Parable of Ants and Grasshoppers

A friend posted this up at "The Conservative Homeschooler" and I wanted to share it here too! Hope ya'll enjoy. ( I wrote more further down on this post)!
From Conservative libertarian Outpost
Parable of the Ant and the Grasshopper
By Patrick Sperry
TRADITIONAL VERSION:
The ant works hard in the witheringheat all summer long, building hishouse and laying up supplies for the winter. The grasshopper thinks theant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away. Comewinter, the ant is warm and well fed. The grasshopper has no food orshelter, so he dies out in the cold. MORAL OF THE STORY: Be responsible for yourself!*****
MODERN VERSION: The ant works hard in the withering heat all summer long, building hishouse and laying up supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.
Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be warm and well fed while others are cold and starving.
CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast. How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so? Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper, and everybody cries when they sing, “It’s Not Easy Being Green.”
Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the group singing, “We shall overcome.” Jesse then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s sake. Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper , and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share. Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity and Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer! The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the government. Hillary gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper in a defamation suit against the ant, and the case is tried before a panel of federal judges that Bill Clinton appointed from a list of single-parent welfare recipients. The ant loses the case.
The story ends as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around him because he doesn’t maintain it.
The ant has disappeared in the snow.
The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the once peaceful neighborhood.

This story reminded me of the new story of the little Red hen, when everyone sues her for not sharing the bread she made all by herself!
A while back, my girls watched "A Bug's Life". If you have never seen it, the ants collect food for the grasshoppers, or else, they will be destroyed by them, or so they think! But at the end the ants stand up against the grasshoppers, and realize ,they greatly out number the grasshppers! At one point in the story the lead grasshopper says they can only keep up on this control, by never letting even one ant raise up against them! Anyways, the last time I saw this show, I was amazed at what I got from it! LOL! This could be a show about America, or any people, being controled by a small group of currupt bullies! You can watch the complete show on Youtube, if you would like, but the first of this is a good clip!

"5000 Year Leap" Book Study- The First Principle!

On "The Conservative Homeschooler", we have been doing a book study on "The 5000 Year Leap" (A Miracle That Changed The World).
I wanted to share my discussion "overview" on the First Principle here. Hope you enjoy it and if you are a Conservative Homeschooler, and want to join the discussion on the group, please look into joining! Conservative Homeschool Dad's are welcome too!
~Hannah

1st Principle
"The Only Reliable Basis for Sound Government and Just human Relations is Natural Law"
pgs.37-47

Natural Law- "The Only reliable basis for a stable society and a system of justice" as stated here by Blackstone.
The Life and Writings of Cicero
I had never heard of Marcus Tullius Cicero, until we started reading this book. I have been fascinated by his few writings that I have read so far, and would like to get the book quoted from here ("Great Political Thinkers") and hope to find more books/writings by Cicero.
Cicero was a man who rose to great heights, but found himself on the opposing side of Rome as it headed towards a dictatorship, and for this, he was later murdered. He may have been ahead of his time, but he laid a great foundation for the founding fathers to take up and use for our countries founding. Cicero wrote of a "future society based upon Natural Law."

Cicero's Fundamental Principles
Accepting that there is "the brilliant intelligence of a Supreme Designer with an ongoing interest in both human and cosmic affairs." And once "the reality of the Creator is clearly identified in the mind, the only intelligent approach to government, justice and human relations is in terms of laws which the Supreme Creator has already established."
And this, as the Declaration of independence reads are called "the laws of Nature and of Nature's God."

Natural Law is Eternal and Universal
"True Law" sounds a lot like the bible to me, "A sin to alter", not allowed to repeal any part of it and impossible to abolish it entirely.
As my husband and I say, "you cannot out run nature. If you go against nature, it Will catch up with you, every time." Women going against nature is a great example of this! this country and much of the world has been going against nature for a long time now, and we will pay for it to some degree.
"In Natural Law we are dealing with factors of Absolute reality." Wow! Is it just me that sees people doing their best to avoid absolutes and reality?

