<title>Prayers needed!</title>
<description>I just ask that anyone who stops by to please say a quick prayer for my brother.&amp;nbsp; The Lord is calling him to take on raising 5 children who's parents are going to be in prison for some time.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; These children do not know the Lord.&amp;nbsp; My hope and prayer is... that with my brother &amp;amp; sister in law's guidence...they come to the Lord or at least begin to feel God's love.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; My brother called today to ask for God's wisdom and grace....and maybe peace and protection.
Thanks everyone!
Have a wonderful Friday!!!!

<title>What to do this weekend &amp;amp; Etsy shop</title>
<description>Well, I'm at a loss for what to do this weekend. I would love to go yard saleing...but, I've got a couple of morning things to do ...so that would be out of the question. It's supposed to be a really nice day here. Maybe I'll take the kids to fly the kite that my MIL gave us. That might be fun.

Well, I know I've been telling you about the Giveaway that I'm planning....and I'll post about that on Sunday. I promise! I haven't been going out because of this ear thing I have. As I posted before...I have been sick. I somehow got an ear infection...a pretty bad one...and I still don't have my hearing back in my left ear. (please pray I get it back) The dizziness has gone but not the annoyance of the lack of hearing! UGH!

On the homefront, we are finally going to paint our home on the week of April 14...yes I know...it's a super busy week. I pray that it stays nice and doesn't rain. Otherwise, I haven't done much with decorating or otherwise. I've just been working on beaded wedding bags for my Etsy shop. I've signed up for a showcase Tomorrow so, please check my showcase out. I haven't had a sale yet...so I'm hoping this will generate some sales.

Well, I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend....I know I'll try!!!

<title>What a Wonderful Easter Day!</title>
<description>We had a wonderful Easter day here.&amp;nbsp; The weather was sunny and warm.&amp;nbsp; Just a perfect day....only God could have made...LOL!
Well, I came down with something on Friday night...I thought I was over it by Saturday afternoon.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; But of course not.&amp;nbsp; I did make it to church.&amp;nbsp; I made sure not to talk to anyone and quickly left.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; When we got home, my kids just raved about Easter Sunday and what they learned in church.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
I made a ham dinner and we ate on good dishes and some real family time.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter!!
Oh...I opened my Etsy Shop today!&amp;nbsp; Please feel free to stop by and browse!

<title>Rosetta Stone Contest!!!</title>
<description>Rosetta Stone Contest!
I would love to win the Portuguese...since I am portuguese and would love to teach it to my own kids!!!&amp;nbsp; this would be so great to have!
Rosetta Stone has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers&amp;nbsp;for a while -- next week they are unleashing a brand new curriculum, and you can&amp;nbsp;WIN the&amp;nbsp;*all new*&amp;nbsp;Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3&amp;hellip; FOR FREE!&amp;nbsp;
This is a $219 program (and believe me it's worth every penny!) and the winner gets to pick from any of these 14 languages: Spanish (Spain or Latin America), English (American or British), Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Irish, Hebrew, or Russian.
This will also include a headset with microphone, and students will participate in lifelike conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program.&amp;nbsp; Rosetta Stone still incorporates listening, reading and writing as well, in addition to speaking.&amp;nbsp; Many homeschoolers requested grammar and vocabulary exercises, and with Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3, they're included!&amp;nbsp; For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program and allow parents to easily enroll students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, and view and print reports.&amp;nbsp;
&amp;nbsp;
To win this most excellent program -- in the language of your choice -- copy these (blue)&amp;nbsp;paragraphs and post it in (or as) your next blog post --&amp;nbsp;then to enter&amp;nbsp;the contest, go&amp;nbsp;to the original contest page HERE: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/JenIG/501132/ &amp;nbsp;and leave a comment&amp;nbsp;with the link&amp;nbsp;showing&amp;nbsp;where you blogged about&amp;nbsp;it.&amp;nbsp; And please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post it.&amp;nbsp; And good luck!&amp;nbsp; The winner will be picked randomly on March 26, and will be notified&amp;nbsp;thru the link they left to&amp;nbsp;their blog pg.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; And if you have more than one blog,&amp;nbsp;you can post them and enter those separately for more chances to win.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;Yay for free stuff!

