Don't change a recipe too much!!

Hello all!

I have tried to start a new tradition this year with my Christmas traditions. I have been baking some kind of christmas treat every day. Just one a day. It has been going really well and I have been enjoying myself a lot. I love cooking and baking.

But, tonight I tried to do something new to a recipe that I know works and have been makeing for years. My moms fudge recipe is really simple and good. I will include it at the end of my post for those who would like to try it. What I did was the recipe calls for marshmellos and I tried to use the marshmello cream instead and the recipe came out ok but it is really soft. Normally this recipe the fudge sets up pretty quickly, but this alternative ingrediant made a differnce. It tastes ok but I was going to take some to the christmas party I am going to tonight but it is too soft to cut up. we may have to eat it with a spoon. Oh well, live and learn.

Here is the recipe enjoy!

Fudge

5 cups of sugar

1 cube of butter

1 can of evaporated milk

Bring these ingrediants to a boil and cook for 8 min.

turn of heat and add

one 12 oz bag of choc chips

2 cups of small marshmellos (not the cream)

1 tps of vanilla

spread out on a cookie sheet and let it set up. Then cut up into squares and enjoy.

Boys will be Boys??

Hello again,

I have a question for you all. I have three children, Jazmine who is 9, Dyllan who is 6, and Isaiah who is 2. As you can see two of them are boys. I was one of two girls, so raising boys have been a new experience for me. Sometimes I just want to pull my hair out because of the way they behave. One minute they are fighting, and the next they are best friends. In the store they are always trying to chase and get eachother making all sorts of noise and tripping and hurting eachother. ( sometimes on accident). At home they seem like they are always making noise and running around. They never want to just sit and play quietly, unless I sit with them. I can not always do this as I am trying to run a house. I love my boys very much but it seems like they are always noise, messy, and sometimes just down right mean to eachother and those around them. Some one once told me that the best thing for boys is to just lock them outside first thing in the morning and then let them back in at night. She said to me boys need lots of room to run and play. I have a small place and a small yard in a nieghborhood. Not really the best place for boys. Also I have learned that it was not this bad with just one boy. It seems to be worse now that there are two of them.

Anyone have any tips or have the same experiences?

new to blogging.

Hello, I am new to blogging. I have never done it before, but I thought that I would try it. It seems to be the new rave with lots of people I know locally who homeschool. I hope to get to know you all and maybe learn something along the way. A little about my self is that I have been homeschooing for about 9 years and still don't always know the best method to which I should homeschool. I have tried being really strict and also tried doing nothing at all. Now we are kind of in the middle. We do some structered schooling and then we have some days that we do nothing at all. I guess it changes constantly. Does this happen to anyone else?
