day of the test came, Carl and John had studdied long hours each day, but Frank had not so much as looked at one word. As it turned out, Carl won first, John won second, but Frank was out first, on a baby word, Just as he had said they all were.

                                                                             The End

Thank you Miss Claire H.!

Claire H. came to my town to give a tea party and a talk on modesty. She is a wonderful young woman and a homeschool graduate. She started the Rosa Mystica Modesty Movement to help spread the virtue of modesty. Here is a link to her Rosa Mystica Modesty Movement website where you can find her blog and find out some other things about her. The thing I remember most from her talk is that she said the way you can find out if something is modest is to think in our time, what would Mary the mother of Jesus wear? I think that is a very good suggestion. Before the talk for all the moms and daughters she gave a talk on the saints lives just for the young girls, and after the talk we all had a fun "girl time" doing each others hair while she told us stories about the lives of the saints. I was lucky enough to have my hair done by Claire,in a BEAUTIFUL french braid, nobody can give me a french braid like that. If I had an older sister, I would want it to be Miss Claire.

Thank you so much, for writing and illustrating "a princess of pure love" Miss Claire H.! It is an awesome coloring book, I usually do not like to color in coloring books but I simply LOVE this one! here is the cover:

                                                                  Thanks again Claire,

State Meet: Two Red and Two Blue Ribbons!

This was my first year doing gymnastics, and I've really loved it! So far I've done three meets. Last time I earned a white ribbon in bar, and at the State meet I earned a red. Even though I earned two blue ribbons, I was most happy about earning a red in bar because I had to work so hard and really improved. I also improved on beam. Last time I earned a red ribbon, and this time I earned a blue. I love gymnastics because it really challenges me. I love to see myself be able to do things I couldn't do before just by working hard and practicing.

I also like watching my friends be able to do things they couldn't do before, like my friend who came to practice one day and she had been working hard on her back handspring. She didn't even know she could do it because she had always needed a spotter, but this day she did it before the spotter could even reach her! She was so surprised she stopped, and the coach stopped the music and gave her a big high five. That's why I love gymnastics!

A Very Happy Birthday!

I'm 9! I had a very happy birthday. When I woke up I looked in the mirror to see if I looked older. I thought I looked just as 8 as ever. But I did kind of feel older. One of my favorite parts was going ice skating. It was kind of scary at first because the last time we went my little brother Isaac's finger got stepped on with an ice skate blade and had to go to the hospital for stitches. Thank goodness nothing like that happened this time! We had a lot of fun, especially trying to skate backwards.

After that we went home and had cake and presents. My favorite present was my new American Girl Doll, Felicity! I made a bed for her out of her box. I like the time she lived in, the 1700's in colonial America. I love to read about that time. My favorite book is about Felicity's friend, "Very Funny, Elizabeth."

I want to say a very special thank you to a few people. First, Grandma Ruth who was suffering through a difficult illness and still made time to get me a present, actually three, and be there on my birthday to make me feel special. Next, to Grandma Shirley and Grandpa Jim for the wonderful American Girl movies that I have loved watching. And last but not least to Papaw and Grandma Cathy for the beautiful American Girl dress.

The most special thank you of all goes to God my Creator who gave me the gift of life and joy and happiness because without Him I would be nothing. My birthday is an opportunity to think about all the gifts He has given me, especially the special people he has put in my life. THANK YOU!!!

Easter!

Easter Blessings to you and your family!

We had an awesome Easter!

As soon as I woke up I got into my Easter dress. I am grateful to have such a pretty Easter dress this year. It is my favorite dress that I have ever had. It was hand made for me by Scarlet Thread. They are a lovely family that make the most beautiful dresses.

As soon as I had it on my brothers and I went outside and looked for Easter eggs that Mom and Dad had hidden. We also had to find our baskets. Mine had two bunnies.

Then I got to sing in the choir at church. After that my Grandma and my Great Grandma came over and we had breakfast. After that we ate candy and my brothers went outside. My Grandma was sick, so we said extra prayers for her.

This is the home made butter that we made for Easter dinner. My brothers and I got to take turns shaking the jar, and my Grandma cleaned it and put it in the mold. It tasted great on fresh homemade bread!

NA ZDROWIE! That's the Polish toast that my Great Grandma taught us. We were sad that my Grandma couldn't come downstairs for dinner. I made the creamed peas.

I had a great Easter and I hope you did, too. May the joy of the risen Christ be with you now and always!