The Divine Gift of Reason
God made man in His likeness, and gave man dominion over all the other creatures. Man was given the gift of reason and wisdom, and after eating the fruit, the knowledge of good and evil.
Cicero's writing here is pretty amazing! Makes one really think! And it reminds me of Proverbs and some other verses in the Bible.

The First Great Commandment
"Love, respect, and obey the all-wise Creator"!
People united together under God's law, belong to His commonwealth.
Jesus said "On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets" (Matthew 22:36-40).

The Second Great Commandment
"Thou shalt love they neighbor as thyself"
"Justice is impossible except under the principles of God's just law"
So the "glue" that holds the commonwealth of people together is the love of God!

All Mankind Can Be Taught God's Law and Virtue
"There is no human being of any race who, if he finds a guide, cannot attain to virtue."
Cicero stresses that all men who hold God to be the Supreme Being, share this commonwealth, and that under God's law we were born for justice, not by right or man, but by nature, therefore all man can be taught God's law, Natural Law, and be virtuous.

Legislation in Violation of God's Natural Law Is a Scourge to Humanity
So a so-called law that goes against Natural Law, is Not a law, even though it is accepted by the people as law.

All Law Should Be Measured Against God's Law
This part of the book and the above are exactly what is happening in our country right now! They are taking bad and trying to take bad and make it good, and justice is now injustice, all because the power belongs to fools. (Yes, I called them fools!).
if we held their papers that they call laws, up against Natural Law, they would Never measure up! We have to get back to holding all laws up against God's Law.

Cicero's Conclusion
Man needs to work in harmony with nature, and natures God to build a "highly moral and virtuous society."

Examples of Natural Law
Here is something for you to do:
Tell me the first things that comes to mind when you think of Natural law, (that is used in our Constitution, laws, Justice system, etc.).

Here are is the first one that I think of, but is very easy:
UNALIENABLE RIGHTS!

(If you have the "5000 Year Leap" book, you can find a list of some on pages 46 and 47!)!

The Best Healthcare Plan

With all the talk of health care, it has really got me to thinking about the medical system and how people nowadays want to make health such a big issue
I may not be very advanced in age and wisdom, but I have spent most of my life pretty close to nature, and have been learning more about health, natural healthcare and how one can better care for themselves and others around them, if they just learn what God has put around us
I believe that every household, or at least every community should have an herbalist.
May I take you to my world of healthcare ? This may sound unbelievable, but this is the vision of many people who are learning, have learned or practice natural/herbal healthcare

If this is not your idea of healthcare, fine. You may continue with what we have, something worse, or something that just patches up the problems, but does not feed the body what it needs

First, I will blow away most people by saying, we have to each decided and stick to a better diet Yes, no more processed food. Sure there will be processed food to buy, but once people start making this simple and good change, they will soon be replaced by local companies and individuals selling fresh, whole, true organic foods Imagine for a moment walking into your local communities grocery, market, farmers market, or food stand at the corner, and being meet with the sights and sounds of complete, wholesome freshness Fresh, farm grown, local food Grown by your neighbors No more worries about what is in it. You can see what is in it The grain feed to the animals is grown local of course too
(In case you do not see it yet, this is growing jobs for any family that wants to pitch in )

Healthcare is taken care of in a lot of ways just by ones diet.
If you have not studied natural healthcare, maybe I should take this a little deeper, so people can see how this Can and does work
First of all you must remember that we have been eating worse and worse and taking more medication for many years now. This did not happen over night and it will take the adults and older children nowadays, longer to gain good or better health, then it will for future generations. The sooner young people and new parents start making changes in their diet, the sooner a healthier generation will be here
Second you must remember, you are what you eat If you put dead food in your mouth, do not expect your body to be able to live off of it. Your body can only thrive, grow and maintain health, by you putting good, whole, live foods in it
It makes perfect sense if you think about it.
When processed dead foods are put into the body, the body cannot break them down and use them as it should. As these foods build up and the body cannot dispose of them, they build up and start backing up into the whole body's system. Soon you are putting on weight, but you stay hungry, so you eat more and the vacuous cycle continues Even if you change your diet, if you do not clean and rid the body of the build up that has been compiling since you started eating, it does no good for your body.
Once the body has been deeply cleansed of the waste/mucus that has accumulated over the years, then herbs and whole, live, foods can be used to rebuild the body's system, to help it function properly again, and the whole, live foods can work to feed the body what is needed for a long, healthy life. And once the body functions are rebuilt/working on their own again, and the person is eating whole, live foods, little is needed to maintain good health.

It is also important to remember that the body does not process and eliminate medications as they are not whole, live foods. So just like processed foods that cannot be broken down and used by the body, these things back up into the system and cause many harmful and often life threatening side effects.

With this natural healthcare in place, about the only need for an ER and hospital setting, would be for broken bones and when someone is profusely bleeding.

For birthing, there are midwives. You have your babies at home or in a maternity center but it is still natural birthing. For thousands of years, women have had children at home, and with the government out of health of the people, midwives will be able to have the freedom and supplies they need.

In place of medical pharmacy, they are herbal pharmacies, or just your local herb store. There you can get your herbal formulas, capsules, tinctures, dried herbs in bulk or small amounts.

Vaccines and shots are taken out of the picture, since your immune system is built and prepared with herbs and natural products.

Chemical factories would be replaced with factories that produce cleaners, bug sprays, body products, etc. made from herbs and natural products.

All seeds we need to be non-hybrid, and open pollinated. Grain, vegetable, fruit and herb growers would cover the country, as well as organic cattle/dairy, chicken, fish, and hog farms. Less meats and diary products would be eaten, but there would be enough other jobs in the country to make up for them.

There would still be dentist, but with natural tooth products and herbs/whole-foods for calcium and better diets that make for stronger teeth, their offices would no longer be packed. Teeth would be happy and healthy

There are natural treatments/remedies for every sickness, disease and complaint you can come up with. Remember though, many diseases that are diagnosed by this day and time are made up. The cures or remedies are not what they prescribe, and causes are usually traced back to problems in the diet and an overwhelmed/degenerating body system.

PLEASE NOTE
I do not wish to argue over peoples health problems, so please do not waste time.
I know many are closed-minded over this matter, because they have been in the medical system, they have never been around nature, do not trust God and what He has given us, trust the doctors to much, and or are too dependent on medications and a quick (but not true) fix .
It saddens me, greatly to see so many suffer from so many problems, many of which can easily be treated. We just have to educate ourselves and remember that herbs and whole foods have been used for healthcare for thousands of years and were given to us by our Creator, so we could take care of the bodies he made for us

You could not imagine the time, lives, stress, paper work and millions and trillions of dollars this healthcare plan would be save this country, and in just a few months and years time. This already works for individuals who use it, and it WILL work for the Whole country too.

Wednesdays Walk.....Four Years Ago This Month

Four Years ago this month, our first little Princess was born!
It is so hard to believe that she is already four, even though she usually acts like she is older then 4! We are so blessed with how healthy and happy she has been over these four years and really look forward to all the future has in store for her and our family!

My preganacy was really good! it being my first, I did not really know what to expect, but I was blessed with a wonderful midwife and of course, my supportive, caring and loving husband! God is sooo good! I was determined that I was NOT going to a hospital! Period!
My mom had used this midwife on her last baby, only one year before, so I knew her and she was happy to help us too! I did not start seeing her till i was, I think about 5 or 6 months along. I had been around homebirths for 4 of my younger siblings, and mom had breastfed too, so i was pretty firmilar with a lot of that!

My family had been at odds with us, after we got married, but funny, they decided to come back around right before I had Princess S! They came to our house on a Sat. We went to their house the next day, for Sunday, and Princess S. was born Mon. morning! LOL!
My water broke right before we went to bed on Sun. night. I went into labor around 1 or 2 a.m. and had her at 9:03 a.m.
The midwife had brought one of her daughters and they and King Ed, had started taking turns napping! I found it hard to believe since i could tell that it was getting close and found it kind of rude too! lol! They had to finally wake up King Ed, so he would not sleep thru the delivery!!
Princess S. weighed 6 lbs. 6 oz. and was about two weeks early! She has been such a joy and I would not have had anything different, then at her birth, or now that she is the active, talking, helpful, big sister!! God is sooo Good!

