10 Years Ago Today

Well, 10 years ago today my dad passed away. It's an easy day for me to remember because it was the day before I turned 40. Yes, that also means that tomorrow I turn 50. Enough about that, this is for my dad.
Back in September of 1999, my Mom called all us kids to tell us that dad's health was getting bad. That if we wanted to come and see him one last time while he still knew who we were that now was the time. I wanted to see my dad. Darrell and I arranged everything for me to make the trip and stay a week
I was the only kid that came in to see him. I now have my wonderful memories of that visit. Yes, my dad knew who I was. My mom asked him if he knew who was sitting next to him. He said, "Yes, It's my Jeanie girl with the light blond hair.
My dad then passed away in December. I did not go to Tennessee for the funeral. My brothers and sisters all complained to mom that I wasn't there. My mom set them all straight. She said she came and saw your dad when he was still here with us, so you kids back off her. I couldn't afford to do the trip again. I was happier to see him alive.
Well, I'm going to sign off now and go wipe away my tears. I Love You and Miss You Dad.

Thanksgiving Day

Yes, I know I'm a week late, but I still wanted to blog about it.
We got up as a family at 6 am to start our day off with family devotions. My husband just went to the swing shift, so this is the time that works for us to all be gathered together and starting the day off with the Lord just makes it even better.
We did things different this year. We will not be celebrating what people call Christmas on December 25 any more. We still wanted to do a gift exchange so we thought what better day to give gifts than the day set aside to give thanks-Thanksgiving.
After devotions we sit around thegiving basket of gifts. We held hands and prayed about things that we have been thankful for. Then we gave gifts. It was a different change, but one we enjoyed doing very much. It is now our new tradition.
Darrell, then went off to work and I also put in a few hours at my job. We did a neighbor pot luck dinner. Each family cooked a portion of the meal. I made the deviled eggs, pumpkin and dutch apple pies, and yes folks, my famous fruit cake. We had a wonderful time and great fellowship.
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

7 Down

Well, we have just finished 7 weeks of school. Some have been really good weeks and some have been bad. We want our son to know simple household functions so this year I'm teaching him a home-ec class. We are starting with cooking. He knows how to do scrambled eggs. He is getting better at quacking the egg. He has volunteered to make treats for the King's Kids program at church. He made them brownies. Next time he is going to make lemon bars. Later we will do sewing class. He will probably make things to give to people. He has an art project to do and give to a friend.Tony got a new shirt. It says: This is my no homework today shirt. He loves to wear it as often as possible. It doesn't stop the work though.
Someone told us that you can make mountaindew glow in the dark. We tried that experiment and it was busted. No glowing!!!
Our weather has finely started to cool down. We can get out and enjoy the days now. Dad is going to do some physical activites with Tony. They are out cutting and stacking wood right now. Does that fit under p.e.class or the child labor law(Tony calls it slavery).
Well, I'm not going to make any promises as to when I'll post again, but I will. So just keep your eyes open for the next one.

2nd Year of Homeschooling

Well summer break is over with. We had some nice times this summer doing family things. In some peoples eyes or opinions they were probably dull but it's all we could afford to do. We went out on the Colorado River in our boat a few times. Celebrated Tony and Darrell's birthdays. Had our anniversary. Spent the 4th of July with the church family up at the Hualapi Mts. Finally got our pool put up and got to spend some hot days cooling off in it. Well the fun ended today.
Today was our first day of school. It started off a little rough but Tony soon settled down and got studies done. We learned some things that didn't work last year so not doing that this year. Going to improve on the things that did work for us.
Will keep you in touch as the year progresses.

Learning Something New

They say you should try to learn something new everyday. doing our family Bible reading time the other day I came across a verse I hadn't noticed before. I have read through the Bible many times but hadn't focused in on the words in this verse.
Did Jesus Christ baptize his believers? NO!
John 4:2 Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples did.
I had to highlight that and read it again to make sure I heard it correctly. I guess I just always assumed he baptized his followers when then asked.
I love learning things and especially when it's something about my Blessed Lord.

