<title>Blessings on Hickory Ridge - Homeschool Blogger</title>
<description>Confessions of a SAHHM (Stay At Home Homeschooling Mom). SAHHM to six children, 3 cats, 1 German Shepherd, Chaos, Murphy&#039;s Law, Notme, Idunno, and one incredibly loving and patient husband! :o)

If I haven&#039;t blogged recently, it&#039;s probably because chaos has gotten loose. It does that from time to time. Rest assured I will be back as soon as it is under control again.

<title>Veteran's Day</title>
<description>
&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
THE FINAL INSPECTION

The soldier stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.&amp;nbsp;
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.&amp;nbsp;

&quot;Step forward now, you soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?&quot;&amp;nbsp;

The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
&quot;No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,&amp;nbsp;
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.&amp;nbsp;

&quot;Step forward now, you soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell.&quot;&amp;nbsp;

<title>Are Public Schools an Option for Christian Kids</title>
<description>Great E-Book from The Old School House Magazine! and it's FREE to download!!
Are Public Schools an Option for Christian Kids?
It's an encouraging read&amp;nbsp;for those of us who homeschool for religious reasons!
&amp;nbsp;
and if you like that book...
I also recommend Family Driven Faith by Voddie Baucham and his DVD titled &quot;The Children of Caesar&quot;. I have links to his website in my sidebar somewhere (being technically challenged really has its limitations) &amp;nbsp;The book is available at most Christian book stores.

<title>Just another typical homeschooling day.....</title>
<description>&amp;nbsp;
It's just&amp;nbsp;another&amp;nbsp;typical day of school around here.&amp;nbsp;Ds 15&amp;nbsp;was leaning his chair back onto 2 legs while taking in the scope of information&amp;nbsp;I was dishing out to him. (Actually....., he was giving me the deer in the headlights look.) When suddenly a mouse scurried across the floor and ran into the foyer closet.
&amp;nbsp;
Like a group of hound dogs that just caught scent of&amp;nbsp;its prey, our 2 boys shot out of their chairs and raced to the&amp;nbsp;foyer closet. They immediately began&amp;nbsp;tearing the closet and its contents apart (I will leave it to your imagination how our closet looks,&amp;nbsp;but try to&amp;nbsp;picture a family of 8 and&amp;nbsp;all those items they can manage to cram into a tiny 4 ft long closet). Closet contents are flying across the room. You hear &quot;THERE&amp;nbsp;IT IS!&quot; and then the poor little&amp;nbsp;mouse scampers&amp;nbsp;back across the room from which it came. Young girls are heard squealing as they leap for&amp;nbsp;their lives to&amp;nbsp;safety atop tables and chairs. Meanwhile Mom is throwing her hands up in the air because 'who&amp;nbsp;gave the boys&amp;nbsp;permission to leave while I was in mid-lecture'.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
The&amp;nbsp;boys&amp;nbsp;follow chase&amp;nbsp;the mouse&amp;nbsp;back across the room and&amp;nbsp;into the living room behind the couch. The boys uproot the couch in&amp;nbsp;an attempt to locate their prey. As they do this the mouse leaps out from inside the mechanical workings of the couch, scampers into the dining room and crawls underneath&amp;nbsp;the VERY heavy and clunky hutch. The boys&amp;nbsp;quickly grab 2 mousetraps and begin to set and place the traps&amp;nbsp;on&amp;nbsp;both&amp;nbsp;ends of the hutch. With traps set, they then take the broom handle and&amp;nbsp;insert it below the front of the hutch and begin to wildly shove and swing the handle around. After several seconds of&amp;nbsp;attempting this,&amp;nbsp;the boys decide that their strategy isn't working. So they use the broom handle to set off the traps (a wise choice. I prefer that method over&amp;nbsp;losing their fingers) and decide to move the clunky and very heavy hutch instead. As they do this, all&amp;nbsp;the girls,&amp;nbsp;while standing on the couch for safety's sake, have&amp;nbsp;their eyes fixed on the floor.

To&amp;nbsp;everyone's dismay.....nothing came scampering&amp;nbsp;from beneath the hutch. The mouse successfully&amp;nbsp;eluded the hunters. It will live to see another day...........
&amp;nbsp;
So there you have it....Just another typical homeschooling day around here....
&amp;nbsp;
Now...do I make them get back to their books or&amp;nbsp;CLEAN UP the 3 rooms they&amp;nbsp;obliterated&amp;nbsp;during their spontaneous&amp;nbsp;hunt?&amp;nbsp; (Henceforth,&amp;nbsp;my old saying....'it looks like a couple of tornados blew through here'...yep, 2 boy tornado's and a tiny mouse wind)

<title>A boy, a fish, and a birthday cake</title>
<description>
&amp;nbsp;

&amp;nbsp;
This picture has nothing to do with the title of the post. It was loads of fun watching her reel in her first catch! Its obvious the fish didn't want to pose for pictures. That's why its&amp;nbsp;trying&amp;nbsp;so hard to camoflauge itself. &amp;nbsp;