For her recent, 4th birthday party I made her a butterfly cake and we had some family and friends over!

Some of my great online, homeschool buys!

I love finding neat books and things for homeschool online! So when birthdays or Christmas come around I usually have a ton of things that I have to narrow down and choose from! Lol!
This month, our oldest had a birthday, so I found some things I was hoping to get then I shopped around! Surprise! Surprise! I was able to find the things cheap on Amazon, ebay, and homeschool classifieds, etc! Yippee!
Maybe the books are not always new, but usually can find what you need, in good shape, and hey, you can support other homeschoolers who are selling the products!
So here are my new buys!
If you have any to share, please do!
Here are four sets of Bob books I got on homeschoolclassifieds!

She also had four Pathway Readers for sell!

Here is the Take-Along Field guide book, Neil Sedaca childrens CD, volume 4 of Adventures in Odyssey, and the older verson of Wordly Wise Year 1.

Two devotionals I wanted for the coming school year!

Two Pathway Readers I found on ebay, brand new! Wow! They are like grades 4 & 5, so I am saving them for later!

I also have to share what we found at Hobby Lobby! We live a couple of hours from the nearest Hobby Lobby, so I have only been like three times in the past 4 years! So I was excited to find the childrens crafts and arts, sooo cheap! if you live close to a Hobby Lobby, that is a great place to stock up on school supplies!

(Yes, that is a toddlers foot in the botom courner! She wanted to help!)!

How have You been Preparing Lately?

We have been pretty busy here, with preserving the harvest, guess you could say! I have been hoping that A LOT of other people have been putting away a Lot of food lately. I do not know how many times I have thought that the past few days or said it to my husband! Lol! I use to find it humorous to see what people call their pantry, or that they have been stocking up and see a few 5 lb. bags of dried beans and some little stacks of canned veggies! But I no longer find it funny. We are in the middle of some serious stuff in this country and world right now and it looks like it will only get worse for a while! if the true American's cannot take this country back soon, we are looking at a terrible depression and sooo much more! This could get VERY BAD! No this is not a funny matter anymore! I truly pray that women and families all over this country are buying up as many canning jars as they can possible find! And filling them with food that their family can and chances are will live off of, in the future! Even if this country takes a turn back to it's roots, we have some tuff times ahead. It will take a while to restore, and rebuild this country back. We need to be ready for the days when you cannot go to the grocery store and get food, when you cannot get food unless you have a government card and government housing, etc. I pray that day never comes, but like I said You will need your own food someday!
Maybe I am a little old-fashioned and cling to my Bible and gun, live close to nature and try to have a closer walk with God, but I believe that God wants us to depend on Him for our food, to till the soil and supply food for our families, by the sweat of our own brow! And that He wants us to be prepared for the future, so that our families are well taken care of, as the Proverbs 31 woman!
I would also like to point out that we are not having global warming! Woohoo! Who didn't know that? But you may want to watch nature, Mr. Gore, we may be having some cooler weather! Another reason we need to be close to nature! So we can know what the winter ahead may be like, and how we need to prepare for it! My husband has been talking about this for a while and says we need to be preparing for cooler winters! I think i would rather be safe than sorry!
So HOW HAVE YOU BEEN PREPARING FOR YOUR CHILDRENS FUTURE LATELY????

Here is a little of what I have been doing!
Last Friday (July 10th), we went to a local Mennonite community and bought some sweet corn and put in an order for more produce! So Mon. (13th) King Ed went and picked up the produce and Tue. I got started canning it all! Thought I would share how my week went here!
Tues.-
Canned almost 20 qts. of tomatoes,
Canned 14 qts. of potatoes,
washed, hung out, then put away laundry,
vacuumed and swept,
cooked meals, etc.