Playing Catch Up

Well, it's been over a month since I last posted a blog. I like to blog but, I just don't lead an exciting life to write about. I work, homeschool, wife and mother, and try to get some sleep time. The last time I posted was Father's Day. So here's a few things that have happened since then.
June 22, was the 60th Anniversary of my dear husband, Darrell's birth. That's the way he likes to phrase it. He's a little different. That's one of the reasons I love him. We had our Monday night tacos and I made him a cake.
Then we jump ahead to July 4th. We joined our church for a picnic up at the Hualapai Mountains. We had a great time.July 14th was not a good day. Tuesday I work from 6 am to 7:30pm, but this one change. At one o'clock I had to go to Safeway to shop for a client. Got the groceries and decided to get gas before going back to the clients. Got back in the car and it wouldn't start. Had to call Darrell to come to my assistance. It ended up being that the heat ate my battery. I could say more about the rest of the day, but I will stop my comments here - - - -(to bad to write about)
We have been working on putting a pool up since the beginning of this year. It is an above ground pool but we wanted to put at least half of it in the ground. We also wanted to have this done before June got here, bringing with it the HOT temperatures. We finally got it up last week end. It was hard work, since we were the only ones doing this. Trying to find the time to work on it. Running into all kinds of problems. It is finally up. It has water in it, and we can swim and keep cool in it. Still have to do work around it, like filling all the dirt in around it, but we have half of that done already.
Today is our dog, Lucky's 6th Birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCKY!!!

Fathers

Today is Father's Day. If you still have your dad with you, let him know how much you care about him. Tell him you LOVE HIM. My dad passed away the day before I turned 40. My Mom called us a few months before dad got really bad and told all us kids that if we wanted to see dad before he got worse this was the time. I flew back home to TN and spent a week with my dad. He remembered who I was. My mom asked him if he knew who it was there to see him and he said, "Yes, it's my Jeanie with the lite blond hair"(sorry tears are flowing). That's what he always called me. I will always have that memory.
At my house this weekend, I fixed a big turkey dinner. You ask why fix this big meal and heat up the kitchen here in hot AZ. Well, I did it for a few reasons. Today being Father's Day and tomorrow my dear husband, Darrell turns 60. I also wanted to get this big thing out of the freezer and make some room. I thought this was a good time to do that.
Here's a nice Father's Day poem.
FATHERS ARE WONDERFUL PEOPLE
author unknown

Fathers are wonderful people,
too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
as often as we should,
For Father struggles daily
to live up to his image
As protector and provider
and hero of the scrimmage,
And perhaps that is the reason
we sometimesget the notion
That fathers are not subject
to the thing we call emotion.
But if you look inside Dad's heart,
where no one else can see,
You'll findhe's sentimental
and soft as he can be.
Fathers are just wonderful
in a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
and accolades of praise,
For the only reason Dad aspires
to fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
and bring them happiness,
And like our heavenly Father,
he's a guardian and a guide,
Someone we can count on
to be always on our side.

Family

We just recently celebrated Mother's Day and Father's Day is just next Sunday. Many people don't even know what a biblical traditional family is anymore.
We have grandparents in their retirement years raising their grandchildren. Some have to for good reasons, but many because the kids want to play adult games(the mild way to state it) but when these circumstances produce an unwanted child they get aborted or given life. But they then pawn that child off on their family members to raise for them so that they can go right back to their game playing. We have men and women living together in fornication raising children. The Bible tells us in Acts 15:20 and I Thessalonians 4:3 to abstain from fornication. We have homes with two moms or with two dads. The Bible tells us that this is very wrong. Leviticus 18:22-23 and Leviticus 20:13
The true family is becoming a thing of the past. Genesis 12:3 tells us that God will bless the family. The Biblical family consist of a father, mother, and their children. The father is the spiritual leader of the family. Genesis 2:24 Man shall leave his mother and father and cleave unto his wife. Genesis 3:16 Man shall rule over the woman. Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. Children need to see that their parents love the Lord and serve Him sincerely. Proverbs 24:3 Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established.
God gives the parents wisdom for teaching and training our children. WE DARE NOT LOOK TO THE WORLD FOR IT'S COUNSEL ON HOW TO INSTRUCT AND DISCIPLINE CHILDREN. Proverbs 22:6 gives us guidance on training up our child. Proverbs 13:24 tells us not to spare the rod. The world calls this child abuse. The public schools tell the kids to call 911 is their parents spank them.
As Jesus gave himself for the church that He loves, we are to give ourselves to those we love. Parents are responsible to instruct and correct their children. Proverbs 4:1 Child hear the instruction of the father.

Things I've been up to

Well I haven't posted anything in some time. I don't do alot of exciting things. We are done with homeschool for now, but we always give Tony school work to do to keep his mind active and fresh. A friend of his gave him this piece of honeycomb. I had him gather information on how a bee makes the honeycomb.
Darrell is busy putting our pool in the ground. It's hard work since he has to deal with the hours he can do it and the heat. Someday it will get put up.
I have been busy with work. When I'm not working I've been getting in touch with my family members that I haven't seen or heard from i years. We are also working out on our family Wii Fit Board. It's lots of fun.
That's all the info I have for now. Getting together some notes on issues of the Bible. So will post when I've got some of thos thoughts organized.