Thanks for stopping by...
Susan

<title>Here in CA today...</title>
<description>Parental rights....this is every parents issue

For those who haven't guessed. I am a homeschooling Mom. It has come to my attention that in California (where I live) ...A California Court of Appeal recently decided that homeschooling is illegal in California unless a parent is a certified teacher.

I am not that...nor is most parents who choose this option. What people don't realize is, when a law is passed in California or a ruling in the court of appeal...the REST of the USA usually follows suite. That means like with the smoking ban...which started here...this will eventually happen to you...as a parent.

There already is a ruling that states once your child is enrolled in a public school in the western states (9th court district) YOU as a parent have NO right to what is being taught to your child. Yes, you read it correctly!!! That means if they decide to teach sex ed to your 1st grader...they can!!! Shocking isn't it. And they don't have to send home a form asking permission.

So I ask as a parent to please visit Focus on the Families web site www.family.org ...listen to Dr.Dobson's broadcast about this issue and then sign the petition at www.HSLDA.org

It's not just about Homeschooling...it's about losing our rights as parents to parent our children...as we see fit!!!!

Thanks everyone for hanging in there with this post!!!

Susan

<title>I know...I know...I haven't bloged.</title>
<description>I was reminded by sixfolks to blog...LOL!
I just wanted to remind families that there is a organization that will
send you FREE curriculum just by writing to them. They can't promise
it will be exactly the curriculum you want but it is available. And
they will send some school supplies too!

I know money is tight with some and I wanted to let those know about
this wonderful program!!!

http://www.booksamaritan.com/index.html

Well, let's see....
I set up my greenhouse last week.&amp;nbsp; The kids and I planted cantalope, egg plant, green beans, peas, sweet william, sunflowers, corn, cosmos...I think that was it.&amp;nbsp; I am really excited about the crop this year.&amp;nbsp; I think the kids will really understand what it really is.&amp;nbsp; I did this last year but our crop was pretty sad.&amp;nbsp; I didn't add any fertilizer to the soil....so the plants had nothing to eat.&amp;nbsp; But this year I'm getting some&amp;nbsp; compost...which reminds me...I need to get it before this coming weekend.&amp;nbsp; My husband promised to rototill.&amp;nbsp; The weather has been really nice.
I have decided not to decorate cakes any more.&amp;nbsp; I cancelled my web site today and referred all my business to others.&amp;nbsp; Why?&amp;nbsp; Well, it's something I have been thinking about doing for some time now.&amp;nbsp; I had a situation recently that kinda had me thinking.&amp;nbsp; So, I took the plunge.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Cakes really take alot out of my day and lots of time.&amp;nbsp; That is time away from my Children!&amp;nbsp; I really feel like God wants me to be a Mom.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Not a cake maker and a Mom.&amp;nbsp; My cake business has become a job lately.&amp;nbsp; I don't need that.
So what do I want to do now, you ask?&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Well, since I just love having something extra to do with my spare time....I am opening an Etsy shop.&amp;nbsp; I have been making Tote Bags and such for gifts these past few months.&amp;nbsp; And I am really enjoying it.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; I have made to many too.&amp;nbsp; So, I will open my shop on April 14.&amp;nbsp; That's my grandmother's birthday.&amp;nbsp; Since, it was because of her that I started sewing again.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; As my cake business did....all my proceeds will go towards my homeschooling supplies and field trips.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Now, I know what you are thinking....but you go through a Charter school?&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Well,&amp;nbsp; they don't pay for everything.&amp;nbsp; I don't use all their curriculum.&amp;nbsp; I buy what they don't offer.&amp;nbsp; As I purchase the things I need...the more I can go private.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; So please come and visit.&amp;nbsp; If you need a gift, please check out my shop.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;
And another thing....I have another blog too!&amp;nbsp; I know, I am full of confessions today!!!&amp;nbsp; LOL!!!
www.pinkportugueseroses.blogspot.com&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; It has less homeschooling stuff...more decorating and women stuff....secular I guess.&amp;nbsp; It's more to promote my Etsy shop more than anything.
Thanks for hanging in there with this post.
May the Lord bring you glad tidings and much joy today!!!!
Susan
