Hello! I’ll bet you never expected to see this RSS feed light up again, did you?

It appears as though I haven’t posted anything since “Corbin in the Closet”, which was several months ago.

So, what’s new in my life since my last post? I’d better fill you in.

My life has been extremely busy lately. I’ve been working as a Page at the Library since last August. It is a wonderful job, but it has become much busier since April, when my boss died and two of the four Pages left for various reasons. We replaced my boss and one of the Pages, but not the second Page. I’m going to be working five days a week until the school year starts up again and we hire a fourth Page.

In May I finally took my driving test and passed it on the first try, despite the fact it was raining and the streets were flash flooding. I’m able to drive all by myself or with licensed drivers over 21 until August 6th, after which I can drive with anyone. (Yeah, it stinks. However, Indiana’s graduated driving requirements are rated among the highest in the nation. Better safe than sorry!)

Last week, I was accepted at a local community college to take a couple of classes this fall. I took the placement test two days ago, and I aced through everything except for Math. I’m anticipating taking a Chemistry class at the very least, and most likely a computer-related class.

On a note that is more minor to everyone except about three people, I bought myself another iBook. I had an old PowerBook that I used for school, but it died around the end of spring. The iBook has a broken CD drive, but I’ve ordered a replacement. At this rate, I’ll probably stick with used computers until I’m officially in college.

I also bought myself a Nikon D40 DSLR camera in April. (For you non-geeky people, it’s basically a professional-grade camera.) I have used it quite a bit since then. I am now my church’s resident photographer, and I’ve also done a little bit of shooting at a few Library events as well. I’m hoping to get around to posting some of my better pictures sometime in the near future.

Well, I don’t want to bore you anymore, so I’ll sign off! I hope that I can try to become more organized and breath some more life back into this blog. However, if I’m going to try to do that, I’d like to see more comments. It gets really discouraging when you write posts and have no clue whether or not anyone even cares to read them, so please, leave feedback!

Yes, I'm still alive.

This is another video that Nick and I put together recently. It's the first time we've actually used our DV camera with a firewire cord, and I'm pretty satisfied with the results. It's about the best lighting we've had in a movie. (remember Le Fly and Napkin Commercial? The movies would have been much better if we hadn't made them in the evening.)

Now to find a way to fix the background noise.

As I watch the last presidential debate of the 2008 campaign season, I realize that I haven't officially stated my opinions of the candidates. Why don't I remedy that?

It's a good thing I didn't make them fighting. Mr. Obama wouldn't be in good shape once they were done.

Well, since I last posted, a few things have happened.

First, I finally got a job at the library. They didn't need me for the job I applied for, but a week later they had an opening come up for the same position at a different time slot. So, I'm a page now. I get to shelve books, sort movies, memorize sorting methods, and, most importantly, get paid. :-D I work from 9am-12:30pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Second, I got a new Palm. The Treo didn't end up working; the keyboard was completely dead, and the rest of the buttons only worked half of the time. So, I got a CLIE NR70v. It's a really cool one, and it does work. (I had better mention that seemingly trivial fact.) It has an mp3 player, a camera, a really cool flippy screen hinge, and a built-in keyboard. Not bad for a 5 year-old handheld!

Third, we finally started school. It's a bit weird trying to fit it around work, but it seems to be going pretty well. My main subjects are Worldview, Java Programming, Geometry, Greek, and Health/PE, in that order of difficulty.

Well, that's my life so far. Not too bad of an update for two weeks of life, if I do say so myself. :-D

Well, I discovered an interesting fact about myself today. I apparently make a very good interference shield for our radio. Really. Mom was listening to music on her portable radio today, and it kept receiving static and another station that was interfering with the airwave.

I decided to help Mom by popping the seeds out of some beans, and I leaned in front of the radio. Instantly, the radio started receiving very clear reception. I stood up for a second, and the radio started receiving the static again. I experimented with it for a while, and verified the fact.

Weird. Oh well, I guess that I might find that attribute of myself useful in the future.

Now Mom will probably want me to sit in front of the radio all day, so that she can get a clear signal.

Well, we're beginning to figure out some of the great benefits of having lots of kids. For example, Miss Jocelyn Dixon is hosting a giveaway for some little tiny shoe thingies. I couldn't care less about the shoes (They're a tad bit too small for my hobbit feet), but my Mom is taking advantage of her large number of offspring and making us enter the contest so she can get the shoes for Mariam.

I get two entries in the drawing if I post about it on my blog, so that's why this post is here.

Graveyard

This morning, Mom took all of us to a nearby cemetery for a field trip. We have several relatives buried there. Mom wanted us to be able to look at the names, ages, and death dates on the tombstones.

We were also going to take crayon rubbings of the inscriptions of some of the tombstones, but they were so old (think mostly 1800s), that it didn't work. However, I took my camera and got some great pictures.

(This last one is my personal favorite.)

Well, I'm Back

Wow, I've been busy. Our church's VBS was the last week of July. Therefore, all of our evenings were crammed full. The week after that, we spent a week at a youth camp in Illinois, which was partially headed by my first cousin-in-law-once-removed and his wife. This week, we had my Dad's brother and his family over from Chicago. All of these things have been fun, but it's been busy. Hopefully things are about ready to slow down from here. Well, except for school. I'm not sure when we're gonna start, but it'll be before too long.

In other news...

My CLIE broke the day before I left for camp. I bought a new one from ebay. It's a Handspring Treo 180 (An old one). The main reason I got it was for the thumb keyboard. It didn't come with a charger, so I'm using a Handspring Visor that came with the Treo until the cord I bought comes. Below are some pictures:
