A Late Spring Break

We are doing just two days of school this week because of our late spring break. We are headed down to California tomorrow and I so need this vacation!! We will do all the fun stuff--disneyland, california adventure, legoland (K has been wanting to do it for years) and then eat at all the different places down there that you can't eat at up here in Oregon, like In-N-Out Burger (I can't wait)

Blessings all and have a great week!

Vacation with a Mouse...

My dear husband and I are finally after 3 years going on vacation. One with airports, hotels and eating out. We are visiting the ever popular Disneyland. We haven't been there in three years and can't wait!!

Accouple new things on this vacation: Legoland. Our son K can't wait to go. He's been talking about it for about 2 years now. So, we are taking him during our short vacation. We are also going to try California adventure. We've been down to S.Cal since it opened but didn't have enough time to take it in.

One thing that we can't miss out on: In-n-Out Burger. One of my husband and I's favorite places to get bugers!! We are planning on stopping before we even get to disneyland!!

One draw back, now beggers can't be choosers but I just found out that the school district there has that week off for spring break. Oh well. We've been there lots of times so we will just have to be patient, enjoy the weather (instead of rain) and the time off of work.

Has anyone been down there, experience the new park and the new Space Mountain, let me know!!

My Homeschool Schedule

I thought that if I have this down I might be so inclined to actually do it: or atleast motivated to do it after moving and getting adjusted to a new place:

Back to School...

Since we had been moving and then unpacking, it took a while to get back into school. The first week we took off was because we were in the process of moving and everything was scattered between two places. And then the second week was spent figuring out exactly where everything was. I'm glad that we are unpacked and ready to live life again.

So, today I started easy since K had two weeks off. We did math (which he loves and it's easy for him) and then he did some reading- I just love Dr. Seuss books, and he actually gets something out of them too.

Blessings to all and hope everyone has a good week.

We've moved...

Yes, we are finally done with boxes and take out food. It's nice to be all moved in. K has seemed to adjust well. He has a new room but all his stuff is still there. He also has a good friend right across the street who is also homeschooled and they played yesterday. It's very good for him. Also, I will be homeschooling next year--dear hubby got a great job.

Let the good times roll...

(Okay, that makes no sense but it popped

into my head and I just had to write it!!)

Moving, Moving, Moving...

Yes, we are moving. My sister-in-law believes there is a song for this. And if there isn't, there should be. One about sore arms, lots of boxes, rooms in disarry, eating out because you can't find your (fill in the blank), found toys that you couldn't find before, a week off of homeschool (except the easy math and reading) living in two locations, and borrowing friends for a saturday morning to help you move.

We are excited to be moving because that is where our church is, friends are, homeschool activities, cub scouts for K, and lots of other benefits to living in this area we are moving to.

Moving, Moving, Moving...

Off we go, into the wild blue yonder...

Okay, so that really has nothing to do with the fact that K and I finished The Magician's Nephew but it popped into my head and I just had to use it.

I'm done reading about Digory, Polly; Queen Jadis, Polly, The Cabby and his Wife. We are done reading about Strawberry turned Fledge and The lamp post. It was a great adventure and K can't wait for me to start reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.

A new adventure awaits...

Magician's Nephew...

I still can't believe that K and I are just about done with this first Narnia book. Now all the old stuff that I remember reading as a kid from The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe makes sense. The Lamp post and the Wardrobe are big ones for me. We still have 2 chapters left but I did read ahead a bit so I know generally what happens. K is even enjoying it too. His dad is usually the one he wants to read to him at night but since we've been reading Magician's Nephew, he wants me to read to him. I don't mind at all. K can't wait till we start reading The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe next. We've gotten it from the library so we can start on it immediately!

The Three R's...

Today I've come to realize that sooner or later the last of the three R's will come easier to K. He's got the arithmatic down with no problem. He is writing really well. But it seems that reading is the last to really come to him. He is in 1st grade. He will now and then tell me he can't read yet...even though he knows most small words and can sound out bigger words. I think that he just need to keep trying and it will get easier for him. We are reading some Dr. Seuss books and I've got him in the BookIt program through Pizza Hut as an incentive for him to read. It also seems to help. We'll just keep plugging along and he should be reading with no problem by the end of the year.

Oregon Museum of Science and Industry

Yesterday found us unexpectedly at OMSI (Oregon Museum of Science and Industry) with my friend S who I haven't seen in about 3 years. We had a great time. She has a pass and so my son K and I got it free. We went to the toddler area first as her son M is not yet 2 and that is the best place for him. It was fun to see them playing!!

After an early lunch the four of us went to the Cartoon Networks item on Cartooning. What a lot of fun K and I had making different poses and puting them together, and then being the sound effects for the cartoon Kids Next Door. Then in another area drawing some of the characters from Fosters Home For Immaginary Friends. We had a lot of fun and I told K that we should come back with Daddy.
