At Home With the Speers Family... - Homeschool Blogger

God continues to work in our lives, and we continue to seek His face for the answers. We are just a normal family trying to do what is right for us, and Homeschooling is working into our life well.. By His Grace only will this new adventure work. SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED ONTO YOU.

The Pecking Order

We have our own hens out in our coop that give us the best eggs. We have had them now for a year and a half and have decided to add to our flock. I was not aware or new much about the Pecking Order (Only in Human terms LOL) so i am having lesson 101 on the whole matter, it can get very violent when adding new ones . I wrote about this situation on my Facebook page today and had a little giggle after reading what one of my friends said. She said " someone once told me that the Pecking order is like kids that attend school" .. I love when I get yet another confirmation on why my kids are much better off learning at home and out in the world. YES there is pecking order in all things, but I will prepare them with their heads held high and that they won't let others push them around or push others back. 3 Cheers for Self Esteem

November and at the beach

The weather in Ontario Canada this past summer was nothing to write home about. September was not to bad, and then October Brrrrrr cold again;o( So we just thought that winter was right around the next corner and we would be ice skating & building snowmen before you new it. To our surprise this past week has been amazing weather. We have been to the beach 3 times, not to swim of course but beachcombing has been loads of fun, and rock collecting a great teaching tool indeedy.

I couldn't help to think this week well enjoying the sunshine and awesome beach time with my kids, that the kids in the public system must have been feeling cramped up. Yes they would have had recess and they may have had a really nice teacher that would take them outdoors, but you know what i'm saying??? Right???:o) Just not the same.

Love that nice weather brings people out of the wood work, and to think in just over a month we will be sipping hot cocoa around the Christmas Tree.Every moment is a time to learn about somthing new ;o)
The BIG beach chairs never get old for the kids;o)

April Showers bring May Flowers

April Showers....Bring May Flowers
April was a fantastic month of learning new and exciting things, I mean really, what gets better that Gods handy work??? Nothing in my opinion.
We spent many moments watching the signs of spring, from birds returning to our feeders, to buds poking out on the trees, perennials peeking through the soil after a long winters nap.
Isn't God our best teacher in all areas not just what He shows us in scripture.......LOOK what he shows us everyday around us, I saw the face of the almighty in the sunset last night, and in the bumble bee hovering that tulip today.
Awesome Teacher indeed I say.... If you are worried of what to teach your children or are they learning enough??? God is looking after it isn't He... I still at the age of 30 learn something new everyday that God just needed me to know at that very moment....
Thankyou father for setting the stars in the sky and the fluffy clouds, each of these things with a blanket on the ground become wonderful teaching tools..
Since You came into my life, dear Jesus, I am filled with a fascinating joy. You have given me a new song, and I find myself singing it at the most unusual times.
I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God.

Reading to our children

With Spring upon us and more days of outside education time, I take full advantage of a comfy blanket a good book and little ones ear to take in a world of imagination. This week we are off in the world of Anne Shirley, Marilla, Matthew....and everyone else related to Green Gables. What a timeless storie and great that the authur Lucy Maud Montgomery is Canadian.. So many things can be added into this reading time that teaches on so many different levels. I write this blog to remind each of us how wonderful it isto read to our children, and that we must not stop when we think they are getting to old for that. I have great memories of times when someone else was reading the story......... pick out a Beloved favorite and get reading

Moving Right Along

I have really enjoyed the time I am spending on teaching myself before teaching my kids, because being a homeschool rookie can be a little scary.. I am loving how much stuff the world wide web can offer, even when it is so large and so full and what do you spend time on. I have just in the last week joined a homeschool group that has 18 families within it ..COOL.. Very neat to sit and chat with other Moms that are on the same path in life. Sometimes you can feel like the odd one out.. To carry on in our journey I took the girls to the Public Library and Chloe has her very own card.. she is so happy about the whole thing... The very cool thing about this library is that all the ones in our county which make about 18 different branches.. if one place doesn't have the book they will find it at another one.. I can do it all online and tell them what Library I want to pick them up at, and they will be waiting for me when I get there.. this is very helpful when you are going with kids and end up not getting to look around yourself.. Anyways.. Things are MOVING RIGHT ALONG.. and we are embracing every moment we can.. Just keep stepping forward..

Spring is in the Air

Things are busy around our house the last while, spring is coming and lots to be ready for. I love when a new season starts in nature and in life itself, God is so awsome to give us new beginnings. We have started spring cleaning around our house, because if it doesn't get done now the sun calls us outdoors and the indoors get put on the back burner. Everything must get done. better to put a hold on schooling for a couple weeks, so that we can regroup and do tons of learning outside..We have our gardens on the brain now and are looking forward to sowing our seeds and watching and learning. We are also building a hoop greenhouse this spring so plans of that are getting on there way tooo.. We still have snow on the ground here in Ontario Canada and the ***** willows are already popping open...Yahooeee SPRING IS A SPRINGING FORTH...

The Plan

Well with all the stuff happening around our home I need to get more organized( don't we all right). Before I was a Mom I was a trained chef and enjoyed that life very much, but life never stays put does it? I am now taking what I know and putting pen to paper and trying to make a meal plan that is changing monthly or even every couple months.. This way I already have a list ready for the store and i'm not tossing things in just because they look good or are a deal. I am hoping that this not only helps us get organized but helps save some money too. I jumped into this today and WOW what a big job to lay it all out and gather meal ideas.. this is going to take longer than a day thats forsure.. Wish me luck..

God Speaks to the Speers Family

This has never been talked about with anyone, except my husband & God.. For sometime know both my husband and I have felt God place upon our hearts that we are to adopt a baby???? We also believe that this baby is in China???? At this point we wonder how we would have the funds to do this ( the average cost to adopt from China is $24,000..YIKES) But God has spoke again and has told us if we just start making the first steps that He will provide the rest. I write this blog in attempt to get imput from anyone who has adpoted from another country.. And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.