Wed.-
We went with King Ed that morning and went to the grocery store, bought food, etc. for birthday party this weekend, when we got home,
canned 14 qts. potatoes,
then wrapped presents after the girls went to bed!

Thurs.-
cleaned around the house some (desk, upstairs bathroom, vacuumed, swept floors, etc.),
canned 14 qts. of potatoes,
pickled 14 pts. of peppers (mostly banana),
cooked meals, etc.
Fri. (today)- cleaned kitchen, cleaned main bathroom, swept and mopped floors, vacuumed,
worked in garden, stacking the tomatoe plants, etc.

I Praise the Lord that we have been able to put up what we have so far and pray that we can put away a lot more! I hope you and everyone you know is buying jars and filling them this summer and autumn too! This is very important! Bless your family by looking ahead and preparing!

Wednesdays Walk....Happy 5th Anniversary!

Happy to join Wednesdays Walk Down Memory Lane Today! Happy 5th Wedding Anniversary to the Love of My Life!
Five years ago today, the love of my life took me to a courthouse and we were legaly married under a big tree that was in the courthouse yard!
There were only two other friends there. It was a warm sunny day! Just lovely!
I had never been to or heard about a courthouse wedding so was not sure if you were the wedding dress or not and since mine was second hand and not fitted for me, I just wore a nice outfit! Lol! Hey I was only 18, and didn't have a mother figure to help me!
For a while I was upset that I did not get a wedding with guest, cake, decorations and all the goodies, but I got over that. I did not need all of that, I have been blessed with a wonderful husband and marriage, and I am sooo thankful for that! Now we have been blessed with 5 years of being together Everyday and every night! Two little girls and I look forward to the future God has in store for us! He has been so Good to us!

We took some pictures of ourselves after we got back home! Thought I would share them here today! They may look unusual, with the background around them, but that is because they were in a scarpbook I started for my husband!

King Ed wanted a picture of me in my dress! It is no telling how old, but I kept it and if it holds up, may keep it for my girls!

Wednesdays Walk....My brother is 18!

I have been thinking about joining all the ladies at Lynnette's Wednesdays Walk, over on her blog "Dancing Barefoot on Weathered Ground", and finally, here I go! I have a lot to share, but may not be able to make it every week!
God bless you all!
~Hannah

Wow! It is hard to believe my "little" brother, Drew just turned 18!!! I found this picture of his 11th birthday (June '02)!
Here he is with me sitting beside him and brother, Arthur, in the background! Like each of my siblings, Drew holds a very special place in my heart.
Drew is the fourth child of 7, he was the secound baby mom had at home and when he was just 2 yrs. old had to spend 10 days in the hospital from a staff infection! Of course it returned, but that time mom treated it naturally and it did not come back! Drew has always had a mouth full of sweet teeth, I have always thought! While mom was pregnant with him, we use to eat ice cream at Braums, every week, on the way home from church. Drew has always liked sweets over everything else! Since his birthday comes at the end of June, we had a lot of fun times swimming, going to parks and other fun outdoor activities on his birthdays!
Since we do not visit with my family right now, I have not gotten to see Drew in a while. Drew was baptized not long ago, and that was very joyful for me to hear! Drew is a hard worker, loves to ride horses and over the years his "toys" have grown! From the trucks and cars he use to Love to play with, to weed-eaters, lawn mowers & golf carts and now to pick-ups, tracters, chainsaws and sawmills! He is as tall as dad now (dad is 6'2")! And looks so grown up!
I worry about him a lot, but just have to stop and pray for him! He was very troubled in the past, growing up, probably more then us older 3 siblings. I pray that he is more joyful now and that if he is not, God will soon lead him to where He wants him to be and gives him the joy and peace he needs! I pray we get to see Drew more soon and can have many more joyful times to make memories in the future! Until then though, I wish my dear brother many blessings and joys everyday and hope he had a Wonderful 18th birthday! I am so proud of him!
