Random blog

Sarah is forcing me to do a blog again. Blogs are hard for me because I don't really have a specific person I am talking to (obviously), I'm just talking to anyone who happens to read it so for some reason that is challenging to me. I never did one of those yearly holiday letters for that exact reason. I'd rather write individually to people, but who has time for that? I guess I'll just tell about our day and hopefully that will be interesting to someone.
Rachel is a really good sleeper, but doesn't get the concept of 'bedtime'. She decides when it is our bedtime and sometimes it's a half-way decent time, but most of the time it's not. Last night for instance (or should I say this morning) it was after 6am. I started trying to get her to sleep at 2am (2am is an acceptable bedtime for me) and sometimes she would drift off, only to wake back up when I lay her down or maybe sleep for 10 minutes. She finally slept for real at 6 something, then so did I. This of course puts our whole home-school schedule out of whack.
Sarah is SO amazing with the baby. A lot of times she can get her happy when I can't. It's funny because Sarah has never been into babies or baby dolls or anything. She actually didn't even want our family to have a baby originally, but she LOVES Rachel and is always holding her and/or talking to her. It is fabulous! I am so blessed to have her to help me.
So....okay...about my day. All we really did was school work and took a walk. Other than that it was just the usual household duties (laundry, meals, dishes, diaper changes...etc) We are planning to go to Ohio on Wednesday where our church is and where we hope to move in the near future. We'll be there until Sunday. My grandniece who is 2 months older than Rachel will be there (along with her mother, my nephew's wife) so I will try to get some pictures of the babies together and post them here.
Here's a picture of Sarah and Rachel:

Award

sewbookcomputer gave me an award. Apparently I am a 'rockin' girl blogger'. I think that is a compliment. I'm actually surprised she didn't give me a 'loser blogger' award since she is always on my case about my lack of blogs. I think I'm supposed to put this on my sidebar, but I don't know how to do that or even if I have a sidebar, so I'll just put it here:

Now I guess I award it to 4 people. I'll choose Mylittlewomen, Victorious, sewbookcomputer (I'm awarding her because I made some modifications to the one she sent, so now she'll have a slightly different one) & Rachie
Thanks for the award Sarah!

We have a baby!!

Okay, we were SO wrong! We actually had a girl. If you've been keeping up with my daughter's blog, you already know her and have seen pictures of her. sewbookcomputer is quite a bit more on top of things than I am. I'll introduce her anyway. The baby's name is Rachel Lynn. She was born September 2nd at 7:47pm and weighed 7lbs 4oz. We're so glad to have her in our family.
It's challenging home-schooling with a newborn. The children are definitely getting their home-ec. lessons. Sarah is AMAZING with the baby. When Rachel is fussy, Sarah can almost always quiet her right down. She has been doing SO much to help out too. I'm not sure how I managed when Sarah was a baby, since I didn't have her around (the older version of her) to do so much. I am truly blessed!
I guess that's all my news for now. Here is a picture of Rachel:

Forced to blog!

Well, my daughter (sewbookcomputer), who absolutely LOVES this site and desperately wants me to get as hooked on it as she is, is forcing me to do a blog. I really WANT to do them, but I just don't make it a priority, so I guess it's good that I have my own little motivater.
Let's see, I am 37½ weeks pregnant now. The baby should come soon after school starts which will be interesting. My midwives are 5 hours away, so I'll actually be delivering at a friend's house near there. We are planning to leave this weekend and stay there until the baby comes. We don't know if the baby is a boy or a girl, but my husband is CERTAIN that it's a boy. He has me pretty convinced, so I'll be very surprised if we have a girl. I'm not sure if I've mentioned on here before, but right now we have one boy (age 5) and one girl (age 10). My husband is in Alaska right now on a business trip, so we are praying the baby doesn't come early while he is gone. He will be back August 24th and the baby is due September 2nd.
I guess I'll end this blog now. I like to put a picture with each blog. I think the best picture to go along with this one is a picture of me and my belly since I mostly talked about the baby coming. So that's what this picture is (if I remember how to add one on). I'm in my jammies and robe because you can see my belly better than you can when I'm in my clothes.

Mothers Day

I had a great Mothers Day yesterday! Sarah got up with Jonathan so I could sleep in and she gave me a card she made and also a tic tac toe game that she made (picture posted below). Jonathan, realizing it was Mothers Day all of a sudden and his sissy forgot to help him make something for me, announced he had a gift, ran into his room and came out with a little stuffed Winnie The Pooh for me. So sweet! Sarah even made lunch!

My first blog

Okay, let's see if I can figure out what to say to just random people that decide to read this. I guess I'll start off by introducing myself and telling a little bit about my family. My name is Jenny. I'm 34. I've been married for 15½ years to an amazing husband. We have 2 terrific children and one on the way. Our daughter, Sarah is 9 and in 4th grade. I've been homeschooling her since pre-school. Our son, Jonathan is 4 and we are doing pre-school now. He just learned to read and he is getting really good at it! Our baby is due September 6th. We are doing a home birth for the first time this time. We don't know if the baby is a boy or a girl.
Our family lives in Florida for about 7 months out of the year and West Virginia the other 5. During our time in West Virginia, we drive to Greenville, Ohio as often as we can to attend service at the Church of God there. It is an incredible church!
I can't think of any other general information to share. I think I'll close out this blog by relaying a phone conversation I overheard Jonathan (pictured below) having with his Nana today. She used to have a dog, named Princess, but she died either before Jonathan was born or when he was an infant. He wouldn't remember this dog, but he's heard about her. Recently we were on a trip visiting "Nana". So this is what he said to her: "I wish you still had that dog when we were visiting you" (he pauses while she says something) then he said "Well, it's okay that it died because that way when we play games it won't walk on the game and mess it up" Hahaha. Nothing like looking on the bright side.
